10 myths about freshman year of college!!!

1. The “FAR- FETCHED” freshman 15!

-It is a lie! Don’t fret! Although you may survive on noodles and binge junk food, you most likely won't gain 15 pounds! 

2. You meet your best friends.

- Not saying it’s impossible but it’s highly unlikely. And don't rush it, you still have three more years of schooling to go! Throughout your matriculation, people will come and go but you’ll know when you meet the ones.

3. Freshman year is your most important year. 

-If your GPA is low freshman year you won't be able to bring it up. LIEEEEEE! This is the biggest lie! It’s never too late to recover your grades. Yes, Freshman year is your foundation for the remaining years but don't let a low GPA discourage you. I had a 2.7 my first semester of college. I finished my freshman year with a 3.3! It's possible!

4. You won't get any sleep. 

-I can't speak for everyone but I got my 8 hours of sleep! *insert shrug emoji* If anything I got more sleep.

5. You’ll be stressed to the max! 

-Yes, there will be pressure but it won't be anything you haven't encountered or anything you can't get past. Because you are amazing and each mishap is a lesson learned. Don't let anything stop or deter you.

6. College is super frickin hard and the teachers are the most strict people you'll ever meet. 

-Lie! College is what you make it and it's honestly not bad. Many of our high school teachers told us that college professors would be these mean old hags that don't allow anything but they’re laidback. I've learned that college professors are weird.

7. You and your roomies will be besties for the resties!

- *insert smiling emoji* s/n I'm on my laptop so... but this is another myth. A small percentage of you all will actually become best friends, most of you will be cordial and some of you will be strangers. A few of you will cycle through roommates, myself included. My freshman year I had two roommates. If I had the opportunity I probably would've opted for a third one. My first roommate and I weren’t friends but there weren't any problems. It was simply uncomfortable because we didn't have anything in common so we didn't talk. So she put in a room change request and I did too, not knowing that she had put in hers. So both of us ended up being moved to leave room 327 empty. My second roommate was a little better but also slightly worse. We had things in common and talked more than my first roommate but we weren't friends. However it wasn't awkward in the room. But she stayed up till 7 every moring on the phone and she was a pig. A literal pig. Her friends would come in and say” how do you live like this” then turn to me and say” I'm sorry she out you through this, idk how you do it.”

8. All you do is party, Party, PARTY!

- I only went to one party my freshman year and it was school-sponsored. There will be parties but not as many as you think and trust me they’ re nothing like the movies.

9. You’re loaded with homework and won't have any fun. 

-This one really depends on your major and teachers. I’m a mass media arts major with a concentration on PR(public relations) so I don't have much homework. My assignments are usually hands-on projects and we have guest speakers. As I stated earlier it also depends on your teachers. Some teachers don't like giving homework because it’s not their forte or due to the fact that they have thousands of students...that's a lot of work to grade. Some teachers simply dont care and will just lecture you.

10. You have all the freedom in the world! 

-No matter how much freedom you have or think you have on campus, reality hits when you go back home. Ughhh the rules are still enforced.
