Reading through Sansa’s chapter and she mentions that the hound kissed her
Theon greyjoy was sooo dumb and stupid in a clash of kings:
Like he takes winterfell and then he’s like oh shit how tf am i going to defend it. ‘Oh let me ask for help from my sister. Ugh my sister doesn’t want to help me and is even telling me to leave winterfell. She’s such a bitch, does she not see THAT I AM the prince of winterfell now. she doesn’t realize the greatness I have achieved. Hmm I keep having these horrible nightmares while sleeping in the now dead eddard chambers, oh well let me not read too much into these dreams. Soo, i still need help to keep holding winterfell so let me turn too… ah of course let me trust this really untrustworthy guy named reek who kinda gives me the creeps. Well this dude still hasn’t returned and ser Rodrick is literally right outside my doors so i guess its time to surrender. OMG THE REINFORCEMENTS CAME let me open the doors i need to thank them for serving the prince of winterfell, which is me. See everything worked out great. I still have winterfell so fuck all my haters who said I couldn’t do it, especially you asha! Well shit this reek guy is actually the bastard ramsay and i just got my shit rocked and im just lying on the ground. Where on gods earth did it all go wrong surely this didn’t happen because of my decisions?’
And yes he actually became my favorite pov character in acok.
To me one of the saddest moment in asoiaf was when tyrion meets Oberyn martell. When oberyn begins to talk about Tyrion’s birth and all those rumors about Tyrion being monstrous and having a tail. And when Cersei twisted his private parts as a baby. That made me feel so sad😭 Cersei is so hateful even when she was a child(I do not like her even though I am sympathetic towards her sometimes). Holding so much malice towards an innocent baby is so evil😔(looking at u tywin and cersei especially)
Anytime, Tyrion is around his family I feel so bad because if he were born without any disabilities Tywin would value him so much more. If he was ‘normal’ he would have probably been well respected and loved by people. Like Tyrion’s downfall ever since birth has been his disability—something that he can’t ever control.
Also Jon’s internal struggles is because of the way he was born. I understand Jon and Tyrion. You guys get treated unfairly for things you can’t control😞
Tyrion constantly being put down by a parent or being seen as less because of his disability is literally so realistic. GRRM is able to portray Ableism so well.
I’m currently reading asos and I have to get something off my chest.
Dany has been my least favorite pov chapters so far. Which is kind of disappointing since I went in reading thinking I would really enjoy them😭 All the pov chapters have been great but hers are the ones I have least enjoyed overall
Obviously, I think her ending chapter of got and the house of the undying chapter were great but other than that idk i feel meh when it comes to her chapters😞 and it feels weird because so far I’ve pretty much enjoyed every pov character chapter(tyrion’s chapters can be a little boring but most of them are good imo. Like I know dany is a good and interesting character but I haven’t liked her povs that much. (I do not hate her okay!)
I did reread GOT so her chapters felt better to enjoy but then she barely appears in acok and its just like disappointing. Maybe its that she feels so far removed from whats going on in the story or that i just finished reading acok where she barely appears.
I have been enjoying her chapters so far in asos so i hope I continue to enjoy them🙏
Also jorah is such a weirdo he needs to get away from dany Immediately!
Rant incoming:
With AO3 being down I just wanted to talk about how worrying it is that there have been journalists/articles that are sharing links to fics and actors are also talking about fanfiction. This is being used as a way to promote shows/media. This is incredibly wrong for so many reasons
1. These articles/Journalists are linking the work of fanfic authors. These authors, im 100% were not made aware of that their fanfics are being shared as a way to promote a show.
2. Fanfic authors on AO3 do not profit from their work. In fact I believe AO3 strongly discourages authors from having a patreon linked to their fics. On AO3 fanfic work is FREE yet some articles are using these fanfics to promote other media. This is literally capitalism. An author is making something for free YET others are making money because they are using the free work of others as promotion.
3. Adding on to point 1&2 there are scary implications to using fanfic as a way to promote films/shows. What if companies/studios suddenly decide to start writing fanfic just as a way to promote. That’s literally insane but if it makes them money they do not care.
4. This invites a mass amount of people onto AO3. Now I love fanfic and I love when others discover it too BUT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE DISCOVERING SUCH A PLATFORM FROM JOURNALISTS OR ACTORS. People need to find out on their own.
