1. Why did you choose your url?
It’s the name I go by on the Internet. 😂 I hate change, so regardless of whichever fandom I’m in, I keep it consistent. (People with multiple AO3 accounts for different fandoms, I can’t even. Don’t @ me!!!)
2. Any side blogs? If you have them, name them and why you have them
Technically @havvy-land is a sideblog but it’s just a regular blog under a different email address because the sideblog vs main blog things confuses me too much. You can’t answer asks or you can answer asks or... Yeah, I’ve been here for like a solid ten years and I still have no idea how Tumblr works.
3. How long have you been on Tumblr?
Oh, now I have to actually figure this one out. Since April 25th, 2011 according to my archive.
4. Do you have a queue tag?
No. Because I’m too lazy to keep up a queue, but if I had one, I think I’d use “queue ball - corner pocket” even though it’s silly because you don’t really announce which pocket you’re going to sink the cue ball into because you’re not supposed to sink the cue ball......
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?
My original blog was to join in all the cool kids in the Supernatural fandom -- urghegrhghhh -- and then I never really used it that much and still don’t. Started this one when I started mostly posting Queen stuff just to be able to start with a fresh timeline without having to unfollow everyone I knew on the other blog. And never really use this one either! 🙌
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?
I’m so used to my avatar being Olivia de Havilland that I started answering this question that way, but over here it’s John Deacon looking like he’s done with life. Figured I should have a Queen-specific pfp for what was essentially supposed to be a Queen blog. ~~branding.🌟
7. Why did you choose your header?
I don’t think I have a header on either blog. I don’t think I know how to do that. 😂
8. What’s your post with the most notes?
On this blog, it’s the Crystal-and-all-the-Boys post. 1400+ notes and going strong, and I’ve seen it reposted on Instagram twice. 😂
9. How many mutuals do you have?
How many mutuals do I have that are mutuals I engage with or just happen to be mutuals? I don’t know and I don’t feel like counting -- but I appreciate that Tumblr now tells you if someone you’re following follows you back so that you can fret about people who aren’t!
10. How many followers do you have?
Over here, 820. Can’t tell you why. I assume most of them are inactive now!
11. How many people do you follow?
I went on a purge a few months back to unfollow inactive blogs and people who had moved on from Queen stuff and were posting things I wasn’t really vibing with -- shoutout to the individual who is ALWAYS posting cool recipes because I will NEVER unfollow you, that shit is GREAT. So right now we’re down to 220.
12. Have you ever made a shitpost?
Yes! One time. And then someone started sending me postal codes and phone numbers into my inbox and I’m not entirely sure if the two things were related or not, but I figure they were trying to give me my details like “haha! I know where you live!” but while they were for the right general part of the country, they weren’t actually mine. So idk, honestly.
13. How often do you use Tumblr each day?
How much do I use Tumblr each week you mean? Hahahaha. I open it once a day or so, scroll for a bit, like a few things and then move on. One day I’ll fix my theme so it has a scroll bar again and then use this more. She said without much confidence.
14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won?
Uhhhhh, no? I mean, I’ve had fallings-out with people where we unfollowed each other but I’ve never had a heated Tumblr argument. “Who won” feels like a loaded question -- how do you quantify WINNING on Tumblr??? 😂
15. How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?
If you’re going to unfollow me because I didn’t reblog something on my mostly inactive Tumblr account, there’s a good chance we’re not going to hit it off as friends anyway. 😂
16. Do you like tag games?
I don’t spend a lot of time on Tumblr beyond the occasional twenty minutes of idle scrolling but I love the feeling of “oh, someone thought of me 🥺” so tag away!
17. Do you like ask games?
This one requires a little more active participation from me, which I am obviously against 😂 but if I see a friend hosting an ask game, I often drop an anon ask in their inbox just to make them smile.
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is Tumblr famous?
Does this question just exist to annoy your friends? 😂 If I say X person is Tumblr famous but not Y person, I’ma get heated DMs and hurt feelings, aren’t I? Not falling into this one. (Send me the anon messages tho, I can take it.)

