I'm reading my The Little Book of Spiders and saw a part about some spider courtship that looked like a perfect science shitpost.

Evidently, some male spiders will give false gifts so they can smash and then dip before the female realizes she has been duped. I'm starting to understand why a lot of female spiders eat them now. I'd be pissed too if I was expecting to be gifted food wrapped in webbing to be eaten later before copulation, only to then have been bamboozled after putting out.

I saw someone deadass demand an AO3 author to "post evidence" by recording a timescale or showing "real edit dates". Like how artists show their process of painting.

What are we COLLECTIVELY smoking? This is insane.

yeah this is just dystopian. fanfic writers don’t owe anyone anything. artists don’t owe anyone anything (unless they want to share the process themself). especially when you (general you) are privileged enough to get FREE contents to read and consume. if you don’t like it, if you suspect it’s ai-generated and if it bothers you, quietly leave.

this “witch hunting and demanding xyz from someone whose writing/creation you get to consume for free” is not only entitled and toxic but also damaging to the community you’re claiming to protect.

I don’t think these people actually care about the harm ai can cause. they only care about the possibility of themself accidentally reading an ai-generated fic and no longer being “morally pure”. it’s like the satanic panic from the 80s but make it modern.

I agree with allthingswhumpyandangsty. While I detest AI being in creative spaces, I rather people who generate AI fanfics to be comfortable enough to be honest and tag appropriately on fics that are AI. This witch-hunting on anti-censorship platforms like AO3 is only going to cause people who use AI to hide the fact that they are using it. Not to mention, at least personally, if it turned out one of the fics I read and enjoyed, prior to knowing, was AI generated, then it is what it is. I rather personally feel a little cheated than promote censorship. But most likely I would never truely know because AI is trained from actual human writing styles. Especially as AI get better at being indistinguishable from human works, I have come to accept that this is just going to be a part of life going forward, unfortunately. Cause I don't see AI going anywhere; for better or for worse. The genie bottle has been opened, in a sense, and cannot be put back in since it's been entrenched into so many different applications now.

Been on a Godzilla binge lately. Was watching some Showa Godzilla clips. Then stumbled upon one where Godzilla and Anguirus have some dialog. And it just made think they were a couple of grumpy old dudes being nosey about what is going on 'with all that ruckus outside' and had to draw it.
