me the minute i sit down to write: language is an unwieldy cudgel we use to beat the human experience to death in an attempt at ever communicating fully with another being. i wish intelligent life had never evolved. i want to go back to the cell stage like in spore
you don’t need an excuse for being good to yourself, you can be good to yourself just because. even if everything went wrong, even if you feel like you haven’t achieved anything in a while, even if you’ve been unproductive and tired, you’re still allowed to treat and take care of yourself.
Also in my experience, sometimes you’ve been unproductive and tired BECAUSE YOU NEED MORE SELF CARE.
It’s not lazy to need rest/a snack/a fun activity/socialization- it’s literally how humans work. Sometimes I think “I can’t take a break; I’ve been working on this for hours and made barely any progress.” Then I take a break anyway - only to come back and finish it quickly because it’s easy now that I’m running on a full tank again.
You don’t need to earn fuel. You need the fuel to do the things in the first place.
After you leave a toxic or abusive environment, a lot of normal things are going to feel weird, and just plainly awful at the beginning. Buying that thing you've always wanted can make you feel guilty for spending money on yourself. Resting can feel a lot more like being lazy. Safety and happiness can feel so temporary, almost like you are just waiting for life to get bad again.
It's normal, it's part of the process. You will get used to be at peace. To feel joy. To be safe. I know you will<3
