I just like this picture and wanted to post it. Me and my fellow #Syracuse grad Susan Koeppen.
I began trying this, and I’m really into it right now. I hope this can help other people who are looking to de-stress and improve their lives!
Please join us for “Your Pittsburgh” this Monday (1/25) at 7:30pm on #KDKA
Yes, there actually is a Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness School. And Yes, I attended.
I’m happy to report that Angelo Giorno continues to do well after his transplant surgery to get a new intestine. I had a chance to meet him at Children’s Hospital, and he is a bundle of energy! He has a field trip of sorts planned for today.
4 year-old Angelo’s story is so touching. While it’s heartbreaking for a family in Nebraska, it shows how important organ donation is. Two families here in our area are incredibly grateful. Here’s one way you can get involved to help Angelo’s family: http://cotaforangelog.com

This is one those topics you never really want to think about, but with the help of the Allegheny County Airport Authority Fire Rescue Department, we learned some valuable information putting this together. The simulator is fiercely hot. In fact, we melted a GoPro camera during this shoot
ICYMI: This is one of the best assignments I’ve had all year. Here’s a look back at the hoopla surrounding David Letterman’s last show. #ThanksDave (BTW, KDKA Photographer @ismithkdka is such a pro!)
A new way to get around town is hard to miss. The bright green Autopods are grabbing people’s attention, and three CMU grads hope people will want to ride in them, too!
Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Shade at Allegheny General Hospital and the folks at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, for helping us out with this story.
Also, thank you to KDKA Photographer Ian Smith, his wife Kathy, and their daughters Sydney and Samantha for allowing us to conduct what turned out to be a very revealing experiment.
I hope parents are able to check this story out.
Luke Blanock is dealing with something that’s difficult for people of any age. Yet, this 18 yer-old has a positive attitude that’s inspiring.
He told me how he wants to thank the community for all the support they’re giving him. His dad told me how proud he is of him.
I’ll tell you how glad I am that we were able to tell Luke’s story. He’s a class act.
A local woman has come up with a clever idea to make a point, and it’s getting quite a bit of attention. 76 < 100 is the name of her store in Garfield, and she purposely discriminates against men. She has two sets of prices, one for men and one for women. Women get a discount. Men pay full price. She wants to draw attention to the wage gap and plans on taking her idea on the road to other cities.
I’m really touched by the story of Rebecca Bratspies and Allen Schulz. He was visiting Pittsburgh without Bratspies when he went into cardiac arrest walking back from dinner in Shadyside.
It happened in an alley. The people with him didn't know CPR. But somehow two young men happened by, perhaps students, and they saved his life.
Now, more than a year later, Bratspies and Schulz want to find those strangers to say thanks. An article Rebecca wrote wound up in the Huffington Post, and she hopes somehow those life savers will see the media coverage.
Schulz has endured a long a difficult road after the attack and still has a ways to go. He was in coma for weeks, and afterwards, was unable to see initially. However, doctors say his progress is incredible.. better than anticipated. And after interviewing both Schulz and Bratspies, it’s clear to me that the love they have for each other is one of the reasons for his amazing recovery.
Just wanted to share a picture of my dad. He’s an incredible person, and he continues to be my role model. It’s a true gift in my life that he’s my dad.
Congratulations to Matthew Noszka! A picture on Instagram has changed his life.
He was a Point Park University basketball player who did construction jobs in the summer, and now he’s a big-time model.
You’re making Scott Township proud, Matthew!
If we all danced like 7 year-old Jack Weaver of Butler County does, the world would be a happier place.
You can see how much he enjoys it, and since he caught people's attention at Sunday night's Penguins' game, his dancing is making other people smile, too!
He was nice enough to try to show me some moves and polite enough to not tell me how bad I really was.
Fun story when so much of the other news of the world can be dark and scary.
I hope when I'm 74 that I have the spunk Charlie Burton does.
He's the type of guy who laughs and makes jokes. He's the type of guy who always has a project and things that intrigue him. And apparently, he's the type of guy who doesn't mind getting involved.
When he saw a mall security officer was having a rough time catching an alleged thief, Burton stepped in. He says he didn't think about the chance he could be hurt.. he just knew he wanted to help. So he did.
