The 'hyperspecific situations' polls are really once again highlighting that native English speakers tend to forget that 'foreign' doesn't mean 'non-English' or 'non-American'
"Did you watch a foreign language movie in the past three days?" Yeah I watched the foreign movie "The Martian" with foreign actor Matt Damon

Won’t lie, if I were having a rough time and the office himbos brought me mac and cheese I would be cured.
also my favourite part of death note is that it is at its core a critique of what happens when you foster an academic culture of hobbyless behavior. none of this would have happened if light yagami played d&d
to be fair light yagami is so fucking annoying everyone would play one one-shot with him and then never invite him back to the table

How many times have you moved in your entire life?
Once
Twice
Three times
Four times
Five times
Six times
Seven times
Eight times
More than eight times
I've never moved or my situation is complicated.
If you want to add context, reblog with where you've mostly lived and/or why you've had to move in the past.
New Patreon comic about Belgium, being a Capricorn, and absurdism. Revisiting these quiz questions for the comic genuinely gave me a stress headache
As ever this is an excerpt of a longer comic, which is available to read on the $2 tier! I publish one long comic per month.
There’s tons of my work up there already to read through too, that isn’t published anywhere else:

Luv ya! Xxx
imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.
for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.
