Pride Month (2024)
Bumbleby Kisses (Blake Belladonna x Yang Xiao Long)
RWBY: the show that made people cry because Mulan and Thor held hands.
Don’t forget the time Achilles kissed Jone of Arc and then got murdered by Cinderella.
Or the part where Jack Frost slaps Snow White in the face and disinherits her, after which she decides to run away from home and hitch a ride on a cargo ship smuggling magical gunpowder.
Or when Edward called Alphonse a pipsqueak.
When the Scarecrow got drunk and booped the nose of the Great and Powerful Oz.
This…this is RWBY….
Just a remainder that cleopatra made achilles murder pinocchio
Actually @alltheallstars Emerald is based on Aladdin. Aladdin made Achilles murder Pinocchio
And everyone wants Belle to either make out with Goldilocks or the Monkey King.
And the Wicked Witch choked the Cowardly Lion with a jellyfish while Dr Watson watched.
Also Lampwick and an ice cream cone were the best characters. And the seven dwarves were just one guy with D.I.D.
And Little Red Riding Hood gouged out Cinderella’s eye with eye lasers.
The fandom is torn apart because people can’t decide if Belle should make out with Goldylocks or the Monkey King while everyone was suddenly very gay for Shir Khan.
Don’t forget Cinderella pouting because her fairy godmother wouldn’t let her go on a murder spree
Of ALL the replies this one is my favourite right now.
RWBY is such a good show
Also Baghira is Belle’s dad and he doesn’t like the Monkey King but her mom the Hindu goddess of destruction does.
As someone who has never watch rwby, what the actual Frick
Watch it. You won’t regret it.
Anyone remember when Peter Pan was fighting the Indiegogo staff, or when Elsa slapped Snow White and called her a boob? Also people are shipping Red Riding Hood with Dorothy, but the Wizard of Oz may stand between them.
Also Mulan’s dad is Hanzo Shimada.
This post doesn’t stop to amaze me.
Are y’all just gonna forget the time when Nyan Cat said Goldilocks’ boobs were too big and her teammate Bruno Mars did a shadow clone jutsu while fighting Snow White
Remember when Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Belle and Goldilocks had a food fight against Jone of Arc, Thor, Achilles and Mulan.
And the Good Witch was fucking pissed that they had started a food fight.
And the Monkey King loved the fight but Poseidon didn’t because he got food in the face.
Don’t forget that everyone in the fandom (and I mean EVERYONE) is sexually attracted to Mulan. But they’re too afraid to say it because Thor will f*ck them up.
Don’t you guys remember that Red Riding Hood hides all her feelings because she is selfless? After the deaths of Pinocchio and Achilles, she has been very depressed. But FINALLY she talked to Dorothy. It’s good that Red Riding Hood got some development.
speaking for myself I ship Red Riding Hood/Snow White and Belle/Goldilocks, But I’m not going to knock others for their ships (except Goldilocks/Red Riding Hood(’cause that’s incest), Cinderella/Red Riding Hood, and Torchic/Red Riding Hood (those two would most likely be abusive)
I agree with this
Snow White and Red Riding hood ♥
I ship Pinocchio (with strings) and Red Riding hood… also I never thought that shipping the scarecrow with Elsa would be so great, and now we just met the Red Queen and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum who denied Dorothy access to the Magical Kingdom because they hate eachother
Also the boy who I have to assume was Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk is now emerging Minds with the Great and Powerful Oz. This may be the greatest fanfiction of all time in animated, copyright free, form
RWBY is solid man
I remember looking at this post a couple years back and now it’s even better
Robin Hood lost to Jack Frost in an election because John Watson hacked the votes
Goldilocks and Belle indeed confessed their love for each other and made out in the middle of Wonderland, the Mad Hatter drove an already very depressed Red Riding Hood to drinking tea to kill herself but she ended up coming back after a therapy session with God and then teamed up with Goldilocks, Belle and Snow White to beat the shit out of the Cheshire Cat who was a villain and had previously possessed the Mad Hatter, but Joan of Arc did a weed-induced exorcism and forced the cat out. Then the Mad Hatter killed the Cheshire Cat and decided to get another therapy session with God herself to see where she got.
