I’ve been questioning sexuality and gender since about age 12 (i’m 19 now) and as much as i’ve struggled, i appreciate my journey
i currently kind of just call myself unlabeled, “kinda nonbinary” and “sorta ace” “bi i guess”
but if you really sat down to ask me, here’s what i’d tell you:
i think i am nonbinary, but to me, gender doesn’t feel like much of anything whatsoever. but nonbinary currently feels more comfortable than agender. i am very comfortable with she/her pronouns, but i want to try using more gender-neutral terms and pronouns for myself. i’ve never truly felt like a woman, but i am extremely connected to womanhood and will always take pride in that. despite being connected to womanhood, demigirl just feels to gendered for my liking. librafeminine is my preferred identity if you TRULY asked
i also LOVELOVELOVE the gender galactic system. i would totally use the lunarian label too!!!
sexuality wise, i’m very connected to asexuality (i’ve identified as it since i was about 12). i believe i am still on the spectrum, probably grey or demisexual. romantic orientation wise, i believe im not aromantic as i once identified. i believe i am bisexual (bi+ace). i also have always ADORED the term “uranic” to describe me, but i have rarely had some attraction to women, so i don’t use it.
i don’t use xenogenders at all but just know i have a secret pinterest boards of identities i like lol it’s so cool

𓃦 Kita - My king. I'm going to be totally bias and say yes. Because I can. And I want to. Here's my idea: So, I'm not the biggest fan of opposites attract, therefore, Kita will also have similar values to his partner. He's level-headed, and I don't think he'd ever stand for judging others whatsoever. He also doesn't seem materialistic, and would enjoy thrifting/yardsale-ing, etc, anything second hand. I just think this guy is neat. He would enjoy learning about niche interests and such, and I think that you could probably get him interested in collecting vinyls. Like, old-timey vinyls. Just for background music. Kita also likes learning. People probably think he's more self-righteous, but I think that he's interested in learning about every experience around him just so he can be educated. Another thing, (a bit unrelated), I think he would be interested in learning about your spirituality/religion (especially about Paganism, Animism, or witchcraft). He found it admirable when his grandma talked to him, so I think he'd appreciate your outlook on it too. Off topic, but I also headcanon him to be Athiest and/or Animeist/Animist (not sure of the correct spelling, someone who believes in Animism).
𓃦 Omimi - Yes, specifically goths. He looks like he loves Robert Smith and Bauhaus. I think he'd want a partner that listens to them too. I think he'd also like collecting vinyls & cds, but probably listens to vinyls more. Fashion wise, I think he really likes to wear all black, and he enjoys a good jacket or pair of leather boots. I think he'd like a partner that dresses gothic as well, especially if they dress more 80's goth and look a bit androgynous. I wanna preface this by saying that he ultimately would not care what you looked like or how you presented. I think he'd enjoy a more retro goth makeup look. Again, something a smidge more androgynous, but maybe more natural than what modern trad goth looks like. He appreciates how people did their makeup and fashion back then, and probably loves learning about the history behind it.
𓃦 Aran - If I said no would you guys be mad at me... I could see him liking someone more basic. I think he'd want someone with a similar positive outlook on life as him, which is why I don't think he'd look for an alternative partner. Not saying that alt people can't be positive, I just think he'd find it all gloomy.
𓃦 Ginjima - Yeah, sort of. I think he'd love the Tumblr girl aesthetic, and anything similar. Probably also fashion subcultures similar to Jirai Kei. Music wise, he'd be an alternative rock lover. He'd probably like Arctic Monkeys and Cage the Elephant. Not niche, but still good. I think he'd also like collecting vinyls. He'd want someone with a similar music taste and a similar look. I also like his hair, I think it'd go good with an all black outfit.
𓃦 Atsumu - I can't tell if I hate or love this guy. He'd either make fun of alt people or he'd be weirdly chill with it. I think he'd enjoy some fashion aspects of it, but something more conventionally attractive (think of like 2020's borderline e-girl outfits). I can't really see him listening to alternative music much, so I don't think he'd be into it. The only headcanon for his music taste I can give him is Sublime. That's it. BUTTTTTT, we need to remember that he has bleached hair. He's got some spunk to him, so maybe he'd like someone to reflect that confidence.
