TRIGGER WARNINGS: mentions of death, fire, grief, depression
Darcy was born and raised in San Diego, California, eldest daughter of Mitchel and Elaine Anthony. The Anthony's were a happy little family and they were well known in their town since Mitchel was the chief of police. Darcy and her sister bickered often, but siblings fighting over petty things was the only bad thing in the Anthony household.
Darcy was an adventurer when she was younger and even is now. She loved going out and finding things to do, people to play with, and new places to explore. She had a group of friends in high school who would always smoke together and explore abandoned buildings near their town. It was fun and they seldom got in trouble since Darcy's father could kind of sweep things under the rug. Things like, her breaking and entering said abandoned buildings.
Darcy and her friends had plans for the future and promised to be together forever, but a few nights after their high school graduation, there was a fire at one of their houses, and one friend, Knox, didn't make it. It was devastating, and while the rest of their little group mourned and grieved together, they eventually went their separate ways.
Darcy had always felt like they were invincible, so to be faced with mortality like that really hit her hard. She dealt with depression afterwards and she had already decided to take a break between high school and college, but she had plans to travel but she stayed home instead of doing her plans.
It was one night that Darcy was home alone, that she swore she heard the voice of her friend, Knox. Darcy had heard stories of ghosts and people speaking beyond the grave, but she never really put much thought into it. But she could never explain how she so clearly heard her friend's voice.
Darcy's family didn't believe what she heard and thought it had to be something easily explainable, but from then on, Darcy decided she would do whatever she could to prove that ghosts were real. She bought all the equipment she needed, she did research on places that were supposedly haunted, and she went out to ghost hunt. Sometime during this, she made her own YouTube channel where she would film her ghost hunts, traveling all over America to find her evidence.
Since reading up on some haunted locations in and near Chicago, Darcy moved to Marina Towers and she's going to find her proof, as well as prove that Marina is haunted itself.
Darcy had accidentally let Gucci-Dior, her orange kitten out of her room, and now the woman was frantically searching the building to find him. However, Darcy hadn't actually let the kitten out of her apartment and the kitten was sleeping peacefully on Darcy's pillow, but Darcy hadn't realized he was there and she was afraid that when she'd accidentally left the door open, he snuck out. She hadn't paid the pet deposit fee, so she needed to find this cat.
"Hey, um.. excuse me. Have you seen a cat anywhere? Hypothetically, of course." Was she using that correctly? Probably not.
"Do you know any good restaurants around here? Not pizza. The other day I ordered one and honestly thought they forgot the cheese, but turns out that Chicago-style pizza has the cheese put on before the sauce. Crazy! It was delicious, but I've already tried it so I wanna try something different. Something locals just love! Ya know?"
"Excuse me. Excuuussee meee! Dude, I'm talking to you!" Darcy jogged to catch up to the man she had randomly spotted walking in the building. "I have some questions for you. Whoa, wait a sec. That made me sound like my father! pfft" Darcy sputtered a laugh as she shook her head, realizing the way she worded it did make her sound like a police officer trying to question someone. "Anyway. I'm new to the building and I was wondering if you aren't new slash can I ask you some questions about your experiences here. That is, if you've had anything paranormal happen here."
"Does Chicago not like cheese?" Darcy asked Jameson as she stared down at the Chicago-style deep dish pizza she'd ordered for them, not realizing that the cheese was under the sauce.
It was late, like the witching hour late, as Darcy creeped through the halls of the Marina with a her camera in one hand and her iPhone or EVPs in the other. She made her way to the lobby and was going to find a spot where she could get ready for her investigation to begin, when she spotted a woman nearby.
"Hey... uh, what are you doing up this late?" Darcy asked, as though she wasn't the weird one for lugging equipment down to the lobby at god forsaken hours of the morning.
Darcy was standing in front of the vending machine, staring it as it had become the bane of her existence. All she wanted was her bag of potato chips and now she was just looking at them, wedged between the glass and the little shelves stocked with the goodies taunting her with their deliciousness.
"What if I just.." She trailed off as she moved and crouched down, shoving her hand into the opening where her potato chips should have already fallen where she could get them. "what if I just... reeeaaach.." Was it a bad idea? Yeah. Was that going to stop her from trying? Absolutely not. And as Darcy realized her arm wasn't long enough (or enough like Mr. Fantastic to maneuver it in a way where she even could reach it), let out a defeated huff and began pulling her arm out. Only... it didn't really move much. Was she... stuck?
"CRAP!" Darcy exclaimed and then she looked over to see someone nearby and she felt no embarrassment at all somehow as she said, "Hey, man, you think you could help me out?"