It is important to Note that the Mad Hatter and the afforementioed Ice Cream Cone are outright the same person.
And that The Scarlet Fever Velveteen Rabbit and the Chanel Corporation are one of the Biggest Ships outside of the main cast.
Also important to note that the Grim Reaper (who’s a blind old lady) kicked the shit out of the Mad Hatter/Ice Cream Cone. And Aladdin who was on Cinderella and the Wicked Witch’s side ended up defecting to Red Riding Hood’s side and actually tried to help save Pinocchio’s life this time. Sadly Pinocchio ended up sacrificing herself with the help of Joan of Arc and before dying she transfered her powers to Snow White’s older sister aka Elsa who proceeded to use them to get rid of the Tin Man, who used to be her boss but Elsa after an entire volume in conflicto she defected and fought him off when she saw that he was impossible to reason with (he wanted to nuke a city). Then Elsa fought Cinderella but Cinderella threw Snow White into the void and Elsa had a mental breakdown thinking she was dead before swearing to Cinderella that she’d kill her
Belle and Goldilocks forever 💛💜
A Night to Remember...
Surpriiise @yangtism , it is I, your RWBY fanworks exchange giftee! <33 I took one look at your requests, saw Bumblebee, saw your 'fake dating' prompt, and I ran with it I'm sorry I was late, my ambition unfortunately didn't match my available time. 😅 But- I hope you are happy with your gift! I sure had a ton of fun working on it. 🥰🥰
And of course, thank you @remnants-of-rwby-exchange for organizing this exchange!! It turned out absolutely amazing and I'm so glad so many awesome and talented people took part.
Cheers guys, and onto the next rwby celebration! 💕
A Story Done Right
Kill Bill, The Princess Bride, Blue-Eyed Samurai, Wrath of Khan. Our media is saturated with revenge stories. Even children's tales often have revenge as a sweeping premise (e.g., the countless Star Wars villains as a modern example, but older tales such as Cinderella were even more rife with vindictive messages). And to be honest, I have never cared for this plot type.
Revenge stories are usually violent, merciless, myopic, and pretty disregarding of 'collateral' losses. Not all, but most lack any type of interesting moral symbology and substitute dynamic storylines and complex character development in lieu of exciting action scenes and a prosaic fixation on bloodshed. There are certainly exceptions to this, many of the titles I listed above actually have a lot of great things going for them. But I would say that these qualities are in spite of their focus on revenge and not because of it.
And there are an endless number of animes, movies, books, and other stories based on revenge that simply do not appeal to me (not judging other people if they like violent action media, just not my personal taste). Most of the time, I am just left feeling empty at the end, like Neo after volume 9.
But there is one exception to this theme. One revenge story that leaves me feeling whole, not empty. From the banner image, I think it is pretty obvious which story it is. This is my own highly subjective opinion, but I truly believe that the fight with Adam represents the perfect revenge story. And here is my reasoning.
Revenge is Not The Hero's Purpose
In too many stories, the premise begins with douchebag 'X' killing damsel 'Y', leading to hero 'Z' killing a lot of henchmen and blowing up a lot of buildings all for the singular purpose of making Mr. X pay. Once they achieve this purpose, they look around aimlessly before wandering off to have a milkshake or play golf or something. Yeah well, this story does not do this. Killing Adam was never the objective for Blake and Yang, because they have actual goals that involve saving people and not just executing some vendetta.
Don't get me wrong. I love redemption stories, I find them so much more satisfying, especially when the character in question has to struggle to overcome the gravity of what they have done (note: a redemption arc does not mean instant forgiveness, it might never end with actual for absolution for what they have done). I love Emerald's story and think it has a lot of interesting twists that it can take. But there are some characters who are just too far gone to save. And Adam fits that perfectly.
He has a tragic backstory and I truly pity him. But he is also an abusive, murdering shitlord who manipulated and groomed Blake (I wouldn't be surprised if he physically or sexually abused her, which is somewhat implied by her frequently defensive body posture, but is not definite). He kills out of spite and represents Yang's demon, who she could have become. It was cathartic to watch him fall, but I am ever so grateful that his demise was not the purpose of Blake and Yang. Because killing him out of spite for what he did to them would not be much different than the way he lashed out at others for the traumas that he has endured. Some might call it justice, but justice and revenge are two sides of the same coin and the edges between them can be blurry.
