Research into skate / alternative culture and the local music scene in Newcastle upon Tyne as for my piece I wanted to focus on the alternative music scenes and venues in Newcastle as it is something I am very interested and a part of making it easier for me to make an effective piece reflective of the music scene. Research for a project on layout in which I had to create a double page spread attracting investors into the city of Newcastle upon Tyne by showing them an alternative side to the city. This research was on different magazines such as Little White Lies and Raygun, printing processes like screen printing, different typographic designers such as Seb Lester, Jessica Walsh and Mike Perry and a look into different styles of layout in magazines. In this project I had to create an original advertisement for Lego, researching current adverts and alternative advertising. I created two designs one for future astronauts with astronaut themed lego pieces and one for the future builders with builder themed lego pieces.

Sketchbook research and development for a unit on everyday objects, our final outcomes had to be a set of 8 postcards. In my final 8 I opted for a Wes Anderson theme using iconic objects from each of his movies to make the piece more interesting, as Wes Anderson is a director who’s aesthetic is very appealing to me.
