Gillovny timeline headcanon
Inspired by your gillovny timeline I’ve created my own which is very similar to yours but with more details because details are very important to the whole picture! Everything is based on what I’ve read, heard or seen in the last several years. My English sucks so excuse my mistakes.
In my mind, everything has started in 2007 when they have met at CC place before IWTB shooting. They both admitted it was very emotional meeting for them, full of feels and tears, etc. During IWTB press tour they had had many interviews together and I remember my thoughts from that period that DD seemed like a man in love. With her. But of course, he was with Tea, she was with Mark, and pregnant, so subject forgotten.
She flies from London to see his play. He is very much surprised even though she said to him she’d come. From the pics we have from that night DD seems to be very excited and happy by her presence there. Tea is also very friendly and invites GA for their home party (cannot remember when I’ve read about it so cannot confirm if this is legit). By that time their marriage seems ok, Tea is very supportive for David. But in a next few months, marriage is death. According to many reports and rumors, it was over before the end of the year but they both sustain things because of kids. I don’t dare conjecture it had anything to do with G but I go there sometimes with my thoughts.
There is still some distance between them, you can easily believe they are friends who see each other very rarely. But David invites Gillian to Cali set - according to people who have heard him. There is a high possibility she accepted it and visited him there. Half a year later her relationship with Mark is over. December is the last month she is seen with him at the official events (at least according to GAWS’s photo gallery).
is a very strange and tricky year for them. I think they try to figure out if a relationship between them will work or is it worth the risk because of their complicated history and growing friendship. I also believe Gillian was much more uncertain and needed more time and I think DD had much work to do to persuade her and prove his devotion because he fucked up in the past. They definitely spend a lot of time together in the summer and for some weird reasons she is waiting half a year to announce her split from Mark. I don’t buy the theory she had a plan to do this in David’s birthday. At least it wasn’t a plan until the summer when maybe some things have developed between them and she thought that his birthday would be a good idea for doing it. I don’t know.
Things are still progressing between them. There is a noticeable difference between IBG event and SDCC. They seem much close, there are an intimacy, looks and touches and whispers and everything. I don’t necessarily believe they said true to this journalist about this talk about their past. I think it was much personal and they just didn’t want to talk about it with anyone except each other and having whole 2012 year I cannot believe they never talked about it especially if they’d wish to try to be together. And then we had NYC events and I remember I was like wtf is going on?! The Paley was so steamy and moist and everything that it blew my mind. Seriously. In my headcanon, they were a couple at this time. They both were fully committed and I will never believe in FWB stories because they were too close as friends and there was a deep affection between them. There was also this steamy report from @campaignofmisinformation’s friend and I don’t see a reason to not believe it. Mostly because there were other reports too like one of the film critics wrote on his twitter that he saw Gillian and David at some panel party and that he thinks they are a couple because they acting like one. Some people saw their hands holding when they thought no one was watching. And this steamy red carpet at Paley… As I remember correctly around late 2013 David filed a divorce and he got it around June 2014. He was waiting for another two months with announcing it. And this time, I will not believe in any coincidence. He’s done it on purpose, it was his birthday present for her. Around 2014/2015 their relationship got much serious and when Gillian said in one of her interviews at the beginning of 2015 , that her next relationships will be The One, I know she meant David and I believe she was ready to admit it to herself. So I don’t know about you but I am also ready to see it and hear it. The Emmys would be a great opportunity for them. I don’t believe in any announce to press, etc. and much more in some very low-key coming out. If they show up at Emmys together, this will be a low-key confirmation for me. There is also a chance at Gillovnycon. They know they will be watched ;-) but I think Gillian will give no fucks about it and David will lose it eventually because he loses it everytime he is near her. I don’t believe they will disappoint us in any way ;-)
Except a few details, this is pretty much my headcanon too. I think Gillian and Mark broke up sooner than we think, and I don’t buy the birthday theory. They both seem to have great relationship with their exes, and it would be quite disrespectful to them. But, it’s a (un)fortunate coincidence… Also, I go back and forth to whom initiate the relationship around 2012. I always thought Gillian was more into him than he was in the 90s, and I think she wanted him to make the first move and make sure it was for good this time. I agree they got serious and committed around 2013, and one can dream for some coming out this year!
