Old Avatar Discourse
Zutara/Kataang ship war
“Aang should have killed Ozai”
hating on LoK
New Avatar Discourse
“Who’s scarier: Appa or Momo? Follow up question: which one of them would/could kill you?
Shipping wars are out, Zukka Nation is in.
What the fuck was going on in Omashu? What even was the political system? Why was there a king of a city? Is Bumi a legitimate monarch in the slightest? The Earth Kingdom already had a king so wtf was Omashu doing???
one of my favorite things to notice in atla is the subtle way benders use techniques from other elements, especially with zuko.
after zuko’s first encounter with aang & watching him airbend, he uses an airbender-like move to take down zhou
and later on, he firebends in a way that looks exactly like a move katara does with water
toph is the best character ever bc she’s this tiny disabled girl with a highly impressive level of emotional maturity who is a genius in her field and a war hero on the side and her hobbies include eating dirt and committing gruesome murders
do u think that mai knew where she ever really stood w/ ty lee before the incident at the boiling rock… or did she always assume, out of bitterness perhaps, out of cynicism, or envy, that she would always be second-best to azula, that no matter how much ty lee loved her, she would always prioritize azula. and her face of utter shock when she realizes that that’s not the case, that it never was….
in that moment, ty lee is choosing mai. neither azula nor mai remotely anticipated that. they’re both utterly flabbergasted by this turn of events. ty lee always keeps her cards close to her chest—so close, in fact, that people don’t even assume she’s hiding anything at all. but this moment is so revealing. it’s a brazen declaration of love.
Sokka and Zuko planning to jailbreak the most secure prison in the world with no plan:
me, showing up to the pta meeting to flex on ozai with my lemon squares: have you met my new son?
ozai, seeing prince zuko behind me: you bitch.
just realized this is what iroh did for real
aang: past avatars please give me your wisdom to solve this problem without violence
kyoshi: lmao loser doesnt want to kill anyone
aang:
aang: hey can i talk to someone else
kuruk: suck it up and do it
aang:
I get that being frozen for 100 years is a tough thing to go through but honestly Aang should have used it for comedy more
Katara: wow so this is Omashu
Aang: back in my day it was called weed city
Sokka: I’m… pretty sure it wasn’t
Aang: that’s what the fire nation wants you to think
Bumi, the second they arrive: welcome to weed city
Sokka: what the fuck
hey not to be emotional on main but the fact that iroh was a great military general and diplomat and in line to the throne of the fire nation but instead just wanted to brew tea and teach his nephew philosophy is so GOOD, and its something we almost NEVER see on tv. we always expect characters to “live up to their full potential” and in iroh’s case the obvious manifestation of that would have been to lead an army but instead he shows how the most IMPORTANT things to him are the smaller things in life. tea. pai sho. philosophy. iroh is the perfect example of how the best way forward for a person is very rarely the path to obvious glory and i love him for it
can waterbenders bend oil can earthbenders bend glass can airbenders bend sound can firebenders bend mixtapes
Yes, waterbenders can bend any water based material, as shown when Katara bends ink (Book 3, Chapter 16, “The Southern Raiders”) and soup (Book 3, Chapter 8, “The Runaway”). so as long as the oil is water based (baby oil, cooking oil, etc) then yes. If you’re talking about oil like for a car, then no, they can’t, because it isn’t water based.
Glass is made of sand and earthbenders can bend sand (Book 2, Chapter 10, “The Library”) and furthermore earthbenders can bend the earth particles in metal (Book 2, Chapter 19, “The Guru”) so it stands to reason that they can bend the sand particles in glass. There is a question of whether or not they can still bend it because it is a very purified form of earth and another pure form of earth, platinum, is unbendable (LOK Book 1, Chapter 7, “The Aftermath”). However, when the sand is turned into glass it becomes crystalline (sand is mostly quartz particles after all) and we know earth benders can bend crystals (Book 1 Chapter 5 “The King of Omashu” when Bumi bends the creeping crystal).
Yes, airbenders can bend sound. This is shown when Aang bends sound by using his Appa whistle and extends the range of the sound (Book 2, Chapter 15, “Tales of Ba Sing Se”).
Firebenders can bend heat (Book 3, Chapter 6, “The Avatar and the Firelord”) which leads me to believe that they can not only bend fire mixtapes but can also control how fire a mixtape is by making it hotter.
Damn, pohlarbearpants did the research
figuring how i want to draw the queeeen
i like this one a bit more
I really loved this moment.
there are worse places he could have picked to fight a water bender but the list isn’t very long