The point is, Yang and Blake are so much more than Adam. They killed him out of necessity, not out of hate.
They Are Set on the Future
As I mentioned, I often feel empty at the end of a revenge story. When the villain lies dead within a pool of their own blood and the hero has achieved everything they sought to accomplish, what more is there really? Often, I feel like the story has reached its ending without really achieving anything of note. Often, without really making the world a better place. A plot about revenge is not the same as one about taking someone down to save other people. The former is what Adam wanted and it would have made the world a worse place. But Yang and Blake are protectors. The fight was exhilarating and satisfying, but it ultimately humanized these characters whereas most revenge stories do the opposite, treating human life as cheap entertainment to be killed in the most 'epic' way possible.
But more important, the fight left me feeling excited about the future, rather than feeling burn out from seeing the villain die. Adam was fixated on the past. He was a character of the past. He represented Blake and Yang's trauma, their old demons and fears. He had no further place in their character arcs, because they had evolved into something so much more. Killing Adam was not the end of their story as it is in so many revenge plots. It was simply a new beginning. It felt whole and wholesome. Past, present, and future.
Because it is the People Who Matter
Ultimately, the fight was never about killing Adam. It was about bringing Yang and Blake together. About having them overcome the demons of their past. About the importance of mental health. About their individual traumas (abandonment issues & PTSD for Yang and Blake's fear of hurting others). About the challenges that LGBTQ+ people face in finding security in a hostile world. It was about these two, fucking amazing characters and the ineffably wondrous relationship that forms between them. One based on actual fucking support, equality, and love.
That is all I have on this right now. Hopefully, I did not offend too many people by criticizing typical revenge stories. But I have been wanting to talk about my love and appreciation of this scene for years. I know there have been so many more people who have discussed these same themes and points before, probably more adroitly than my rambling mess, but this is my rambling mess. Thanks for reading!
Random side trivia 1: Mandy Patinkin, the actor who played Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, is famous for his iconic line, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Mandy felt that the scene was symbolic of feelings towards the illness that took his father. But regarding revenge against people, he actually dislikes his iconic line and how it idolizes revenge.
Random side trivia 2: I love Jeff & Casey William songs and I just love BMBLY (except or that creepy line about the birds and butterflies knowing, wtf). But as an ecologist, I should note that bumblebees do not make honey. Jeff was thinking of European honey bees. Bumblees are cute, fuzzy, chunky super pollinators that live in the ground, in hollow plant stems, or other obscure spots and are either solitary or have very small hives. They virtually never bother people and are super pollinators, actually much better pollinators than honeybees (which are super awesome cool in their own right, but also highly invasive in the western hemisphere and hurt our native pollinators D: And yes, I cherry-picked the ugliest picture of one that I could find). Many bumblebees are endangered, just like our beloved Bumblebees. Save the bees! AND THE BEES!
i think one of my favourite things about stalking jack the ripper is the well written way in which men influence audrey rose’s life and how that plays into her relationship with thomas
one of my favourite moments in the whole series is when she pulls the dagger out of the cane in ctd, and she says “thomas. my brilliant, cunning, prepared man.”
it’s the climax of HER series, and she’s fighting the final obstacle alone. there isn’t going to be some man who swoops in to save her and the day and fix everything, as it should be. but unlike so many other series that butcher the strong female trope, love and moments of weakness and relying on others are never seen as a bad thing. audrey so often saves the day, not because some some author has had a man do all the work and then pawn the victory on to the woman or because she’s some cold loner who refuses any sort of connection (which isn’t always a bad thing but something commonly criticized), but because she actively relies on people and eventually allows them in. throughout the whole series her mental impacts are acknowledged, she opens up to thomas, she relies on liza and daciana and ileana. and this is how the series is able to maintain an empowering tone despite its time period.