5. Adding on to my last point. You are inviting people who have no idea what fandom etiquette means. On AO3 you will come across a variety of fics some you might like and some that to you are ‘problematic’. But what do you do when you see tags that trigger you. You ignore it or even mute the tag. ‘DNI’ Do not interact. Don’t read if you don’t like. These new incomers do not UNDERSTAND THAT. Hell, some people who have been reading fanfic still don’t get that through their heads.
I know I sound like im a gatekeeper. But I don’t care about newcomers and idc about people sharing ao3 links EXCEPT when actors and journalists are introducing AO3 to mass audiences!
“All interpretations matter! Let people interpret it how they want” no bro their interpretation sucks. It was taken out of their ass because that interpretation literally makes NO SENSE AT ALL TO THE STORY. Like the least someone can do when interpreting something is to make it make sense and connect it to the story.
JJK Spoilers!
.
.
.
I like jjk I really do and I like Maki too but saying that the Clan massacre was way better than Itachi’s storyline regarding the clan massacre is bizzare. Naruto as an anime has its faults but JJK is not better than Naruto(Naruto is a very popular anime for a reason).
Like these takes are ass and saying these things are only going to bring unnecessary hate towards Maki and JJK in general. 😭
How it feels when all your favorite characters are always somehow the most hated on in a fandom
Caleb keeps asking me to do something with him every minute while I’m over here stressing just trying to decorate my house.
He’s acting like he got nothing better to do as if he’s not a whole colonel🙄
Invisigal Confessing to Robert:
“Dude, I like really love you.”
“I really love you too…Dude”
“Don’t call me dude, dude. I just confessed. You’re supposed to be calling me one of those disgustingly mushy names couples give each other”
“Hmm thought you didn’t like all that mushy stuff. Should I call you sweetheart, darling, my love, honey, or maybe…babe?
“…Don’t call me babe.”
“Ah…So no to that, but yes to all the other nicknames?”
“Fiction affects reality”
Oh!🤨So when you see k*lling in fiction you feel like k*lling in real life. When you see abuse in fiction, you feel like abusing in real life. When you see guns in fiction, you want to get a gun in real life. When you see pseudocest/inc*st in fiction, you want to f*ck your sibling(s) in real life. When you see assault in fiction, you feel life assaulting someone in real life. When you see a villian doing heinous acts in fiction, you want to commit crimes in real life. When you see any sort of violence in fiction, you want violence in real life too . When you see a character be an assh*ole in fiction, you feel like being an assh*ole in real life. You’re a very weird person if you feel like fiction will affect who you are in real life.
Now if you’re a hard believer of “fiction affects reality” and want everything in fiction to be moral, then I can assume that, one, you are a minor and can’t consume media in a safe manner so you shouldn’t even be in these spaces or two, you’re a mentally unwell person who should see a psychiatrist/Phycologist.
Or the secret 3rd option: You have a very smooth brain with no common sense and a superiority complex.
I honestly think its the opposite: “reality affects fiction”. For example if violence wasn’t a concept in real life and all we ever knew was peace how in the world could we write about something that we’ve never seen or heard of or experienced. All media takes elements from real life(whether big or small)even if the stuff written is scifi/fantasy/etc.
Btw IT IS COMPLETELY OKAY to not be comfortable with certain things in fiction but it is NOT your job to be policing people on what they should or should not be consuming in fiction. You should also stop coming up with dumb arguments to get people to agree with you. Just say you don’t like something and move on you don’t have to belittle or be rude to people who like the stuff you don’t.
trust every 8 out of 10 people who said they’re uninstalling the game because of the Caleb card have in fact not uninstalled it. Some people just love having moral olympics when it comes to purely fictional stories.
Daenerys literally doing anything
Irri and Jhiqui: “You can’t do that. It is known.”
Um a real [insert small chested female character] enjoyer wouldn’t give her bigger boobs☝️
Is anyone else getting bored of lads or is it just me
Love the boys with all my heart but all I do nowadays is just login for my rewards. Honestly I just end up spending more time on reading fics of the guys than I do playing the game.
GUYS FORGET EVERYTHING I SAID THE NEW SYLUS MYTH TRAILER DROPPED AND HE’S A VAMPIRE WITH WINGS!
I've been thru SA and I honestly find it more upsetting when ppl call that scene with invisigal and Robert SA.
From what I've been thru, and not at all trying to invalidate someone else's trauma or feelings Abt what they've been thru, I don't see how a kiss is SA
It was a kiss. The scene was messy and could've been better and it's not okay to just go all in on anyone that way but calling it SA IS too far for me and extremely upsetting BC these ppl wanna talk Abt "SA isn't taken srsly with men!" But meanwhile they're making it into a joke themselves with visi.
