I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: it’s more important to know and understand fully why something is harmful than it is to drop everything deemed problematic. It’s performative and does nothing. People wonder why nobody has critical thinking skills and this is part of it because no one knows how to simousltansly critique and consume media. You need to use discernment.
the occult implications of large parts of modern society being okay with "pleather" and "vegan leather" (plastics and micro plastics existing everywhere from placentas to the bottom of the ocean), rather than using the skins of animals who will ultimately die no matter what we do
a sizable amount of people are so unable to cope with the process of life and death, even that of a cow, that they'd knowingly poison their bodies and help poison the earth with fuckin' Forever Trash so they can feel like their hands are clean. wack

There is no consistency in Republican politics.
The parties are not the same, I say for the billionth time
France has gone full Nazi against the Muslims
“French President Emmanuel Macron has asked Muslim leaders to accept a “charter of republican values” as part of a broad clampdown on radical Islam.
President Macron has also announced new measures to tackle what he called “Islamist separatism” in France.
The measures include a wide-ranging bill that seeks to prevent radicalisation. It was unveiled on Wednesday, and includes measures such as:
Restrictions on home-schooling and harsher punishments for those who intimidate public officials on religious grounds
Giving children an identification number under the law that would be used to ensure they are attending school. Parents who break the law could face up to six months in jail as well as large fines
A ban on sharing the personal information of a person in a way that allows them to be located by people who want to harm them
“We must save our children from the clutches of the Islamists,” Mr Darmanin told the Le Figaro newspaper on Wednesday. The draft law will be discussed by the French cabinet on 9 December.
Earlier this year, President Macron described Islam as a religion “in crisis” and defended the right of magazines to publish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. Such depictions are widely regarded as taboo in Islam and are considered highly offensive by many Muslims.
Following these comments, the French leader became a figure of hate in several Muslim-majority countries. Protesters have also called for a boycott of French products.
France has western Europe’s largest Muslim population.”
TLDR;
• Children will be given an IDENTIFICATION NUMBER to help locate them.
• Imams must register.
• No political actions as Muslims.
Macron is going full Marine Le Pen
bc sometimes basic analogies help:
imagine having red hair and not having a name for red. imagine being the only redhead in a small town, where no one knows that red hair is a thing that exists. so you grow up being told your hair is just “rusty brown” or “strawberry blonde.” and even though that doesn’t feel right, you learn not to say anything. because even if other people can also tell those labels don’t quite fit, they aren’t about to create a label just for you. after all, it works just fine for everyone else. and when you think about it, you have things in common with brunettes and blondes. so maybe you are just making. a fuss.
then one day you learn people in other towns are claiming to have red hair. you learn this, in fact, because people around you are laughing at them, because it is such a nonsensical thing, for people to pretend to have red hair. because everyone knows, that’s not a real thing. otherwise they would have seen it already.
but while people laugh, you stand very still, in shock, because you never knew there were other people. you thought you were the only one, which meant you weren’t real.
so you find out more about these people, people who might be like you, who have all shades of red hair and call themselves redheads. you read their words and look at their photos and it’s all very familiar. and slowly you start confiding in people around you.
you tell them: “you know how hair has always been a weird shade? well it turns out it’s not weird, there’s a name for it.” and some of these people believe you, and some don’t really understand, because “it just looks like a different shade of brown to me.” and some people say you’re making it up, and some people think that maybe you should just dye it brown instead of making such a fuss. and it seems everyone has an opinion on your hair, and on whether or not it exists, and on whether or not it should even be mentioned in polite conversation.
and the kick of it is, you can point to your hair, which is right there on your head, for everyone to see. and you can say “how can I possibly not exist, look at me.” but reality doesn’t matter to people who have already decided other colors don’t exist.

Abortion Clinic Employee Shares How Some Pro-Life Women Act When They Come In As Customers
I am not surprised that anti-choice zealots would hypocritically obtain abortions, but I am thoroughly fucking shocked that they wouldn’t even attempt to hide their anti-choice views when doing so.
So proud of my mother for doing her own research after I sent her that meme. A sign she hung in her car window.
Stay woke
Is this true?
Not only is it true, it gets worse. The Susan G Komen For The Cure Foundation has actually successfully sued “competing” charities, because (paraphrasing) their “message or branding was infringing.”
You read that correctly: they took money that people had donated to cure cancer, and hired attorneys with it, to sue ANOTHER group of people trying to find a cure for cancer, who, in turn, had to us their donated money to hire their own legal counsel to defend themselves.
Yeah signal boost because not enough people know about this and seriously FUCK SUSAN G. KOMEN THEY ARE THE ACTUAL WORST

Also please never forget the pink fracking drill bit
that’s right fracking you know, a process using chemicals known to cause cancer that leech into the water supply

It’s that time of year again, please remember Komen is the actual worst
Komen For The Cure is pretty much awful.
My mother died in 1996 from breast cancer. Most cancer charities are scams, in that people throw fancy parties and get rich off them and very little money goes into research or support for patients. Here are some vetted cancer charities that get good scores on Charity Navigator and pay medical expenses or fund research:
Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Cancer Research Institute
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Every question they get wrong they lose more money, from their current savings, to one million.
The questions are all things ordinary people should know.
“Whats the cost of a loaf of bread?”
“What’s the minimum wage?”
And then we move on to practical demonstrations later,
“change this car’s tire”
Or even, “change the bag on this vacuum cleaner.”
And the final question should probably be “how much tax should your company be paying?”
can we also turn this into a bloodsport and make them feel pain when they get 5 wrong in a row
You know what I love?
Reminding people that the majority of wage theft is committed by “small, local” businesses and that their idealizing of small businesses is stupid
All my worst bosses have been small business owners — the problem isn’t the size of the business, it’s that the relationship is exploitative. When someone decides to be a capitalist, making money through their investments rather than through their labour, their position relative to changes in the city becomes fundamentally different. Gentrification, as an example: when rents go up, it means they make more money (rather than lose their home); when prices go up and rich people move in, it means a chance to sell luxury goods (while we work for minimum wage); when more police and surveillance come in, it secures your investment (while we get harassed and pushed out). They are getting rich because our lives are getting worse.

And if its a really small buisness a lot of worker protections straight up do not cover those places. Osha only covers you if there are 10+ employees. ADA only covers employers with 15+ employees. The Civil Rights act only applies if there are 15+ employees.
The glorification of the small buisness is directly tied to the fact that they have almost complete control and lack of accountability to any law systems.
