Remember when Izzy handed a hand-carved shark to Lucius and said, “Not moving on is worse,” when what he really meant is, “when you all made something for me, showed me how much you care, it saved my life. Here. I made something for you.”

Those who watch this show at a surface level come away from this scene thinking that the message is, “bury your trauma.”

I don’t think the show actually has a message about how to heal from trauma. It knows that it’s a 30 minute comedy. But I do think it suggests we should all at least try to be open to accepting love and help from our community. It’s at least a starting point.