Once I left college, I used to think, “Oh dear, I’m only average. I can do the work, but I’m average…”
Later on, I realized that it was a matter of perception about what I did rather than an inherent quality, or lack of quality, about what I did. I remember being with a load of other artists and suddenly realizing that the shortcomings that I was worried about in myself are still prevalent in other people’s work. So I suppose it taught me that perfection is a hopeless illusion.
Giving that new “Queen: All the Songs” book a look-see...
Tim Staffell Appreciation Weekend: February 19th-21st
Alright, there was enough interest and I’m stubborn enough that I’ve decided to bite the bullet and organize Tim Staffell Appreciation Weekend 2021!
This will run from Friday, Feb. 19th through Sunday, Feb. 21st. This is the weekend before his birthday on the 24th, which falls on a Wednesday this year.
The goal for this is pretty simple: To show our love and appreciation for Tim Staffell, and to generate some content for him where he’s the main focus and not secondary to our Queen boys.

I know I keep promising updates without it looking like there’s much action happening, but I hit a bit of a rut in that I wrote the whole thing for NaNo 2018 and then in editing / posting, retconned about 40,000 words by the second chapter. Durrrr.

about the smoking thing... I actually have no idea.. 😅😅 would you mind educating us dumb people?
Omg sure! I should’ve put it in the tags, sorry-
According to Ratty (Peter Hince, John and Freddie’s roadie) John started smoking around 1984 mostly because of stress and Freddie followed him soon after, while Roger was a smoker since the 70s and stopped in 1987 when Dominique had pneumonia. Brian never smoked!
So yeah if you read fics/see drawings of 70s or early 80s John and Freddie smoking they’re mostly inaccurate (idk if they may have had a cig every now and then, but Ratty in his book said they weren’t smokers before that date) and same applies to Roger after 1987. That Brian doesn’t smoke is quite known tbh
Ratty's account doesn't match this letter Freddie wrote for the Official International Queen Fan Club magazine in their Summer 1981 issue:
"Hello there -
I'm writing to you from my bed because I can't be bothered to get up today as it's raining buckets outside, and to be honest I'm suffering from a humongous hangover!
I have taken up a bad habit (smoking) - because everyone around me has constantly been smoking for the last few years - so as John would say, 'If you can't beat 'em, join them' - People say it will affect my voice but that's a load of bull!
I hope to be in fighting form for the next album which we begin recording at the end of June '81 in Munich.
By the way hope you all enjoyed Roger's solo effort as much as I did -.
O.K. it's time I crawled out of bed - and here's hoping for some sunny weather -

@thepurplepatty thank you for finding this! So we have an evidence that Freddie began smoking in '81, now I wonder if John still began in The Works period as Ratty said or if he began in '81 too! (Mind: Freddie only quoted John's song but didn't mention if he's smoking too)

Technically Ratty only gives a date for when John started smoking - he doesn’t say that Freddie started after him, only that he was a non-smoker who took it up in the 80s. (Which would still mesh with Freddie’s fan letter from ‘81.)
Of course, this doesn’t make up for Ratty’s other inconsistencies. 😂

“You’re Not a Good Writer.”
I once received a DM comprised of just that sentence. Nothing else. No constructive criticism or any reason as to why this person clearly agreed with my own view of myself.
For someone who has never told anyone in their real life that they write anything, reading something like this from an anonymous user only solidified in my mind the fact that this person was right.
I’m not a good writer.
After an embarrassing amount of minutes passed, in which I thought about deleting every story I ever posted, I decided to delete the message instead. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean I could delete the feelings it caused or change the fact that I’m not a good writer.
Two weeks went by and I didn’t write anything, let alone post. Then I received a comment on a story I had posted three years prior, one I’d written after a death in our family. The comment read, “Thank you for sharing this heartfelt story. I really needed this. I just lost my mom and this really got me today.”
I stopped thinking about being a good writer after that. I thought instead, “what if I had deleted my stories and that one person three years later hadn’t read it that day?”
Here’s what I realized: no one is a good writer.
Good means to be approved of, but stories aren’t created from approval. They’re built from life experiences, feelings, and emotions Therefore, the impact of anyone’s story isn’t good or bad. It’s a million other things.
Heartfelt.
Sad.
Funny.
Inspiring.
Romantic.
So to all the story writers out there, hold your head up, write what is in your heart, and never doubt that there isn’t at least one person out there that needs to read your story.
So, no.
We’re not good writers, but why would we want to be?