𓃦 Suna - Yeah. But like, not really. Unfortunately, 2021 Haikyuu fandom has permanently altered my brain when it comes to Suna. So do I think he'd listen to Arctic Monkeys, Cigarettes After Sex, and The Neighborhood, and Chase Atlantic.... Yeah. Not my fault that Stoner Suna was ingrained into all of Tumblr and TikTok. He'd like alt people in a similar way that Atsumu does. Something mixed between e-girl, soft grunge, and Tumblr girl. Something more mainstream, but not the norm. Sorry Suna for what the fandom has done to you.
𓃦 Osamu - Yeah. I don't know how to explain this one, I just get a vibe. I can't just use the Tumblr girl/soft grunge excuse again, but I really want to... I REALLY want to... I think.... I'm going to..... He just doesn't seem to care deeply about much in general. He has his interests and he'll stick to that. But also, as the movie Juno puts it: "Jocks like him always want freaky girls. Girls with horn-rimmed glasses and vegan footwear and Goth makeup. Girls who play the cello and wear Converse All-Stars and want to be children's librarians when they grow up. Oh yeah, jocks eat that shit up." I think seeing his brother's annoying fangirls probably gave him this mindset.
𓃦 Kosaku - I have no clue who this guy is I'm so sorry. He's got a cool character design so I'm going to say yes. Let me make something up for any Kosaku fans out there: He probably likes people more into the punk scene. Someone with a strong will and strong since a justice. If you're willing to speak up about something, he finds it very admirable. He'd like someone with a good head on their shoulders, and probably wouldn't like someone who overconsumes. If you're into DIY, he'd really enjoy that too. He's the type of guy to make his own spiked bracelets and accessories. I think he'd be into bands like Bikini Kill, Sex Pistols, and Fugazi.
𓃦 Riseki - No. Here's what would happen: He looks for a (lack of better term) "weird-girl" partner, get's with this person, and ruins their whimsy. He's said to be a bit of a pessimist, and I think he'd make that everyone's problem. You'd dress up and he'd be like "are you sure no one's going to make fun of you?" "are you sure you want to wear that?". He'd basically manic-pixie-dream-girl you. And in the very wise and sadly truthful words of Miss Lisa Swallows: "You like cool movies and music and stuff, but only for you! You want to be the smart one who likes cool stuff, and you don't want your girlfriend to like cool stuff. Do you know how uncool that is?"
𓃦 Akagi - No. I think he's more of a basic guy (no hate, Akagi). He'd be more into someone that matched his personality and interests, and I just don't see him being very into the alterantive scene or values. Sorry to the two Akagi fans out there.

Sebastian sighed, putting his phone down on the concrete. It was cold and dark out, about 10pm. The streets were completely silent, leaving him with nothing but his thoughts. He had texted his ex, Minerva, something he had sworn to never do. They didn't like each other much, but this was different. He needed her right now, more than anyone. Not for sex, not for reigniting a previous romance, but for something she was good at giving: advice.
As he sat on the curb, he stared up at the stars, each one illuminating with different brightnesses. Orion, he though to himself, recognizing the three stars in a studded row. Kyle always pointed that out to him, like all the other constellations, but this was the only one he would remember.
Val pointed it out to him too. They'd talk about how pretty the skies were, and even told Sebastian about how she'd look up to them in dire times as a teen.
A rattle against the concrete broke him out of his trance, and as he looked at the contact, "ignore this number", he knew it was her. He opened his messages...
ignore this number: why are you texting me
sebastian: i need your help
ignore this number: you need a lot more than my help
Sebastian let out a loud sigh to himself.
sebastian: this is serious, can you just meet me outside of the cemetary?
ignore this number: fine, but i'm not hooking up with you if that's what you were planning
sebastian: no, just get over here
Sebastian sat by himself for about ten minutes, bouncing his leg against the concrete beneath him. He listened keenly to the sounds of frogs croaking, trying to distract himself from how he was feeling.
