sooooo, i watched the second spiderman movie two days ago (the one with toby maguire) and enjoyed it so much, i think its gonna start a new obsession for me (speaking of obsession, still wanna watch that one, but topic for another time) :D!
i just finished the third one today, and hoooo boy, theres so many things to appreciate, in both movies, so i'll yap a bit
i haven't watched the first part yet, because we don't have it at home, and my local library doesn't have it either - i'm not one for streaming services either, so that will just have to wait...
i have watched "no way home" and "into the spiderverse" though
none of this is qualified in anyway, it's not even an attempt at a movie review, like i did with "Breakfast Club", just some fangirling and appreciating
now that we've got that out of the wayyyy:
i'm positively surprised i've enjoyed these movies at all! not to be mean, but i've always thought of marvel and dc movies as pretty low quality stuff, not worthy of being watched, but thats possibly only the case for the newer movies, that in my (uneducated) opinion seem soooo unnecessary
i think he's the perfect fit for the role! the way he acts is lovely, and he portrays Peter Parker as that kind of cringey guy, that he just is sometimes (talking about that scene before the city-hero-thingy, where he pretends to march along and is feeling himself way too much), but on the other hand is an amazing fit for spiderman!
This is something i noticed, especially comparing Spiderman 2 to the newer No Way Home - at least when talking about Otto Octavius' tentacle-arms:
For Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Doctor Octopus' mechanical tentacles were created through CGI instead of puppetry. According to Tom Holland, Molina had to subsequently "relearn" how to act using them.[18]

I'm just a huge fan of practical effects, they make the immersion in the movie so much easier! just compare fight scenes from those two movies: in my opinion, those in Spiderman 2 look MUCH more natural
enough topic for a whole essay on it's own, if you ask me, but i'll keep myself short(er), since i've still got stuff to do
as a quick reminder, the villains that appear in those two movies are: Doc Ock (Otto Octavius), The New Green Goblin (Harry Osborn), The Sandman(Flint Marko) and Venom(Eddie Brock)
There are multiple reasons, why i love the villains/antagonists in these movies:
They are all so unique in their motivations! Octavius is corrupted by his own invention and despaired because of the death of his wife, Harry is influenced/pressured by his father, into becoming like him and to avenge him through revenge, Flint Marko was pushed into being a villainous creature and wants to be there for his daughter, and Eddie is corrupted by that substance, but accepts it because Peter treated him like shit (rightfully so, Eddie ain't the nicest either), which leads me to another point...
The fact that Peter is corrupted first by that alien substance shows, that superheroes aren't perfect, and just exaggerates that confidence and high self esteem he got because of the whole "NYC-hero thing"
because the villains are so unique, that led to me as the viewer to always be entertained by them, because i always also rooted for them in a way, because i could understand their motivations - even if they were morally wrong
this for me showed especially in Otto Octavius and Harry Osborn:
Otto Octavius: what i love about him, is that his evil isn't born from a singular source, and his whole story: he wants to invent something that will help the whole world, but during an accident while showing his invention of, his wife gets killed by an explosion. the psychic vulnerability left behind by her death probably made him even more susceptible to the effect of the tentacles, through which he got sent into this mad obsession of trying to repair his invention and somehow keep helping people, even though to get there, he's willing to kill
Harry Osborn: him hitting his head during his first attack shows how he could have been if he didn't resent Peter for supposedly killing his father, which makes my heart ache so much. the scene in which the two of them play basketball in Harry's house/apartment brought me so much joy! and him in the end deciding to fight alongside Peter shows both his love for MJ and for Peter, because he finally understood that Peter wasn't at fault for his fathers death
alright, i believe i've said everything for now...
so yeah, i think i'm going to watch/read every piece of spiderman-media i can find, continuing with "across the spiderverse", which i will soon watch with @deadthingalive! very excited for that :D
