How do you feel about this DCMK ship?
This ship is one of my favourites!
I like this ship / I think it's interesting
I feel neutral about this ship
This ship is a NOTP for me
weather's been getting hot
actually creators can be wrong about their characters sometimes. for example sometimes a creator thinks their character has blue eyes
stargazing
Akemi’s so smart and competent and cool y’all. I can see why Gosho brought her back for a larger and more sinister role. I bet “Hirota Masumi” was a fan favorite.
More Akemi simping:
A fave headcanon of mine is that Akemi and Shiho took the same aptitude tests when they were younger, but when they were testing Akemi, she realized what they were doing and failed on purpose

Rewatched the Ayumi Kidnapping Case and I love it so much. Conan is such a menace. DetCo whimsy on full display.
(On the other hand, Ayumi got to be cool for about 2 episodes before she started getting Gosho'd starting from this ep)
Between menace!Conan in this ep and the bunny balloon gag in the Tenkaichi case, I’m not sure which part is my favorite so far

4 and 8 for the detco asks!
HELLO! Yes.

4. what do you think will happen if one day it turns out that the aptx antidote haibara developed no longer works for conan?
I've actually thought about this multiple times, and I think it wouldn't be as easy as either accepting it OR fighting it. Shinichi is a smart guy, he knows deep down that only Shiho can create an antidote, and if she can't do it, no one can. And it's a massive plot point that Shinichi can't take the trial antidote multiple times because he will develop an immunity to it.
In my opinion, when he realizes he is the only one the antidote doesn't work on, he would be extremely bitter about it. Assuming this antidote also works on Mary, Shinichi would have to go through all five stages of grief because he is now, in a way, dead. He's mourning both his identity and his entire drive to live. Because this isn't just a matter of his physical body, but also his drive/will to live. Shinichi is a goal-oriented man, if he sets his mind on a problem, he becomes obsessed with solving it, we see this time and again with how he grows fixated on a case and neglects everything and everyone else, and his body shrinking is now this massive, unsolvable problem. No matter how smart he is, how strong he is, or how many resources and support he has, the problem he needs to solve the most is now unsolvable.
He would get bitter because the solution is… right there. The antidote is there, and yet he is the only one rejected by it. What is basically a medical tragedy now feels like a personal attack. Because this is not for any lack of trying on his part, he feels cheated. This is unfair.
So yes, I think he would feel bitter. He would be stuck in grief without being able to move past it, and maybe even become depressed because of it. I don't believe he will ever get any psychological help, just based on the way he's written, so I think he will just hide deep inside himself and go through the motions. He might hate being called by his dead name while resenting his new one. He'll probably grow into a cynical adult over time, maybe even more cold-hearted than he already is. But who knows, a miracle can always happen, I suppose.
Anyway, I've written multiple fics and snippets regarding this outcome too, and I will probably write more in the future aha.
8. akai has been described as "gin on the good guys side sometimes", if you were to craft an AU where he is a loyal organization member, what would be the traits that distinguish him from gin?
I think what REALLY distinguishes him from Gin is his temper as well as his decision making process. Akai is almost impossible to read, whereas Gin is ironically more honest because he’s a pure sadist.
See, this is based on personal observation, but what's funny about Akai is that he never really raises his voice? Even in M24, where he is supposed to be yelling through his earpiece, his tone only rises the slightest bit. So, whatever he is feeling, you can never get an easy read on him, at least not by his tone or expression alone.
Gin is a sadist, full stop. He loves inflicting pain, and a huge chunk of his job involves doing just that. His emotions colour his every decision; they don't control him, and he IS cool under pressure, but the end goal of most of what he does is cruelty. He's way smarter than the other members, seeing how easily and relentlessly he tracked down both Conan and Camel, but his method of execution is… let's say, self-indulgent. That man set a whole island on fire just to hunt Camel and then decided to use a GRENADE to double-tap? A GRENADE!?
Because of that, I think what would truly distinguish Rye from Gin is their decision-making process. Rye is not a good person, and he wouldn't be a better person, but he would be the more efficient one. He wouldn't waste time trying to intimidate all his subordinates (like what Gin does to Kir constantly) or decide to blow up a damn Ferris wheel just to kill a few witnesses. He'd be more efficient, more focused, and therefore, more ‘fair’ and trustworthy.
If RUM wanted something done fast and easy, he'd probably pick Rye over Gin. Whatever decision Rye makes, it would be based on efficiency; whether it requires death or torture, he'll do it. Like, yes, he'll break every bone in someone's body because he feels like it, but you won't have to question WHY he does it, you'd know he's doing it for a reason and not just to play with his food.
So, while both of them can be cruel, ultimately Gin is a sadist, whereas Rye is a pragmatist, so you can reason with him, making him uh, more approachable, and digestible. That’s what sets them apart.
