Hear me out about my favorite s.o.b in the Wilson family :
I think Wade is deeply unwell, and Frannie should've dragged him to a fucking therapist as soon as she noticed how intense and abnormal his negative feelings towards Slade were instead of feeding into the jealousy and paranoia, consciously or not...
We don’t see much and and we don’t really know anything concrete about Slade and Wade’s childhood, but the way Frannie absolutely fawns over Slade in the few issues she shows up in? I can’t help but think that could’ve done some serious damage to the way her son’s personality formed.
Like… imagine growing up constantly feeling like your mother prefers another “son” who isn’t even hers.
And then that same guy ends up marrying someone you used to date??
Of course, for any of this to even remotely work psychologically, you would already have to be completely unwell—like, fully consumed by jealousy and paranoia levels of unwell :
But I honestly think Wade is convinced of what he’s saying. That Slade IS the big villain of his life, born just to take everything from him and make his existence miserable. It’s a pretty classic paranoid delusion pattern, honestly.
A little bonus just for you guys, since you went to the trouble of reading my little take 😌 :
Day 1. "I will kill for you." ; "Please don't."
the sixth sorrow
Have you read the sixth sorrow?

Summary:
Dick is haunted by the ghost of Grant Wilson. Yes, like his actual ghost. No, he’s not lying, why the hell would he lie about something like that, Slade? Slade, come back. Seriously? You’ve met aliens, you’ve literally entered the speed force, but you draw the line at believing in ghosts?

Submitter's comment:
i really appreciate how rough and imperfect the characters are in this, and the lack of a perfect resolution; the grief is so so real. slade gets dimensions and we get to see his perspective of the other characters. love the little details that crop up - the couch! the walls! - which serve as morsels of characterization as well as make the world lived-in.
You run away from home and your father hires Deathstroke to bring you back home
making joey wilson canon bisexual and giving him a toxic relationship with his father's old army friend was genuinely such an enlightened choice
Deathstroke: The Terminator 6 (2026) variant by Dike Ruan
very fast Jason doodles and portrait ,, he’s wearing an avenged sevenfold tank bc yes

idk guys sometimes you just have to accept a ship dynamic is unhealthy, insane, and sometimes abusive. and its not real people so those factors just make it interesting
please stop unfolding the origami crane and smoothing it out bc you got worried the paper was hurting from the bends
I need to get back into Connor Hawke, because imagine being a teenage/early-twenties vigilante who has to take up your father's mantle after he dies in a low-key suicidal manner and you've had like two and a half conversations with him but he was still such a big part of your life without even knowing it. And you have crazy daddy issues AND mommy issues and have imprinted on your dad's assassin best frenemy who double-crossed him every other day back in the 80s and he would kill anyone who looked at you wrong but you're a pacifist vegetarian who wants him to pretty please NOT and also stop smoking and your other parental figure is a hardcore monk and you two get him to shave his head and give up his criminal ways for like two weeks. And your best friend is an artsy space hero whose main interests are cars and girls meanwhile you're an ex-monk with like negative three worldly desires who can't drive so he builds you constructs of like... horses instead. And you're on the justice league and one of the best martial artists in the world and that batman guy respects you and you've teamed up with his sidekick a few times and he thinks you ROCK and pretty much everyone you meet who isn't evil has that same level of adoration and respect towards you but you're still insecure and hesitant a lot of the time but you don't let it stop you from doing the right thing because that's just the kind of person you are.
Also it's the 90s and you're being written by Chuck Dixon because who isn't.