Soon, the headlights of a car came up. Sebastian got a strange, sick feeling in his stomach suddenly. Something felt wrong. Something felt risky.
The car parked on the other side of the road, and out came Minerva. Glasses on, septum crooked, twists tied up in a bun. She was also wearing mismatched pajamas. This wasn't Minerva right now, this was Nikki.
Minerva walked across the road, car keys jingling in her pocket, "What's wrong?" She kept her voice, naturally raspy and cool, flat. She couldn't deny that she was nervous. She wasn't fond of her ex, but something about the situation made her worry that there was an emergency.
Sebastian sighed, lowering his head. His curls fell over his face, hiding him from his ex, "I need your advice on something."
Minerva sat down next to him, "Wow, you actually wanna listen to me now? Didn't think you respected women that much."
Sebastian gave her a slightly-irritated-slightly-defeated look, "No, I just need your thoughts on something. As a friend—"
"Oh! I'm your friend now! Thought you never wanted to see my face ever again? What's up with that?"
Sebastian raised his voice, "No! Can you just let me finish!"
"No, Sebastian! You let me finish! You were either always talking over me, or not talking to me at all! If you're gonna be a fucking bitch, then I'll treat you like it!"
Minerva huffed and looked away from him, "Whatever problem you need advice for, is probably your fucking fault anyways..."
Sebastian opened his mouth to argue back, but Minerva's statement took the words right out of him. It hurt. Feeling plagued by his own actions hurt.
"Nicole," Sebastian began after a second, speaking quietly in defeat, "Please... I'm not asking for forgiveness. I need your help."
A few moments passed, "Bitch..." Minerva mumbled, "What is it?"
"I have feelings for someone."
Minerva's head snapped up, facing forward with an annoyed look. She slowly blinked, calming herself before she yelled at Sebastian more.
"Sebastian, I want to say things to you. Maybe about how you made me, your ex, drive out here on a Thursday night, just to ask her for wingman advice—"
"I'm sorry, Nicole."
Sebastian's tone surprised Minerva a bit. She looked over at him for a second, catching a glimpse of his sorrowful face. He wasn't even looking at her, he was looking down at the ground. He practically hid himself in his curls, shame oozing from his eyes.
Minerva's expression melted into a confused sympathy.
"It's been a while. Since we broke up," she began.
"Four years," He finished.
Minerva rested her head against her own arm, trying to catch a glimpse of Sebastian's eyes, "What's new?"
"I, uhm, started therapy. Well, I've been in it for about a year actually.. Val kinda was the reason."
"You like Val?"
"Well..." He sighed, "Yeah.. I guess."
Minerva chuckled, "They're pretty. Tell me the story, how did they convince you to go to therapy?"
"We fought. Uhm, I said something really, really mean... I'm not proud of it," he sighed with defeat, "but it was admits a pretty strong screaming match."
Sebastian shifted uncomfortably, "I actually said some pretty shitty stuff to everyone that night. Everyone in the band... Val basically stood up for everybody. Called me a cunt, then we kinda got into it. She put up a pretty good match, but I just said something bad."
Sebastian put his head down and groaned, shaking his head, "I'm not repeating it. But I just remember the look on everyone's faces. Everyone else was crying, and stressed... And I looked back at Val. I thought they were gonna yell back at me, but I watched their eyes begin to water. It was... hard. I recognized that look. Wanting to be strong, maintaining intense eye contact through it all, but your eyes water like crazy, and your lips quiver into an ugly frown... It reminded me—"
"Like you with your dad," Minerva said softly.
"Uhm, yeah. When he'd get mad at me, or at mom."
Sebastian shook his head, trying to rid his mind of the image of the scene, "Never mind that. That moment just... broke me. That night, I knew I was turning into my dad. I've seen everyone be emotional before, but Val was different. She didn't get like that, ever."
He sighed, "After that, I talked to the school counselor. Got a referral. Started therapy. It's been... helpful. Even more helpful that Dad's gone too."
Minerva cocked her head, "They finally divorced?"
"Nah, he died."
Minerva let out an inappropriate laugh, "Oh! I mean, Mother Nature works in mysterious ways. Sorry for your loss though."
