Hi Grace! Hi Grace Friend!

Project Hail Mary's been on my mind for a month-ish now, and I'm loving the book so far, so it naturally follows that I had to make a Rocky at some point. Here he is.

Made out of aluminum foil, epoxy putty, wire, and painted with acrylics. He's fully poseable, and has articulated hands. I tried to be as on-model to movie Rocky as possible.

Fun to make. I'll probably get around to making him his party dress (bits of wire), and maybe even a ball eventually (so he not die in Grace atmosphere), so stay tuned for that.

I'm coming to realize how vital it is to keep a running list of shit you did in the past few weeks so that you can participate in small talk. It's literally not anything to do with them being interesting at all it's just having Something to say to give people even the barest thing to hold on to. It's so you don't get into the "what have you been up to" "nothing much what about you" "yeah same" trap. Literally just say something.

What have you been up to? Um well it's getting warmer so I've been having to brush my cat every day.

Like no it's not that interesting of a thing to say. But now they can respond to it. They could say, man yeah it really is heating up, I've been trying to think of things to do inside more often. Or, oh you have a cat? What's their name?

Like. It's Something. All you need is Something. And if you're like me and your brain immediately goes blank upon entering small talk then keeping a list will help you remember things to say.

emergency situation

I'm in an emergency situation. I have bills I can't pay and medicine I need but can't afford.

I'm trying to raise as close to 700 as I can for groceries, necessities and bills.

I only just started with a new client and won't get paid for two weeks. I went to the ER on the 11th and they said I have acute bronchitis. Medicine I need is 35 alone for that. I also have a small puncture and air pockets in my left lung that are being watched.

Also still without gas and can't even take a cold shower anymore because the pain is too bad.

I'm working on finishing folks comm works and will have those available once I do. I apologize on slow progress there. I will add pics of the ER paperwork and everything else I can for proof. For additional verification please ask privately and I can share there with 0 trouble. Am not doxxing myself on main. I can also show where what gets paid where. Payback at a later date is also doable.

"crochet can't be made by machines" went from being a cool fun fact to being a call to action of "so if you see mass manufactured crochet in Target, that was made by a person and they were underpaid and you should boycott it" which is true, it was made by a person, but EVERY item of clothing you own (that you did not purchase from a company using ethical labor) was made by a person being underpaid (at *best*.)

Sewing machines are operated by *people*. Knitting machines are operated by *people*. Yes lots of the process is automated but you cannot tell a machine "make me a t-shirt" or "make me a knit cardigan".

Higher awareness of fast fashion, and the true human labor and abuse behind it, is GREAT, but let's not pretend that the crochet hat in target is THE problem. Every article of clothing in target is the problem. "All clothes are made by people" is the jumping off point here into understanding this issue it's not just crochet it's the whole thing ahhhhHHHHHHHHHH

Day #2 with baby Apollo.

Naomi and Apollo are giving each other kisses through the cage bars!

The little fella hopped up onto the pellet container to try to give Naomi kisses.

She was so excited that she was biting the cage bars (she does this when treats or anything else she likes is in-bound despite our best efforts to train her out of it), so I had to gently steer the little fella away because she gets in the zone when she's spun-up excited. Baby Apollo was so offended that I was trying to keep him away from his new friend that he lightly boxed at my hands. Sorry little buddy--it's for your own good; you can give her kisses later. (Don't want a misunderstanding if his little nose was accidentally nibbled!)
