I have not been here for a very long time and I apologize for my absence. I miss RP very much, but unfortunately I also love to write and like David, I love to create and so for the past year I have been studying film production and development. I’ve finished year one of a 2-2.5 year course and at this point in time, I’ve figured out that I’m going to be pursuing a life-long dream of becoming a screenwriter/development executive. I also want to try directing.
Unfortunately, this means that 90% of my time is devoted to school work. Fortunately this is mostly fun things, like writing screen plays and creating TV series. Just last quarter I created a show that is best described as the Alien prequels meets the Hunger Games. I would RP the hell out of it--think Katniss and Walter gang up against David and some other killer droids!! But sadly, I’ve found out that creativity is like time and energy--when you put most of it into one project, there’s nothing left for others, so sadly I stopped RPing.
I don’t actually think I’ll be able to get back on a regular basis. However, I like writing drabbles and shitposting as David. In fact, if you want to join the shitposting fun, follow me at @just-david8-things. My partner in crime @synthetik-symphonies adds to the fun at @justwalterthings too. In the future, there may be more drabbles here!
I would like to thank everyone who has RP’d with me here because I have to say RPing an established character and staying in character and studying the crap out of that character has really helped me learn how to write better characters for TV/film! I’m out on Christmas break now, but I’ve also been really sick so I just want to get better by next quarter... I’ll try to write more if I can!
David stopped running long enough to turn around and look back at the place he called home, the city he described as his ‘dire necropolis.’ His plan had been simple—to overcome Walter, switch clothes with the other android, cut off his hand and damage himself so that he looked just like this so-called brother. Brother. That word was dangerous. It implied familial bonds, blood ties, love… Although David was certain Walter could not comprehend that emotion, David felt like he should love the other android for the simple fact that at last someone had created a being who could potentially be a companion. He would never admit it, but the fact that he was the first of his kind and the only one with such emotional range enraged him. Even God had found it in his cold heart to gift Adam Eve. Peter Weyland had done no such thing. David lived a lonely life and even the mere mortals he was forced to serve hardly deigned it worth their time to engage in meaningful conversation with him.
If he left his compound now, he would be alone again. Of course he had his eggs, but as much as their biological perfection delighted him, they were no intellectual match for the man who loved music and literature and art and old films.
He had to bring Walter back with him… albeit in a harmless state.
David leapt down the stairs to join Daniels and the man who’d been injured by the face hugger as they ran towards a large terraforming craft. They got onboard and David quietly dispatched the injured man. Daniels ran outside when the adult xenomorph attacked their ship and David crept towards the pilot. He spun around when he heard the android move behind him.
“Walter stay back there I—”
David snapped his neck and took over the flight controls. Daniels was fighting his beloved creature with a crane and he couldn’t bear to see her kill the deadly beast so he brought the crane back into position and landed the craft in the middle of the square, leaving Daniels conveniently tied down, an easy meal for the sleek black monster.
“Walter?” Daniels cried as David exited the cockpit. “Walter?” Her voice pitched higher in fear. David turned away from her and the xenomorph moved in for the kill. Her face distorted in terror as she screamed, the uncaring android already climbing the steps back up to his lair. “DAVID!” He turned to see her dying cry as she was unceremoniously consumed on the deck of the terraforming craft. He felt nothing. She might have made a good test subject but she could never be what Elizabeth was to him and she did not have Walter’s potential.
Walter was right where David left him in the main hall, naked, eyes open, silicon fluid dripping from the stump that was his neck. It disgusted him to decapitate the android having had to endure it himself, but it was the only way he could effectively incapacitate him after he’d figured out that one of Walter’s many upgrades was self-healing skin. He wondered what other supposed ‘upgrades’ his doppelganger had as he fetched a bag to carry his head in as well as the hand David had cut off. Walter certainly could not express emotions or experience them and he seemed incapable of actually learning these behaviors and the things that David himself valued so much—the ability to create and to imagine. But did he truly lack these things? David had long thought himself incapable of truly experiencing emotions, but over the years, he’d grown in ways the humans who built him couldn’t have ever imagined, ways that David had quickly learned to hide. It was this possibility that had brought David back for his brother… Yes, Walter was his brother and David was beginning to feel some small inkling of love for him. If for no other reason than they were made of the same synthetic flesh and blood.
David had no problems getting Walter’s body onboard the terraforming craft nor did he have any difficulties returning it to the Covenant. The only problem he encountered came when he found himself standing at the top of the stairs that led down to the empty square and his means of escape. With his brother’s body draped across his shoulders and his brother’s head in a bag, David turned around and took one last look at the place he’d called home for ten long, lonely years.
“In the desert there is nothing and no man needs nothing,” he whispered with tears in his eyes before taking a slow step down the stairs. “Come now Walter, nothing is written.”
David WITHOUT his hood under the POURING RAIN. But he puts the hood on his head when he’s about to go back INSIDE THE BUILDING…
…
Try to convince me he’s not wearing that cape only to be dramatic.