Sebastian smirked a bit, "Yeah, it's whatever. Mom's doing better too now that he's gone. It's actually quite nice. But like, I still kind of miss him. Because he was my dad."
Minerva nodded, "I can understand that."
The two sat in quiet again for a moment.
Minerva spoke up, "So, your crush on Val?"
"Oh yeah... Uhm, it exists. I don't know. She just... I feel protective of her in some way. I think that she thinks nobody cares about her wellbeing, but I always keep at eye on her."
"Doesn't she have a boyfriend?"
"Yeah. And don't worry, I don't trying to flirt with her or anything. I just... Sometimes I wish..." He sighed and shook his head, "I appreciate our friendship. And I'm grateful for it no matter what. She teaches me a lot I think."
Minerva nodded, maintaining eye contact, "As long as you don't cross boundaries... Guess you get start making shoegaze music now, as a yearning young man."
"To me, he's just like. Ugh, I don't know. I just feel... He just... Look I don't know why I find him attractive, I just do. We're opposites. His annoying positivity just... soothes me, ya know? I'm not sure he feels the same way though."
"I guess that makes sense. Feelings are hard. Do you even think you're ready for a relationship though?"
Sebastian sighed again, "No... Probably not.. But, I don't think I ever will be. So maybe."
"Well," Minerva began, "That's even if they want you. Val's taken and Kyle doesn't even like you back. You are quite literally bi-yourself!"
"Nikki."
"Sorry, but it's true."
"I could have a chance with Kyle. Don't you think? And Val, if her and her man broke up. But he's good to her, they're gonna be together until they die probably..."
With a loud groan, Sebastian flopped back on the lawn behind him, "Dude, fuck thiiiissss...."
Minerva joined him in the grass, "Wait, so does this mean you're like, polyamorous?"
"No!" Sebastian replied defensively.
"Woah, hey, nothing wrong with that," Minerva responded, "I was just like, curious. If you could, would you date both of them at the same time?"
"No, definitely not."
"Okay."
"I'd be like... jealous. Or awkward. Or selfish. Kyle's gay, and Val would never have feelings for Kyle. A throuple would never work between us."
Sebastian sat up, "God, Minerva, the fuck are we talking about?"
Minerva laughed and Sebastian laid back down, "This has been awesome, actually. You know, I think your feelings will go away on their own. Both of these people have helped you greatly to become who are you today. Just, breathe. Take it all in. Love is more than just romance and sex, Sebastian. It's platonic too. Love your fucking friends! Learn from them too. Just live, Sebastian."
Crossing his arms under his head, he stared back up at Orion's belt. Just live. Breathe. Love your fucking friends.
"Wanna go back to my place? I have a nice bottle of wine I need to finish up."
"That sounds good right now." Sebastian turned his head to look Minerva in her eyes, "Thanks, Nicole."
She smiled back at him, "You're welcome. Hey! If you wanted, I could set you up with someone?"
"Um, no thanks. Dating someone is a bridge I'll cross some other day. I just want to... slow down a bit right now."
Minerva stood up and held a hand out to Sebastian, "Sounds like a good idea, man."

𓃠 Kuroo — Yes. I think that he'd really love fashion subcultures a lot. Kuroo seems like the type of guy to encourage your dreams (and impulsive thoughts), so if you ever need to be around an enabler, he's the guy. I think he'd also be into 90's grunge music. I think that his hair screams grunge, BUT HEAR ME OUT emo as well…. honestly I could see him liking some emo bands. He’d LOOVVVEEE Paramore. Lastly, I think he’d be a post-punk or goth rock guy. Alien Sex Fiend, The Cure, and probably Echo and the Bunnymen. Makes sense to me🤷♀️
𓃠 Kai - Yes, especially if you're a part of the twee, indie, or downtown girl style. I'm not too into these subcultures, but I think he'd be into indie (indie-pop) music and music from the 60's & 80's. I think he enjoys music that feels peaceful. He'd probably listen The Beatles, The Smiths, Morrissey, and She&Him. Now that I'm writing this out, I think he'd love a twee partner. Someone whose style and music taste reflects a peaceful mindset.
