society really lost the war when dressing nice / slutty = βgayβ βmetrosexualβ βis he π π»β. we had decades of men wearing crop tops and short shorts without blinking an eye and now itβs ye ole pilgrim standards and talk of scandal if they show their knees
they were FASHIONISTAS!!! and we SHAMED them!!!
the fact that men used to be able to dress like that and no one said a thing but chris pine stepped outside in this and thereβs dozens of articles about him & his reaction to the criticism?
stand UP kings. bring back the thighs and the tummies!!!!!!
straight up not only is moralizing appearance shitty because people in your life will find out that you think they're ugly, it's also a suuuuper easy stepping stone to racism because a lot of features the zeitgeist deems "ugly" are features often found in marginalized groups.
like, i mean, think about what people deem ugly and use as shorthand for "villains" in stories. crooked teeth, being fat, darker skin, bigger noses, hairy bodies; i think if you apply some critical thinking you can see where these ideas come from and why tying them with being "evil" is bad
enough reclaiming slurs, I think in 2023 we should reclaim nascar. they banned the confederate flag on all properties & their stance on lgbtq+ isnβt just performative bc in 2013 they fined a driver 10k for using a homophobic slur, condemned indiana in a statement for an anti lgbt law, and partnered w carolinaβs lgbt+ chamber of conference in 2022. nascar was founded by anti-cop moonshiners/bootleggers who drove suped-up fords to out-run the police. #yaaascar
HELP
To this day, my favorite argument I ever had was with my Nascar-loving family about how a thin blue line flag on a Nascar is antithetical to the core tenets of Nascar. There is no organization more rooted in ACAB than Nascar. Literally, the only reason it exists was that a bunch of moonshining families had to build cars that could outrun the cops while on supply runs during the Prohibition Era. The goal was to make the car look like a regular vehicle so they could pick up supplies or drop off illegal alcohol without arousing suspicion. But if the cops were on you all you had to do was put the pedal to the metal and that little truck could outrun them with no problems. And of course, families would be in competition over who made the best alcohol, and whose car was fastest. So, they would have races on the weekends. When prohibition was lifted, the races continued. And that is why we have Nascar. It really frustrates me how people look at American car culture and scoff at it. Formula One racing is more exciting and more dynamic to watch, but the history of it is not as interesting: a bunch of rich assholes who made specialized cars for racing. And to this day, it is still a rich man's sport. Whereas Nascar was about a bunch of so-called hicks in the backwoods who used some basic hand tools and trial and error to make a junker into a racecar.

"The only person who can save you is yourself, don't rely on anybody else!"
Actually, what has saved me is books and my favourite video game and my cats and my friends who I've shared late nights and too-early mornings with and the dew-covered grass I walked on on the way to a competition bus in ninth grade band and the sunburn that kept me out of school for days the month prior.
I understand the viewpoint of how you are ultimately the person who can save you, but don't discount that you aren't an island. You aren't meant to be your sole savior. Let others save you, too. You are worth the care and love the universe has for you.

Grimielle. Grimielle Milliene Luckstar Johnson, or known as Hecate when sheβs on stage, originally grew up in the southern part of America, so like Georgia. Grim grew up in peaceful, but eerie places, and always loved throwing rocks at the swamp near her church. But that all changed when Grimielle and her parents moved to Verona for a more βfunβ lifestyle, not knowing that the rivalry of two families could and would make their lives harder to live.
Of course, Grimielle moved from a young age, so there wasnβt much she could remember of her childhood, except Verona and what was in Verona. Her first friend that she made was Tybalt, due to seeing him fighting alone, and just wanting to be a good person and become friends with him. The twoβs personalities contrasted, Tybalt have the urge to fight, and Grimielle just choosing the chill and eat burgers and tomatoes. Soon, the two got closer, and became close friends.
Grimielle also befriended Mercutio, but much later in life. The two met by Grimielle joining Rosalineβs band, and Mercutio saw Grim play the guitar. Mercutio pulled Grimielle aside, and complimented her guitar skills, which Grimielle smiled at, and they continued to talk. Soon, their talking became flirting, and they became closer too.
Grimielle always had an eerie feeling about her. It wasnβt from how she acted, dressed, or said. But she always acted like she knew more than she led on. Sometimes, she would be considered abnormal, or ethereal, by Rosalineβs words.
Grimielle grew up Christian, but was also raised with a few superstitions. Her parents are named Pauline and Monty. Her mom works for a grocery store, and her dad works as a pastor at a nearby church. Grimielle, however, is now agnostic.
I like it when songs do that thing where the chorus changes to get more upset or incensed each time
When it comes to music I am still an 11 year old who still thinks itβs cool when people curse
