A what if where Goku and Chichi are about to tie the knot but their wedding suddenly is interrupted by the fire and need to go and fix the furnace!
the thing about chichi teaching goten to fight but insisting on gohan focusing on his studies is that i don't think it's just a black and white case of "going easy on the second child" i think that if none of the world-ending shit had happened, chichi would've allowed goku to teach gohan when he got older. gohan is 3 or 4 (WHATEVER) at the beginning of the series okay i don't think it's unreasonable at all for her to be like Goku Our Literal Toddler Is Not Going To Fight Anything. Let Him Grow More First. but then all that world-ending shit did happen and her toddler was ripped away from her multiple times and kept coming back different every time and i think her pushing for him to focus on academia wasn't just because she wants him to have a good future or because she knows that he generally prefers academia to fighting (though these do absolutely factor in). i sort of theorize (and i'm straying into "musing" territory here) it's because by pushing him to study he becomes something closer to the little boy she lost. he becomes someone she recognizes and knows how to deal with instead of the child soldier who holds more power than she or anyone else knows what to do with.
and like i think this sort of mentality would've first sparked when she picked gohan up after the fight with vegeta and nappa and he was no longer reacting like he would've the last time she saw him (she says that he's safe now that he's with her but he already knows that she can't protect him from anything. he's stronger than her) and it was REALLY cemented when he yelled at her to shut up in the hospital. something that her sweet and shy little boy absolutely never would've done before. her son was back with her but she didn't know him at all and i do think that her being against him fighting is a part of her trying to pack all the wildness he picked up when piccolo kidnapped him into a box so he looks like her son again. and i don't think she's evil or anything for doing this i think she's a mother grieving her child who's doing her best. especially given that he keeps being sent out on the battlefield to suffer. she's only human. and part of the reason she's so lax with goten and even trains him herself is because he was never taken away from herâshe never had to grieve him. there was the whole mess with buu but he never left her to become someone unrecognizable like gohan did. she raised him from start to finish in a time of peace. i REALLY think she would've helped goku train gohan when he got older if gohan had only grown up in a time of peace as well.
Drew some Gohan after a while đ
PICCOLO STOP AURA FARMING WEâRE ALL GONNA DIE
Best part of this is how the whole time while piccoloâs flying towards where Gohan is heâs in his head like âDONT DIE GOHAN IM COMING IM ON MY WAY TO RESCUE YOU IM NOT GONNA LET ANYONE TOUCH YOU KIDâ and then when he actually gets there heâs like [acting nonchalant] Good To See You Gohan [nonchalantly]
trying to just do more warmup drawings and been watching a bunch of dbz movies :)
What are your opinions on the other fusions?
The storyboard given to the animators really goes barebones with the intentions (as they should) but Vegeta's angry gremlin sketched face is KILLING ME.
Also Trunks' little ^v^ face and antennae to Vegeta's >:c scrunch... so cute

Cell gets a visitor⊠đ
This didn't need to be a "Gohan recruits Cell for the Tournament of Power" comic (it could really work with any plot) but it was a convenient excuse
I was trying to think of what would be a good hell for Cell and I figured chained up in a boring ass cell (ba dum TSS get it?? hell has a sense of humour) with no one to compare his strength with and nothing to feed his boredom would do it
EDIT: someone on Twitter interpreted this as Cell sitting on a throne of the rubble from the Cell Games tournament ring and I totally fuck with that, that's awesome, it's official that's what he's sitting on đ
@thepythakorean the Meme as promised hdjdjdk
task failed successfully
try killing me once? now you're stuck with my family. forever. loser.

I think one rleationship that doesnât get talked about a lot in the fandom is the one between Krillin and Piccolo. Now granted, most of it is a lot more subtle and in the background (and a majority confined to the anime) compared to Piccolo and Gohanâs bond or the Goku & Vegeta rivalry, but its there.
They have a unique friendship and understanding which fascinates me to no end. They started as hostile opponents in the 23rd tournaments, with Piccolo belittling Krillin constantly (likely due to his memories of Tambourine killing the guy). As the fight progresses, Piccolo even apologizes for calling Krillin a small fry and by the end of it its not Yamcha, or Tenshinhan or even Goku who makes Piccolo rethink on how easy the world is to conquer, but Krillin. And the little guy seemed to take to teaming up with the demon pretty well. They bantered and planned and worked well with each other during the Saiyan invasion. Krillin was specifically pointed out in both manga and anime to being shocked and surprised at Piccoloâs sacrifice for Gohan.
