This is my longfic - set around 6 months after the events of the game. Friends to lovers, with pining, angst and a bunch of vampire spawn citybuilding in the Underdark...

It's been almost 6 months since they defeated the Elderbrain. Everybody seems to have found a purpose in life. Except Maeva. Should she stay with Halsin and become a 'mummy' to the refugees (something that frankly terrifies her) or leave and find her own adventure? Maybe with her best friend Astarion, down in the Underdark...
'Do you regret it now? Not ascending?'
'Regret not becoming the most powerful vampire in existence? Absolutely.' Astarion chuckled.
'You'd have been insufferable.'
'Maybe, but I would also have been fabulous. Can you imagine?'
'Only too well.'

Chapter 8: 'Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss'
Summary: While Morena's boyfriend Kyle is away training secretly with the Harpers, she enjoys her last year of university life, and embraces her own identity.
Writer's Note: Time we find out why Kyle is 'The Asshole.' I literally had so much fun writing this chapter. I hope you are all standing up cheering Morena like I did!

gale x minthara is a ship i never considered but is actually so interesting tell me more
I have a few reasons, ranging from canon-grounded to more self-indulgent as it goes. I mean, as with most ships, my primary reason is āwhy not?ā but Iāve got others.
For one, theyāve got a very fun little dynamic going on when you grab minthara in act 2. minthara says 1) she isnāt particularly fond of wizards, 2) doesnāt make friends with people liable to get themselves killed easily, so 3) is not going to make nice with the stupid wizard who is also A Bomb. meanwhile, galeās first thought is that obviously sheāll be his friend if he is nice to her and that somewhere deep down, sheās probably got a heart of gold in there. he is astonishingly wrong about that, at least insofar as hoping she has one that beats for the greater good or basic morality. if minthara has a heart of gold, i think itās a dragonās heart, that bids her curl her claws around her hoard and defend it from any who would take it from herābecause so much of what was hers has already been taken away.
And obviously, youāve got classics like Minthara telling him he āhas the air of a third-born song about himā (<- third-born drow sons are usually killed by their mothers lmao) which gale anticipated with ā:( youāre going to say something awful, arenāt you?ā which is so mean and so funny to me. can i be so real with you. i think this is mintharaās version of pulling someoneās pigtails, laden under weird drow gender beliefs and her own. well, the Everything about her. she is bullying him because she likessss him!
the question of godhood is a big one they have in common. Galeās pursuit of the crown versus Mintharaās pursuit of control over the absolute. these are based both in ambition, yes, but also in a sense of powerlessness in the face of what theyāre chasing. Minthara was tortured, denigrated, mind-controlled, discarded by Orin and the Absolute cult. Gale will tell you on that boat ride he makes for you that part of his reason for wanting the powers of the gods for himself is that the gods treat people like toys, pawns, playthings. his lover just told him to kill himself. itās personal. and so I think you could make a very strong argument that by crown or by brain, one of them could convince the other to stand with them and take their godhood by their side, and that support would be unwaveringly strong.
Minthara fun fact of the day! did you know you can get a hug from her if you play as Origin Gale? In the epilogue party, and only if you didnāt romance her, I believe, and it doesnāt matter what ending you pursued for him yourself. Minthara will hug that wizard. Sheās fond of him, despite herself, and thatās so charming to me in the face of how adamant she was about not even caring to get to know him. I like to imagine Gale approached her in a very similar way to how he approaches Act 1 Laeāzel, with genuine curiosity about culture and customs alien to him and important to her. Minthara, of course, responding in a far more acerbic way that would probably drive off anyone else, but this is a very determined wizard weāre talking about. So heās going to wince and grit his teeth and hiss his way through uncomfortable subjects, but heās also going to hang onto every beautiful description of her lost home, memorize drow words that slip into her speech so he might learn her language, study the history of her that she lays out before him in snippets and secrets until he feels better equipped to understand her. ah, thereās the key to it. I think Gale would make a real effort to understand her, and that Minthara would feelā¦ respected? flattered? intrigued by his willingness to do so. And thatās how a stupid wizard who made himself into a bomb worms his way into her heart.
Finally, the most obvious reason is that Gale belongs on his knees and I think Minthara is very hot and should put him there. Look, the man is clearly very used to listening to the women in his lifeāraised by a single mom, his lifelong companion is a female tressym who bullies him, his lover was a goddess who clearly mixed up love and worship in his head. So if anyone in this little gang is going to hear Minthara command them to bow to the floor before her and actually do it, itās going to be Gale. Heād look very fine as the pretty pet of a Drow matriarch, and they both know it. Or, I know it, which is far more important. also like. come on. heās got to start putting that talented mouth to use somewhere, and what better place than mintharaās dick-
What was that tavstarion fic where Astarion doesn't meet Tav on the beach and finds himself leader of the tadfools, with visions of multiple timelines where he's romanced by different Tavs? About how the author played with the concept of him being aware of the player romancing so many times?
