@deepnchrist
Purity and holiness are key to seeing and hearing from God.
Verse of the day
If you or your blog is Christian
Please reblog and follow those who reblog. I’m looking to establish a network of Christians that are committed to prayer for one another and for a semi-public internet space to be open and deeply honest about struggles and fears. We are called to community and genuine love. Wherever this reaches, I hope you will publicly declare yourself a Christian and be unafraid to ask difficult questions and ask for help via prayer. Let’s use the internet to strengthen the church and each other’s faith.
Great idea to grow a community of believers.
That first resurrection evening
“And [Jesus] said to them, O foolish ones [sluggish in mind, dull of perception] and slow of heart to believe (adhere to and trust in and rely on) everything that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary and essentially fitting that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer all these things before entering into His glory (His majesty and splendor)?” Luke 24:25-26 AMPC
First library haul for the year. Venturing into non-fiction more in the library and found true crime - Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil which has mixed reviews but I’m more excited for The Republic of Pirates which is set in Bahamas. For fiction picks I’m all set for femmeuary and most excited to read Attica Locke and Edwidge Danticat. Louise Edrich is my attempt to read more Native Americsn voices.
International Day of the Bible
Psalms 119:18 (NKJV) " Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law. " The psalm to read which truly celebrates the Bible is Psalm 119. On this day when we look to celebrate this gift from God so that we can know him, here is a good poem to read and meditate on. My prayer is that as you read, you not only learn about God and what he wants from us but that you are transformed by it.
International Day of the Bible
Psalms 91:1-2 (NKJV) " PSALM 91 Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” "
I'm reading 1 John 3:18
Verse of the day There are a lot of imagery in the Bible using a tree, from Genesis to Revelation. Today's verse is no different, it speaks of the roots. The roots speak of nutrients that the tree receives, and it is also the means of supporting the body. So this verse challenges us to consider what am I feeding myself with? Will that food support me in hard times? And even though we like to hold Jesus and something else, there is no tree with divided foundations. So we need to rooted in Jesus alone.
Words that resonate
I am ever mindful of the Lord's presence; He is at my right hand, I will never be shaken. So my heart rejoices, my whole being exults, and my body rest secure Taken from the Jewish Study Bible Psalm 16:8,9
October is almost over and here are my November want to read books. There are other potentials but these seem more suitable for November.
Verse of the day
2 Samuel 7:22 " “How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears."
Currently reading this debut novel of Hannah Kent. Love the texture of this book cover. It's blue, a good color with the feather of indigo- think this may be related to the ravens which are symbolic in this novel. At page 177 and enjoying this one. Iceland 🇮🇸 not as glamorous as I saw in the film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty but still would love to travel and see it. Love the complexity of Anges, Totí and Steina so far. Wish I could hear some of the poems outlined in Icelandic though. Making me consider the outcast of society and how they are treated.