it’s through this willingness to let other people in that audrey is able to move through her worlds restrictions, and this is how the men in her life are written so well, (doing what they can in the context of the time they live in). from her uncle to her father, no man ever does anything for her. she’s simply given opportunities to prove herself (which are also huge privileges but we know how rare even that was in her time), to do what she’s always been able to do, but not always been able to have the stage to show it. in efh she acknowledges how her uncle and thomas have given her an opportunity, not just merely allowed her to be there on a whim but given her a way to prove its where she belongs, and given her their trust and faith in her skills.
and thats why i love that scene from ctd, its such a beautiful culmination of audrey rose and thomas’s relationship. its a blatant acknowledgment of how he learned to care for her in way that doesn’t smother her, how he actively learned and grew from their conflict in hpd. thomas doesn’t defeat the enemy for her, hell he isn’t even there, but he still finds a way to help her. he doesnt take over from her, doesnt tell her what to do, his love and care keep her up and give her what she needs to get things done on her own, a running theme in the series. the people she loves are consistently there for her, and give her the strength to get things done on her own. arguably the most beautiful symbol is the cane itself, how its existence is a reminder of thomas and it gives her strength, not because he’s there to take over for her, but because even a reminder of his love and support for her is enough to give her a boost to be successful in her own right
tl;dr i just really love how the men in the series don’t see women as fragile and in need of a saviour, but as capable people sometimes in need of a leg up or a shoulder to rely on

Deleted Scenes From The Cruel Prince
(Some of these are alternate storylines)
These are all of them, both deleted and alternate storyline. I highly recommend buying this TCP edition 🫶🏼 as it comes with gorgeous artwork and a neat velvet cover!
oh this hit me like a truck
No marriage required.
the entire time i spent watching this movie i was just waiting for charlotte to turn into a traitorous bitch, because that is what the media has told me for my entire life that her character archetype is supposed to do
kudos to disney for proving me wrong
Let me tell you how great Lottie is. 1. She has EVERYTHING. This girl can literally have anything she wants and instead of hanging out with girls of her social class she’s friends with a poor girl. 2. Not only is she below her social class but she is African American which back in the twenties was COMPLETELY frowned upon. Lottie is risking social status to be friends with Tia. 3. When Tia and Naveen end up together in the end, Lottie doesn’t throw a fit or act upset, she is genuinely happy that Tiana has found true love even though that’s all Lottie has ever wanted her whole life. Something that her daddy can’t buy for her. 4. She’s true to herself and doesn’t let others judge her just because of how much money she has and she has a wonderful friend like Tiana that loves her for that. Lottie is wonderful and is highly underrated.
If Tiana had let her, Charlotte would have bought the restaurant for Tiana and stocked it with the most expensive everything and had a grand ball for the opening.
#Charlotte was a ride or die chick to the end#like she’s the defination of sugar and sweetness as a person#like Tiana could ask her for anything and Charlotte would do it no questions or conditions required
Remember that scene when Charlotte was hanging out with the prince until she came across Tiana who had fallen into her beignet table and gotten desserts all over her dress after being rejected by the racist assholes who denied her restaurant, and Charlotte immediately dropped everything to get Tiana cleaned up and gave her one of her own dresses. The entire night she’d been going nuts because all she wanted was to be with the prince but her friend was in trouble so she put that shit on hold no questions asked. Charlotte was a real one.

if i had a nickel for every time arryn zech played a sapphic character with a black/purple color scheme i’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s amazing that it’s happened twice
Hey I'll take you up on that offer of a list of your favourite Bees fics 👀👀👀
Always looking for more. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface though. And if they're half as good as the Midnight Bees fic then yes please!
Oh Anon do I have a list for you.
A Note Before We Begin: Most of these Bumbleby fics are lengthy, multi-chapter pieces, often coming in at 70k+ words. The majority of these recommendations are not light reads because I am a sucker for emotional journeys full of ups, downs, and angst. If you're looking for more lighthearted recommendations, then I am unfortunately too much of an emotional masochist for you! (But, considering you've come here as a fan of MM, I have a feeling you'll enjoy these)
I'll also be updating this post with new fics occasionally, and to update my Top 5! So if you ever need something new to read, come back and check out this recs list :]
~ 💛💜 Now, let's begin 💜💛 ~
My Top 5 Favorite Bumbleby Fics (as of April 2024)
