DARROW HAWTHORNE. 31. CIS MAN. HE/HIM is here! They’ve lived in Cascade for 31 YEARS and currently reside in MERCURY FLATS. DAR is a NIGHT TIME SECURITY GUARD AT THE PROSPECTOR and frequently hears that they look a lot like BRANDON SKLENAR. Funny, huh? If ever caught by Letterboxd, they’d say FIGHT CLUB is in their Top 4 and the theme song to their life’s soundtrack would be OUTLAW OVERTURE by MGK.

BIO:
Darrow Hawthorne did not officially exist until 2012.
Unofficially, Darrow was born on October 13th 1994 in the Outskirts of Cascade, the only child of Tripp (as he was known at the time) Hawthorne and Jeanie Wilson.
As per their mutual agreement -- mutual being a loose term between a silver tongued grifter and an easily swayed common law wife -- his birth was never registered and his name did not appear on any official government documents.
As a self-proclaimed sovereign citizen, Tripp had no intention of ever sending his son to a traditional school or any other establishment that he deemed as a beacon of government surveillance. This resulted in Darrow being 'homeschooled'.
His curriculum was unorthodox to say the least. He learned to read, write and appreciate math but that was where his education started and stopped resembling that of any mainstream one. Tripp taught him skills he deemed necessary rather than what he had learned in schools himself, how to shoot, hunt, fix cars, check electronics for any tampering or concealed listening devices and to be a captive audience to his many longwinded rants on what he thought the truths of the worlds were.
By the time he was ten, Tripp's audience had extended and his reach was wider. He began taking himself and his alternative life views on the road, much to Darrow's mother's upset.
She began to accompany him on his out of town talks when Darrow was 13.
By 14, she didn't return from a 4 day round trip to Arizona.
According to Hank (as Tripp was going by at that time), she had abandoned both him and their family and wasn't to be mentioned again.
Knowing no different, Darrow hadn't asked anything further.
His latter teen years were spent between the Outskirts, the library in town and occasionally on the road with his father as he drummed up both interest and enemies.
His self-education soon became a source of contention between the pair of them as questions started to form that his father didn't take kindly to being asked.
It all came to a head four months shy of Darrow's nineteenth birthday when he had sprung news of his marriage on Tripp. His anger didn't stem from the stupid impulsivity of a pair of teenagers in love but rather from the lengths that his son had gone to to try and secure it.
After getting the notion in his head at aged 17, Darrow had gone behind Tripp's back and tracked down Jeanie who had since re-married (legally) and now had two daughters. With her assistance, he had set about registering his own birth.
After months of questions, affidavits, investigations and verifications he finally received his delayed birth certificate at 18.
He was married two weeks later.
He was disowned two days after that.
Tripp was incensed by his son's conformity, his willingness to share information about him and their family the ultimate betrayal to him. The last time they spoke, Darrow was informed that he was a traitor and his greatest disappointment.
This sent him on a heavy downward spiral, one that only worsened when he turned on the news on Christmas Eve 2013 to a breaking news bulletin about a shootout in the Outskirts.
Several injuries, one fatality.
He had known before the name was released who it was.
Raymond "Hawtorn Haughthorne Hank Hasim Hugo Hector" Hawtorne's official cause of death was noted as suicide by cop.
The loss of his father and any chance of reconciliation proved to be destabilising for Darrow, resulting in the end of his marriage and any chance of the future he had envisioned for himself.
His divorce was finalized by the time he was 20.
By 23, he had re-married. His relationship with his second wife as as tumultuous as the soul in his body felt. High highs, low lows, a bandaid baby boy born on Darrow's 25th birthday and another divorce finalized by 26.
With no education or work experience, his 'career' had been unorthodox to say the least. Odd jobs were what got him by, whether or not they were legal didn't phase him.
It did phase the local police and Darrow soon found that being an official citizen had as many cons as it did pros. His rap sheet grew in tandem with his disillusionment and he found himself in and out of jail for a number of petty crimes from theft, driving without a license, shoplifting, public intoxication and more.
By 28, he was married again. If asked to explain this one, he can't beyond a drunken notion and an attempt at solidifying something in his life so the ground beneath him didn't feel as shaky as it did.
The most serious of his convictions rolled around in the same year. A bar fight turned into something more serious when he had thrown a punch that had landed too well. Simple assault became aggravated with the shattering of a jaw in two places. County jail had been bumped up to state prison and he received two years and a ten thousand dollar fine.
Two significant life events occurred while he was behind bars: his third divorce and his 30th birthday.
He tried to use his prison time as well as he could, obtaining a GED while while serving out his sentence.
Released in August 2025.
Eventually found his first actual job as a night time security guard at the Prospector. It's slow but he doesn't mind it so much.
Lived at the hotel (without permission) for three months before getting his own place in Mercury Flats in December 2025.
PERSONALITY.
+ self-sufficient, loyal, resilient.
- paranoid, argumentative, spiteful.
BONUS ROUND.
has been able to drive from age 12 and was often seen speeding around the Outskirts.
didn't get an actual driver's license until he was 27.
didn't own a phone until he was 23 and still isn't the biggest fan of them. isn't the most reachable due to it.
doesn't have social media, he heavily distrusts it. don't ask him about anything trending he don't have a daaaamn clue.
kind of a deadbeat as far as being a dad goes but he's doing his best to turn that around. or sort of his best, depending on the day.
has never fully believed that the report he's read on the day his father died and the events that unfolded is what actually happened. he's got a lot of gnawing questions on it but at present it's not a pandora's box he's mentally able to open.
has never met his younger sisters, which is something both he and his mother are comfortable with.
doesn't always pick up on social cues correctly thanks to his isolated upbringing.
will argue for the fuck of it, does not care if he's right or wrong.

SPECIFIC WANTED CONNECTIONS.
da wives: will require heavy plotting no matter which one and i have a bunchhhh of hc's already for each dynamic but the general vibe of each is:
young love, the kind that makes you shift your whole worldview and move mad to keep it. most likely a case of right person, wrong lifetime. non-negotiable is they have to be the same age due to the time they got hitched / their prior relo before that. rapid fire inspo: 'you’ll be the love of my life when i was young / when the night is over don’t call me up i’m already under'
wrong love, the kind that makes you gradually lose your humanity when it comes to the other person. absolutely toxic as fuck. they do their best for their son but civility is forced. loved each other once, i doubt they ever liked each other. rapid fire inspo: 'your heart's so heavy, your heart is strange / you're not so heavenly and i'm not sure you're for me'
long love, def a friends to spouses sitch. darrow's not the best at nuance when it comes to relos, easily confuses platonic affection for romantic. far more amicable a split than his second marriage, whether a friendship was salvaged is tbd. rapid fire inspo: 'wild like a cyclone and dizzy like the water / please forgive me i lied but i'm honest'
childhood friends: those he formed bonds with when he started sneaking into town from the outskirts from age 12 onwards. open to any variety of these.
outskirts outlaws: doesn't have to be actual outlaws but people he grew up with / around while living there for most of his life. open to any kind of dynamic!
half siblings: his dad absolutelyyyy has several from his time on the road, would love to plot out how they know each other (if they do, could be a case of just finding out and meeting!).
nuisances: anyone he's had to kick outta the hotel, reasons can be determined. let's beef KJAHGFSFGHSJ
folks who knew or knew of his dad: weird guy, pretty well known because of it and because of how he died. open to any kind of dynamic stemming from that.
exes: king of seeking validation in all the wrong places, open to any kind but will need to plot to know the vibe / to work out timelines.
hookups, one night stands, etc: open to current or past, down to wing or plot out!
friends, enemies, everything in between: give meee
