othe same pose and such different emotions
When in Pitch’s Lair:
Jack Frost: Great. Nightmares, shadows - Oh, this place is all kinds of fun.
Pitch Black: I'm so glad you think so.
I'd like to make a headcanon that since Jack Frost can't send snow to some places like deserts and such, I'd like to imagine he still goes to those places to at least blow a lot of cool fresh air on people who are walking out in the heat.

oh my god i just made myself realize jack is in the water while hiccup is the wind. jack is nobody’s son because we never saw his dad…
Jack: that 'Snotlout' sure is an asshole. Hiccup: ehhhhhhhhyyyyyeeeaa. but we're working on it? Jack: your lack of confidence in that is concerning. - Jack: you're telling me that you almost died at 14 for a village that treated you like an outlier your entire life before that and you're just fine with it? Hiccup: Hiccup: i mean, dying isn't exactly uncommon here- Jack: the fact that's your defense is gonna give me gray hairs. and my hair is already white. Hiccup: wait, it is? Jack: metaphorically speaking. - Hiccup: -and that's everything covered! so... what do you think? Jack: Jack: *peer reviewing* i wasn't 100% sure before, but you're definitely autistic. Hiccup: au-what? - Jack: i think extensive social isolation is bound to make you a lil *taps temple w/ finger* in the head, but i dunno, that's just me. Hiccup: you sound like you're talking from experience. Jack: anyway, moving on. Hiccup: wait-

Day 9: Mutualism Okay, I told I'd show my OC x Canon thing sooner or later, so here it is. Maybe I should turn it into separate AU or something.
The Author & The Muse: Fear cannot be killed nor cannot be truly contained. However, when it breaks out, it will be too late - too many generations have passed for anyone to remember it. Yet, there are those in this world who can see spirits even as adults. Or hypothetical scenario where Pitch somehow got out of his underground prison only to find he's fading even faster than before. Weakened by years of torture, he roams the world aimlessly until he stumbles on a human that was blessed- or cursed- by the Moon with vision. So he's made a plan to revive his influence, this time with the aim of humans themselves, something Guardians can't fight against. Nuance is that precious human is overworked stressed person with little to no free time. They strike a deal - he makes her famous writer of horror novels and she makes him known to people again. ...Anyway, they are forced to start with ao3 and fanfics. Yeah.

[Part 1] How to drink a juice box
Okay I’m having some Thoughts™ so everyone has to deal with it.
There’s a lot of posts about how Jack was powerful at no belief— so he must grow in power exponentially with his new believers. However, the Guardians were only weakened from lack of belief due to their Guardianship, and once becoming a Guardian the same would apply to Jack. Now, I’ve seen a few people mention that had Jack taken the oath earlier, without believers, he would’ve died immediately due to all his power being dependent on something he didn’t have. Unless drastic measures were taken, even at the end he still would’ve begun fading fairly quickly
This.... makes me sad, so I’m offering another option. Pitch was after belief, yes, but his primary target was fear. It isn’t the belief necessarily that makes him stronger. I know he’s not a Guardian so this isn’t the greatest base to this theory, but consider: his purpose is to spread fear, and having fear spread makes him stronger. The Guardians purpose is to protect ans serve children, therefore having no children(‘s belief) weakens them. Jack’s purpose is.... ?
After taking the oath, yes, part of his purpose would be to protect children, so he draws power from belief— specifically, that little fun magic thing he does is tied to children. However, he serves some other purpose if he was around for three hundred years before being called to the Guardians. Therefore, that other purpose- winter, most likely- is still where the vast majority of his power comes from.
In conclusion, while yes, his power will wane and grow with believers but it and his life force aren’t entirely dependent on it like the other Guardians.
This is a solid theory, I like it!
Maybe Jack is so powerful already because he doesn’t operate on a fluctating belief system? Winter is a consistent annual season that a good chunk of countries experience as snow, frost, and cold weather. aka exactly what Jack brings to the table.
I do, however, very much doubt that MiM would’ve sent one of his Guardians to their deaths so carelessly. I also doubt that he’s crafty enough to know that Jack would reject them for as long as he did. And what’s the point of going to the effort of resurecting him only to kill him 300 years later?
I don’t think the theories that Jack would have died if he’d accepted earlier on have much strength to them. What happend to the other Guardians then? When they took their oaths did they have believers already? North, Katherine and Bunny (I believe?) had no interactions with the outside world that would give them believers. Tooth and Sandy and Ombric to an extent had already had some influence on the world through Tooth Collections, dreams and those that left Santoff Claussen probably told tall tales about the Wizard that manipulated time long before the events of GoC. So if the theory that Jack would’ve faded is true, then how did North, Katherine and Bunny survive?
It’s more likely that there’s some sort of immunity during their first active years, or until they reach a certain level of believers.
I also subscribe to the theory that the Guardian’s don’t operate on separate pools of belief, rather, to ensure the saftey of the group, they share a pool of belief between them. Perhaps that’s why they stand apart from the rest of the spirit world? Becasue they were able to lean on one another when their believers waned?
It makes sense that they'd share a pool of belief! It's been awhile since I've watched rotg as a whole, but when Jack meets up with the Guardians after Jamie believes in him and regains his belief in Bunny, North says something along the lines of how the loss of Easter hit them all hard. Tooth couldn't fly and North was using his swords as canes because he could barely walk. If the Guardians share the same belief pool, that would explain why when Bunny lost his believers, it affected the others as well! But since Jamie still believed in Tooth and North, Bunny was able to lean on that belief, so he didn't fade away completely.
