I'm so fascinated by how Kamome Shirahama renders brushbuddies with such dense plush fur that I wanted to have a go at it, because you can tell in every single panel exactly how their bodies and fur patterning works, with relatively minimal brushstrokes and lineart on them. Extremely effective art. Highly evocative little guys. Go read Witch Hat Atelier to see more little guys and also experience shrimp emotions over the story itself.

Yuri of the Month: Dear Flowers that Bloom in the Days of Yore (拝啓、在りし日に咲く花たちへ) by Jun Igarashi

After finding a strange letter in a library book, a high school student begins a mutual "Class S" roleplay with a mysterious penpal, and tries to trace the origin of a generational mystery.

Earnest, vulnerable, romantic--intensely romantic, willing to be, in a way that makes one embarrassed. A story about winding through time, meeting your forebears, learning of their mistakes, their violence, their tragedies. I don't want to say any more, besides that I have read it three times, at one point said "jesus christ" out loud alone in my apartment, and sort of feel like I need to lay on the floor. Dear Flowers that Bloom in the Days of Yore is a love letter about love letters, and I'm writing it in as my yuri rec for April 2026.
