So with the whole Netflix resurgence, I just have to say that I really think it’s very crazy that no one seems to talk at all about the fact that in season one alone, quite literally within a seven episode span, there is not one, but two plots that revolve around a man accidentally killing his wife, but in both cases he is still a good guy and we should root for him and actually in one case his slutty wife who he killed is the bad guy who forced him into it says Ross Poldark. Like I didn’t catch it when I watched it in high school somehow, but I’m genuinely stupefied that I’m not seeing anything about this.

When my wife went in for surgery before we got married, it was me and her horrifically homophobic mother in the surgery center waiting room and I knew without a doubt that if anything went wrong, I would be expected to leave without any access to her belongings, the pictures of us on her phone, or the funeral itself, and the obituary would not mention me or our relationship at all.

And that was after almost a decade of marriage equality! The fear and anxiety leading up to that surgery and the recovery process after reinforced for me just how important marriage can be. It’s a form of self-determination.