Then you have his general support of Piccolo on Namek and their perfect cohesion durin the Garlick Jr arc.
And of course the infamous âCome on, weâre friends, right?â moment during the Cell arc. It led to Piccolo exploding in rage and exclaiming he was still Piccolo Daimao and biding his time to take over the world and âRAWR GRR EVILâ before flying off.
And Krillin didnât buy it for a second. He read the guy instantly. Then you had Piccolo taking charge of the situation when the Cell Juniors attacked. While the manga doesnât show Piccolo at all during that segment, the anime ran with it and going out of his way to smack a Cell Jr. away from Krillin. Krillin screamed after Piccolo when he charged in to help Gohan during the Kamehameha struggle against Cell.
Then you had cute moments like Krillin praying he doesnât get paired up against Goku or Vegeta during the tournament only for Piccolo to grin and remind him that heâs technically praying to Dende or Krillin cheering Piccolo on before his âfightâ against Kaioshin (which Iâm totally still not bitter over). Or when they both have to stop each other from going in to try and help Vegeta when he self destructs and Piccolo asking Krillin for assistance in showing the kids the fusion dance again.
I justâŠI dunno, I find their interactions and subtle friendship really endearing and fascinating, especially since you wouldnât really expect them to have one.
things i think about a lot
Whenever people bring up the "can X character beat Goku?" hypothetical, it always revolves around modern DB power, like SSJ4 and Ultra Instinct, which makes sense since theyre the recent top tier power levels in a shonen sense. but the fact is, Goku aint been at his A-game since OG DB. Since like, you gotta remember, Dragonball started as another Toriyama gag manga, similar to Dr Slump.
Goku is a gag character who transitioned to a shonen fighter since fighting was more fun.
THAT is terrifying. Goku can still apply to gag manga rules if he wants to. Bullets have no effect on him, but he will scream in agony if you hit him with a small rock.
Goku is like an anime Hannah Montana, best of both worlds, a jack of all trades. He can be a cheery funny gag character when he wants, and a serious fighting protagonist when he wants. Like, one of his most famous fighting styles is biting people. He bites Frieza, he bites Buu, he bites Beerus, he bites Whis.
Goku is one of the strongest fighters in all of anime, he can take the punch of a God, or all the condensed evil in hell and not even flinch, but his wife Chi Chi, Bulma and Arale can whoop his ass because its funny.
Basically the answer to any "can X character beat Goku?" revolves around the answer "would it be funny?"
Thanos from MCU? There's nothing funny there at all, Thanos loses.
SpongeBob? Incredibly funny, SpongeBob would blow a bubble that looks like a bus at Goku and he'd be launched back past the horizon and you'd see a nuclear explosion happen.
And like the most stereotypical ones of Saitama and Luffy, thats like a draw, they all have the half and half of shonen and funny. They beat the shit out of eachother and then the next scene is them bandaged and bruised in an Applebee's chowing down on endless appetizers together, then immediately back to fighting.
The most common misconception of something that you like that really irks you?
Her name is not Bulma Briefs
For those in the comments confused: in Dragon Ball itâs considered incredibly rare and old fashioned to have a last name. The only characters with confirmed last names are the Son family (Son Goku, Son Gohan, Son Goten), something Videl comments on as being weird when she meets Gohan.
Bulmaâs name is just Bulma. When they were localizing it and making changes for the dub, they assumed that her last name must be Briefs because her fatherâs name is Dr. Briefs. But thatâs not how the rules of the world work. Briefs is simply his name and he is a doctor. Bulma is simply her name.
So is Videl âVidelâ, or Videl Satan, or Videl Son?
Mr.Satan is just a stage-name like 'The Rock' it's not a surname either, so she'd either be just Videl or Son Videl if she takes Gohan's surname via marriage yeah
"Mr. Satan" just sounds a lot more intimidating than " Mark".
Also technically, It's specifically Maaku rather than Mark. Because it's an anagram of Akuma, like with Videl / Devil.