Like U mentioned in one post ppl calling her "inviSAgal" or "little Ms sa" like bro you cant complain Abt those things not being taken srsly and then make it unserious. And also I don't see why it's this whole thing with invisigal Abt SA when malevola ACTUALLY touched his dick without consent and he verbally showed how uncomfy he was but NO ONE IS talking abt ts. Instead we're calling a kiss, which you had the choice to pull away and if you did Robert would pull away, SA.
Idk its just so bothersome to me. All of that to say thank you for your post and how well you worded it and everything.
Thank you so much for saying I worded it well. I was really worried about coming off dismissive or even offensive.
You made a really good point on malevola. Personally I feel like her touching his private part is worse based off what I have experienced in my life.
I feel like if people are going to have a conversation about SA they have to include what malevola did😭(I’ve only seen a few people talk about what malevola did seriously). I also saw some jokes about malevola, some people calling her a groper in a joking manner. which gets me annoyed because if you want to put such a label on a character please do it seriously. At the end of the day I love all the dispatch characters and I understand what malevola did was supposed to be “funny” so I look past the scene.
Honestly I have a theory that some people a problem with these scenes from dispatch because of the “Office work setting” Like characters doing these things feel more serious to some people because its an office and HR violations are a thing. I mean people have made compilations of all the HR violations in dispatch. So I feel the office setting might play a tiny role to how people feel about these scenes.
On a side note I feel that people should have more conversations about the writers instead of the characters. I know they weren’t trying to make anything seem like SA and I don’t really consider any scenes SA but some people certainly do( To each their own). If they make a season 2 I hope the writers take note of all the discourse and put more thought into the actions of characters.
I havent posted in a while but Im coming back because this whole conversation just pissed me off so much. I am also a victim of Sa and regardless of how you feel about these characters specifically, kissing or touching someone in anyway without consent or if the person tries to push back, its assault. Period. End of discussion. And its really shitty the way its put here as if a kiss cant be considered sa. And like I said, its not about the characters specifically (tho I have many opinions on that), its about the discussion being brought up here and acting as if a kiss cant be considered assault just because some ppl have been through worse. Thats a bad mentality to have. Thats the attitude that invalidates ppl who maybe were "just" kissed without consent or a slight touch, but it still made them uncomfortable. Those ppl have a right to their personal bubble and deserve to be validated when someone invades that bubble, regardless of whether its a kiss or full on sexual acts. I mean, just because what I have been through, personally, may have been considered more than a kiss, doesnt mean that a person who was "only" kissed cant have the same feelings of shame and being violated as me. Fix your mindset.
I apologize if I came off with the impression that I don’t believe that a kiss shouldn’t be considered SA. In REAL LIFE in someone is unexpectedly kissed they are well within their rights to call it SA. In real life people have the right to feel uncomfortable about a kiss.
In the context of the game, I was saying that the malevola scene comes off as worse to ME because she touched Robert’s private part and he made a comment saying “she just touched my” before he was interrupted. The conversation of malevola is to show that some people bring up the locker room scene with invisigal but completely disregard the scene with malevola.
I probably haven’t made myself clear regarding the posts I made about my opinion on the invisigal locker scene. But the point I’ve been trying to get at is that I myself don’t hold the cliche of an unexpected kiss to the same moral standards as REAL LIFE. In real life any form of un consensual actions I do not and will never support. In many forms of media though I have seen the unexpected kiss trope countless of times(I recently saw the trope in a show I was watching). So to ME specifically it doesn’t register as being SA because most of the time this trope is written as being an emotional scene which is what the invisigal locker scene was trying to get it. Do I think the writers handled the scene well, no but I don’t consider it SA because it’s just something I’ve seen so many times in books, shows, movies, etc. Again if such thing happened in REAL LIFE I UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD DEFEND OR SUPPORT IT. However, I must say that if a kiss in media is clearly portrayed as SA(the writer(s) are trying to portray a story of assault) I would hold it to the same moral standards as real life. But to me the writers in dispatch just used the classic unexpected kiss trope during an scene intended to be full of emotions.
I’m just giving my opinion on the scene and adding on to the people that have agreed with me. I’m not trying to invalidate what people have sadly gone though in real life. I am only speaking about the game.If someone thinks of the scene of SA then that is their opinion.
I hope I was able to communicate my thinking more clearly. And if not, I’m sorry. I’ve tried my best to communicate my thoughts on this topic
