if you’re a (mostly) bald cartoon dude you have to wear this color scheme
#you forgot aang (michymouses28)
FUCK ur right
what is this weird trope..the color coded bald dude cult
IT’S HAPPENING
IT GOT BETTER
Just realized
Actually, there’s a reason for this. The human brain interprets round shapes as friendly, and the color yellow is associated with happiness and energy. So this design basically reads, “I’m a happy friend!” Its basically the most non threatening design you can have, which makes sense, even for Krillin and Saitama.
there’s not enough round or yellow in this world to convey eddie as non threatening

Me: I need a library card, but I just moved so I don’t have an ID with my address or any mail with it.
Librarian: -slides me a blank library postcard- Write your address on this like it would be mailed to you.
Me: Sure?
Librarian: -takes it back- Great! Now we have mail with your address on it!
Me: …does it really work that way?
Librarian: the rules don’t say it DOESN’T work that way. Here’s your new library card!
Librarians are the most dangerous magic users because they can aquire infinite knowlege

yo treasure planet was literally the best 2d disney film ever made like the setting? the colors? the flawless transition? the gorgeous world building? the three dimensional characters? a main character who’s never pressured to get into anything remotely close to romance? complex relationships? an antagonist who has layers to his character? the soundtrack? i could go the FUCK on,
PLUS THIS SCENE?
AND THIS????
it went beyond being another retelling of treasure island in the book jims father was still present, this movie ADDED depth by turning silver into an adoptive father figure instead of just a surprise twist villain, thus adding far more weight to all subsequent interactions with him

this morning NASA abandoned their mars rover Opportunity (aka Oppy) because it (she) got hit by a storm on Mars and it knocked her camera and wheels out and her last words to the team were “my battery is low and it is getting cold”. I know she’s a machine but I’m devastated. Oppy is the one who discovered water on Mars. RIP oppy ily space baby
they didn’t abandon her!! they tried eight months to reach her!!!! as their last farewell to her yesterday they played her “I’ll be seeing you” by Billie Holiday:
“I’ll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I’ll be looking at the moon
But I’ll be seeing you”
They love her so much and they tried so hard!!!
Oh man, It doesn’t end there.
This isn’t the first song NASA sent Opportunity. They had a playlist:
https://www.space.com/41434-mars-rover-opportunity-wakeup-music-playlist.html?fbclid=IwAR3uL6q4tOmLQTIEhiwYegGc99nv4N01HQKItpCLQiQYIptBOevNN6uIyT8
It’s on Spotify, it’s called “Opportunity, wake up!“
This is what’s great about NASA and it’s what’s great about people. These are world-class engineers. When they sent a rover to another planet they could have easily looked at it as just another scientific tool. But people don’t do that. We can and will get emotionally attached to the most inanimate of objects. We can and will anthropomorphize anything. And frankly Opportunity’s camera mast looks like a little face with eyes and everything, so why not?
So they started calling it her.
They nicknamed her Oppy.
They told her to take a selfie not long ago.
After 15 years of Oppy flipping the double bird to her original 90 day life expectancy, when a planet-spanning dust storm finally knocked her out and she stopped responding to the engineer’s wake-up messages, they started playing music for her.
And after 8 months and almost 1000 unanswered wake-up messages, when it was finally clear that Oppy was never going to wake up, the last thing these world-class NASA engineers did for their little rover on another planet
Was play her a love song

Blizzard laid off 775 people even though they reported record results in 2018. I had an argument with someone who claimed that that is crazy and Blizzard is going down, but I didn't have enough arguments that it's not that unusual. Help me out?
I’ve seen a lot of talk about this lately. The first thing I want to say is that it’s a terrible situation for everyone involved. [My inbox is always open for anyone who has lost a job and needs some assistance]. I can help with design reviews, code reviews, resume reviews, cover letter reviews, or general coping with job loss advice if you need it. I’ve been through it myself (including an Activision-Blizzard layoff in the past), so I know where you’re coming from. I will help however I can.
For the rest of you, here’s a quick summary of the events that transpired and why.
Activision-Blizzard (stock symbol: ATVI) is a company that is comprised of three major parts - Activision (Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot), Blizzard (Overwatch, Hearthstone), and King (Candy Crush). ATVI released their year-end earnings report for fiscal 2018 and provided guidance/predictions for fiscal 2019. In the earnings report was both good news and bad news.
The good news was that 2018 was a banner year. Thanks to successful releases on multiple platforms, ATVI was able to break their records and beat their previous projections. They made more than they predicted. It was a really good year. Investors are going to get paid a larger dividend and ATVI is going to buy back $1.5 billion worth of stock.
The bad news is that 2019 is projected to be significantly weaker than 2018 (2019 is projected to be ~13% below 2018). This translates to a prediction of earning around $100 million less in 2019 than 2018. This is primarily due to the fact that Blizzard does not have a major release in the works planned for 2019 like they had in 2018 with Battle for Azeroth. No big release from Blizzard in 2019 means significantly less money earned in 2019.
ATVI is taking steps to mitigate this predicted shortfall pre-emptively by cutting their costs. This always means layoffs. Tech companies don’t have a lot of costs other than what it takes to pay and supply people to do work for them. We can’t make our manufacturing much cheaper. ATVI has primarily and specifically targeted non-development positions for layoffs, with the heaviest of them focused on Blizzard but also cutting from the Activision and King divisions. Non-development in this context means jobs like esports coordinator, community manager, customer service rep, and so on. ATVI said their plan going forward is focusing more money into development and less into other stuff like esports, presumably because these endeavors haven’t really paid off for them and are not looking better in 2019.
Look, the whole situation sucks. I don’t think anybody is going to say it doesn’t. My heart goes out to all those people who lost their jobs and I hope they all find something soon. I hope their severance packages are generous. I hope I can help some of them in any way that I can. I hope this explanation clears some things up about the situation. I’ve seen quite a few “hot takes” over the past 18 hours that skip over a lot of the context of this situation. It’s not as cut and dry as the “evil executive laughs while ruining peoples’ lives”, but the truth rarely is.
PS. Please do not bring up Satoru Iwata. Japan has a completely different working culture, including tremendous social pressure to work yourself to the point of failing health and/or death. Yes, their employees get significantly more job security. There are also so many Japanese devs that have failing health because of this work culture. They pay for it in other ways.
