Obviously Red Pill and related movements were mostly full of shit but I do think it's useful to break down exactly where they go off the rails. For instance, the idea of a sexual marketplace. The idea that large numbers of repeated consensual interactions converge to something like a market is imo not unreasonable. But then they start applying ideas that are either only true in idealized, perfectly competitive markets, or are not true of any market at all. Thinking for just two seconds should reveal that the actual sexual market place is full of assymetric information, high transaction costs, and non-fungible products. But the most egregious oversight of this line of thinking is the implicit assumption that there is low market concentration and no market power, something that is immediately recognizable as false when we realize that a solid 42% of US domestic sucking and fucking was provided by your mom.
To be clear, it's inaccurate to describe your mom as holding a monopoly position in the sexual marketplace. What she's achieved is not dominance through exclusionary practices, but rather an exceptionally competitive cost structure and historically low barriers to entry.
Lot of Homestuck fans addicted to being as purposefully obtuse as possible in explaining what it is, which is odd because it's really that hard to describe or explain. The reason for this is that it blew their minds when they were 13 and thus are incapable of considering it anything but uncommunicatable qualia instead of, you know, a piece of media.

The term "book of the dead" doesnt really give you perspective to how big a lot of Egyptian funerary texts are.
Imhoteps book of the Dead is 64 feet long.
Okay, but a lot of books would be that long if you laid the pages out
the average printed page is 6 inches wide. so if a book is 128 pages, its 64 ft long. I dont think I own a book with fewer than 128 pages.
It's honestly not that impressive at all. Fuck pharaoh Imhotep and his pathetic short book.
Listening to eight years of conservatives telling me that Obama was just about to use the national guard against American citizens on some minor pretext and wouldn't that be the most awful and tyrannical thing and just the fact that I believe he might do it shows how tyrannical he is,
Followed immediately by, "Yeah, of course Trump should use armed national guardsmen for law enforcement, especially in jurisdictions that mouth off to him, I don't see what the big deal is"
Is really pissing me off.
Honestly just in fucking general it's infuriating to watch Trump just do all the shit that the authoritarian Obama and Biden administrations were totally just about to do, you guys!
The problem with liberals is that they have this authoritarian desire to squash political speech they disagree with, and they value feelings over facts, and they attack college professors who disagree with them and don't they understand that robust debate is a core value to be defended at any cost, and they use the government to enforce this stuff, and they view ordinary citizens as enemies, and they're going to build giant camps to herd people into based on the tiniest pretexts, and they're going to use the military and national guard against states that dissent and isn't all of that so incredibly scary we need to stop it it's the most dangerous attitude in the world and that's why I voted for Trump.
i think substack kind of reveals the problem with a lot of young writers and it's that they have nothing to talk about beyond writing and weepy little bits of introspection about "the unbearable fragility of young adulthood" or their failed relationships or living in new york that all say the same things. idk maybe training just to Write doesn't give you much to say
Part of the problem is there's too much culture in New York, paradoxically leading to its residents to only talk about New York. We should ship all the writers to Ohio, so Ohioanites finally have something to talk about and we can get some good substacks about corn fields.
Or, hey, instead of Ohio, how about Iowa? I bet we would get really great non-homogenous culture if a bunch of talented young writers were just shipped off to Iowa to interact with each other and do Iowa stuff. We wouldn't have to get rid of the NYC scene, it could be a competing power center. I think this is the solution to all our problems.

the problem with internet porn is it's on the computer and you should get off the computer. Leave the house, get Hustler magazine at a newsstand, and jerk off in the park.