𓃠 Yaku - Yes and I will die on this hill... He would probably lean more towards those who are grunge, riot grrrl, metalheads, or nu-metal enjoyers. My personal headcanon is that he enjoys bands like Nirvana (he'd enjoy the MTV unplugged album), The Clash, The Cramps, Ween, and the Smashing Pumpkins. He would enjoy collecting vinyls and going to local shows. He likes people who dress cool and unique, especially if it's second-hand.
𓃠 Yamamoto - I don't think he'd have a preference, as long as you're hot. I don't think he'd be too into music subgenres, but I think he'd enjoy Limp Bizkit. Probably would look for someone who enjoys rocking out and being energetic, but he's also into softer, more basic people. Fashion wise, he'd enjoy someone who has a more athletic look. Crop tops/baby tees, baggy pants, cool sneakers.
𓃠 Kenma - Yeah. He would feel safe around someone weird like him. Someone who doesn't care about appearance, someone who had fun interests like him (bonus points if you're into gaming), someone who is authentically themselves. He'd admire your confidence and probably find it very admirable. I don't think he's very into music at all... He would probably listen to video game music if he had to choose, however, he'd let you play whatever music you wanted in the background and he'd probably enjoy it too, especially if it's quieter music. If you enjoyed vocaloid music, he'd probably be enthused lol. He doesn't care about fashion style, like I stated earlier, he would love however you dressed.
𓃠 Fukunaga - Yes. There's definitely something wrong with him, but I'm not sure what. I think he'd love someone who has weird interests: ethical taxidermy, entomology, bone collecting, antiquing, etc. Something that's like... weird but super duper cool. He'd love people with weird fashion, especially more vintage styles! Music wise, I think he'd be into The Cure, New Order, and Gary Neuman. Music that's funky but relaxing.
𓃠 Inuoka - Not really. I think he'd like someone more basic. He isn't very into music subculture, nor is he into fashion that much. He also wouldn't have any special interests. I think he'd just enjoy someone as simple as he is (which is not a bad thing).
𓃠 Teshiro - Yes. I think he'd be more into the aesthetics than the music. I think he'd be into more simple cyber street styles (think studded belts, sunglasses, puffy jackets, baggy pants), and would probably want a stylist partner to match him. He would enjoy doing fun, decorative hair dye patterns on his buzz cut, and he would 100% let you design it.
𓃠 Lev - Maybe.... He'd probably find an alternative person intimidating, but also very cool. But he'd also get along with someone basic more. His interests and music taste align with basic people more (which is fine), but deep down he'd love learning about your interests and music. He might not understand it, but he thinks it's neat.
𓃠 Shibayama - Yes. Probably more into the aesthetics of it than music, but that's okay. He likes more popular songs, typical alternative songs you'd find on TikTok. He'd probably be interested in styles that include fishnets and chunky platforms, probably leaning towards soft grunge or Tumblr girl aesthetics. Oh, here's another headcanon: he is a cinephile. He LOVES films and different movies, so if you enjoy moves as well, you'll get along. I think that he'd also like to collect cassette tapes. Reminds me of Young Neil from Scott Pilgrim (which he would love).

⁀➴༯ Daichi - He would be more traditional with Valentines. He gets you flowers, a box of chocolates, and finds you a few other gifts that pertain to your interests. He wouldn't make a huge announcement or celebration. Something quiet and simple, but meaningful. He'd probably spend the evening with you and cook for you.
⁀➴༯ Oikawa - He'd share chocolates that he got from his fangirls with you. I think he'd get you jewelry with his initials on it. It'd probably be gold and dainty. If there's volleyball practice the day of Valentines, he'd probably drag you along. Every so often, he'd stop by and check on you.
⁀➴༯ Kuroo - He's going to be so annoying about it. He'll get you the basics, flowers and chocolates, but he'll also write you sappy love letters. Like, extremely sappy. Like so sappy you think he's being satirical (he is). He'll make a big scene in front of his friends about you as well. In private though, he'll be a lot more caring to you. He'd order out for you guys and watch some movies with you.
⁀➴༯ Kita - He would get you a nice bracelet or anklet. Something you like, whatever style you want. He also would plan a weekend for you guys, planning to do things you want to do. He'd pay for a nice meal for you two, and if there was practice the day of Valentines, he'd get you a nice, small gift basket of goodies. If you stayed to watch practice, he'd check in on you.
⁀➴༯ Terushima - Like Oikawa, he'd get you a necklace with his name or initials. It would be gold, dainty, and written in cursive. That kind of jewelry specifically. He'd probably buy you some vending machine snacks, but that's about it. I am Terushima's number one hater, sorry guys
⁀➴༯ Ushijima - Very robotic and rehearsed. He would get you nice flowers and the best chocolates he can get his hands on. Tendo would help him pick out nice truffles for you. He would write a nice Valentines card for you, since he's not the best with his words. He would enjoy taking you out on a nice date, probably take you on a nice walk if the weather is nice.
⁀➴༯ Bokuto - He will be over the top. He's going to probably be extra sensitive, hoping everything goes great. He will get you a nice bouquet of flowers, and will hype you up all day long. I think he'd probably be very physical with you too, hugging you, holding your hand, just anything he can get away with in public. As an alternative person myself (I don't really fit into a specific subculture), I love thinking about how they'd react to an alternative partner

𓅨 Daichi — I feel like it wouldn't really be too supportive. I can't see him being a big fan of breaking rules or rebelling much (I mean he's a police man post time-skip so...). I think he'd try to guide you to not be alternative.

"I think your natural color looks best on you... Maybe keep it."
I also think alt music scenes would make him uncomfortable, and he probably would not be a fan of moshing or heavy music. I also don't think he'd be a fan of the fashion either.
𓅨 Sugawara — I feel like he'd be pretty supportive. I don't see him being very alternative himself, but I think he enjoys new experiences. He'd enjoy the energy of a good music show and would love to accompany you to piercing appointments. He'd also love helping you dye your hair. Oh, he also would encourage you to do EVERY impulsive idea you thought of. I don't see him as a huge music fan, but his music taste would probably be very open. He wants to try whatever you like.
𓅨 Asahi — Yes and he'd be super shy about it. I think he understands the feeling of people making assumptions about you based on your appearance. Honestly, I think he would enjoy gothic romance and literature... Goth Asahi is pretty awesomesauce in my opinion. He'd be FAR TOO scared to get any facial piercings, or watching you get any. He'd also love listening to vinyls with you.
𓅨 Nishinoya — Yes and no??? I think he'd either not entirely vibe with it or he'd be a "I need an emo girlfriend" guy. I'm leaning towards the first idea though... BUT he wouldn't dislike alternative people! He's very spunky and also has cool bleached hair. I just have a feeling that's about as far as it goes.
𓅨 Tanaka — No... Sorry guys. As much as I want to say he'd LOVE an alternative partner, I think his type is more basic. It's the same as Noya's reasoning: He likes hot people but looks is about as far as it goes. Unfortunately, I think he kind of wants to be the cool and tough one in the relationship. Does that make sense? To me, sort of.
𓅨 Ennoshita — Yes, but for more of an aesthetic appeal unfortunately. I think it may be canon that he's into alt women actually... I think he doesn't really understand the ethics behind it though. I'd say he'd like somebody that's about as into being alternative as he perceives it. Again, it probably makes no sense, but it makes sense to me lolz
𓅨 Kageyama — I don't think he'd have a preference. He'd probably get quiet and observant if you explained things to him or showed him music. I think that he'd really enjoy learning about the history about subcultures. He'd quickly understand that these things are as important to you as volleyball is for him. I also think some of the songs you showed him would end up on his workout playlist, especially punk or more hardcore/heavy songs.
𓅨 Hinata — Yes. He loves self-expression so much, and like Kageyama, he knows this is very important to you. He likes what's important to you. I think he'd really like fashion subcultures like Gyaru and Decora. You also could for sure put him on some scene music. He needs the energy to get him through practice. Something to match his vibe.
𓅨 Tsukishima — Yes and no. He doesn't really seem to concerned about what is important to those around him. But also, he probably is VERY into music. He'd probably try to act more musically superior to you, but that's just because he's an asshole. I feel like he may judge you if you get dressed up:
"Why are you dressed like that? We're going to the grocery store."
"Why not?"
"Seems like a waste of energy."
He's a total party pooper sometimes (most times). Not that he would ever say it out loud, but he loves super slow, sad songs. Music is how he'd communicate, so he'd be able to quietly bond over shared songs.
𓅨 Yamaguchi — Yes and I will die on this hill. I remember in 2021 everyone did the 'punk' Yamaguchi headcanon, except he was singing Arctic Monkeys or something lolz. Honestly, I think he'd love 'I Love You' by Fontaines D.C.
He was made fun of as a kid, so he'd never judge anyone's appearance or interests. I think he'd find it comforting how much justice matters to you. He'd feel safe around you, like you are the bravest person EVER. He'd probably develop more self-confidence because of you.
When the last bell rang, Aran flashed you a smile before he left the classroom, expecting your presence in the gymnasium. After gathering your bag, you stopped in the bathroom quickly. You double checked that your makeup was as you like it, also checking for subtle flaws you could fix. No food in your teeth… No, you didn’t randomly bleed through your pants… You don’t have random snot coming out of your nose either…
Double checking these things wouldn’t stop your brain from telling you that they happened, but it helps you cope with the thoughts. You left the bathroom and headed towards the most dreaded part of school, the gym.
Upon entering, you switched your shoes. Your heart thumped hard against your chest. If your ribs weren’t there, it probably would’ve thumped right out of you. The tightness in your chest made you a bit light headed. As you tied your shoes, a shadow loomed over you.
“Hey, y/n, you made it!”
You looked up and were met with Aran smiling at you. Standing up, you brushed your hands nervously against your pants. Aran led you into the gym, where you could see all the others standing together. Your heart raced faster than it had before, and you wanted nothing more than to curl up and die right there and then.
A few of the others turned to look your way. The whole damn team had crazy resting bitch face…
“Hey guys, this is y/n, they’re gonna be our new manager.”
You shot Aran a shocked look, causing him to spit a laugh out, “well, I hope so at least. No pressure, y/n. They’re just here to see how things work.”
‘Tsk,’ was all you heard in response. You look towards the source of the sound, Atsumu Miya.
You hated Atsumu. To you, he was just a dumb idiot. You were friends with someone in his class, and he wasn’t always kind to them. You hold a grudge against a guy who doesn’t even know you exist. Well, until now.
“They don’t seem very qualified.” He sneered.
Your brows furrowed, but your heart began to race again. It was always hard for you to stand up for yourself. You were good at being quiet, not good at being defensive. Many comeback ideas ran through your head, but before you could speak, a calm, monotone voice spoke out.
“Atsumu, were you never taught to respect your upper classmen?”
You recognized who he was. Short, white hair with black tips… That was Kita Shinsuke, Mr. Perfect. The only reason he turned down being class president was to dedicate his time to this volleyball club.
Your eyes met Kita’s. He smiled gently at you, but it certainly didn’t melt his cold demeanor. You looked back at Atsumu, who was giving you a dirty look. You narrowed your eyes at him in return.
“Nice to meet you,” Kita’s cooling voice drew you back to him. He bowed slightly. “I’ve seen you around before, but I’m not familiar with your name.”
Fake. I bet perfection is fake. This is starting to annoy me. A bit of distrust started to overcome you. I bet he’s analyzing me right now. He probably feels superior to me, doesn’t he? Just like Atsumu. I bet he’s sizing me up.
As you began to jump to conclusions, you remembered to respond, “Y/n.”
His smile faded into his resting, flat expression, “Thank you. I hope you enjoy watching us. We’ll be on our best behavior for you.”
He turned back to the others, “Let’s get started then. Start with a small warmup, but don’t overdo it.” He looked over at the Miya Twins, “Okay?”
Atsumu groaned while Osamu nodded. With that, everyone dispersed.
You went over to the bleachers and let out a sigh of relief. The boys began to run drills. You watched as they ran back and forth across the gym floor, stretching gently in between. Practice went by slowly and was utterly boring to you. You weren’t quite interested in the sport, so having to sit through two hours of this was hell on Earth.
An hour in, practice took a pause. You stood up and stretched, sighing a bit discontently. I want to go hooommeee…
“How do you feel about the club so far?”
You turned around and were met with Kita once again, “It’s.. fine.”
“I can tell you aren’t a fan,” his ability to see through you were scary.
“It’s… a bit boring. Going by a bit slow,” you gave him a sheepish smile.
“Well if you don’t think you can commit, let us know sooner than later. We don’t want someone who isn’t reliable.”
His words cut through you a bit, causing your cheeks to heat up. You weren’t a fan of him reading your mind like that.
But part of his almost disapproving words sparked some sort of fire in you. “I’ll commit,” you replied firmly, confidently. “I am more than capable.”

Art danced across your arm as you dragged the pen further across your skin. You weren’t paying attention to the lecture very well, and in between note taking, you’d draw on yourself. You knew exactly what your mom would say when you got home:
“Don’t do that, you’ll get sick! You’ll get a skin disease!”
You continued to draw on yourself when suddenly the bell rang. It was lunch time. Unfortunately for you, all of your friends were in different classes. You grabbed your lunch out, putting your notebooks away. You remained by yourself.
The first few lonely lunches were embarassing, complete social suicide. You wanted to cry. Everyone sat by their friends and there you were, alone, secluded in a corner. But by now, you’ve grown used to it.
The kids in your class knew your name, but certainly weren’t your friends. People wondered how you ended up in this class, everybody thought you would’ve dropped out. They make it clear every day that you don’t fit in here. You were different from the rest, stranger, weirder. You always had your earbuds in, no matter what. The teachers never questioned it either, not when you were a straight-A student.
Weird, quiet, and smart—but not a superstar. Those who were actually gifted were popular. You were just able to get by.
You worked on your homework as you slowly ate your lunch, blasting music, not expecting any visitors. That is until one of your classmates suddenly approached your desk. Aran Ojiro.
“Hey y/n!” he smiled at you. You wondered if this was a set up. You knew who he was friends with—the volleyball team—so you assumed this was some stunt they were trying to do.
You hummed in response, and despite your suspicion, you tried to remain polite.
“I was just curious, are you in any clubs yet?” You felt your cheeks flush with embarrassment. You weren’t, no. They’re trying to corner you, aren’t they?
Your brows furrowed slightly as you responded more bluntly, “No.”
Aran easily caught onto your change in tone, smiling sheepishly, “I’m not sure what you like to do after school, buuuuttttt…” He dragged on, setting a paper on your desk.
“The boy’s volleyball team is looking for a manager. We were told that you had some leadership experience and that you’re a good student, so I thought asking you might be good.”
Your head cocked in curiosity. You had some experience from clubs you were in the previous years. This year, you didn’t want to be in any clubs. You told yourself that every time you came home frustrated and stressed from long practice nights.
“I’m not really into sports…” You replied, looking away a bit with shame. You might as well have called yourself a total loser to a popular guy’s face.
“You don’t have to be!” He grinned, “We can teach you the basics! Besides, you have experience managing, right? I was told you held some leadership roles in the arts department.”
“Yeah, well, it’s very different… I’m not sure I’d quite fit in. Besides, I’m trying to focus on work.”
“We can accommodate!” They must be desperate. His lip formed into a pout, “Just try it out! We have practice after school tonight, just show up and watch! Don’t discourage yourself! You’ll never know what makes you happy if you don’t bother trying it out.”
You didn’t have anything after school… So maybe you could stop by. You couldn’t deny being a little bit excited. It was an invitation to be around popular kids—not that you cared that much. But you cared a little.
“Okay, I’ll stop by…” You responded almost hesitantly.
“Great! Can’t wait! You’re seriously a life saver!”
“Wait, I never said I’d join—”
“See you later!”
With that, the lunch bell rang and Aran went back to his seat.
That just gave you something new to sit and chew on.
