The difference between Gaza and Auschwitz is that the world still has a chance to stop the ethnic cleansing in Gaza. What’s happening here is not just a war—it’s a deliberate effort to starve an entire population. We are not only dying from bombs, but from hunger, thirst, and despair. Life is being stolen from the mouths of our children every single day.

The siege surrounds us from all directions. Food and medicine are blocked. The crossings have been closed for months. What little aid enters is barely enough for 1% of the population. Imagine paying $40 for a single kilo of flour, or needing over $300 to feed a small family for just one day. With no jobs, no open markets, and no safety—how are we supposed to survive?

Today, a beautiful cat and her kittens died from hunger. They were innocent, fragile lives—and they perished simply because there was nothing left to eat. What kind of injustice allows even the weakest, most defenseless creatures to suffer this way? This is the reality we live with every single day.

Please, don’t turn away. Your support, no matter how small, can be the reason someone wakes up tomorrow with food, with hope, with life. A single donation can mean survival for a family, for a child, for a soul still holding on. In Gaza, even the smallest act of kindness can save a life.

Go onto incognito mode and start a fresh account ok the social media website of your choice. When it asks you about your interests, pick "health and wellness" and/or the religion of your choice and fill the rest in with whatever you like. See how long it takes the algorithm to give you straight up cult recruitment videos.

When I tried this on TikTok I got some in under 30 seconds.

this is important information but i also feel like a lot of people aren’t really able to identify cult-produced media on their own. here is a (non comprehensive) list of red flags for this:

presenting an image of a wholesome, good, unified in-group while simultaneously presenting the out-group as shameful, dirty, or evil

presenting the narrative “i would be dead if i didn’t join X”

bragging about adhering to high-control rules, such as restriction of sleeping, eating, or ability to leave

heavy emphasis placed on “retreats,” aka trauma bonding or brainwashing members en masse in a secluded area

spiritual leader (typically a living person, or often in the case of older cults, a board of directors) presented as an infalliable extension of god

“comfort zones” and similar concepts presented as an inherently bad thing that you need to overcome

constant recruitment efforts

public faces of the organization are typically extremely extroverted and physically abled, and there’s a spoken or unspoken shame placed on the group members who don’t resemble this

there is an ex-member community that insists the group should be acknowledged as a cult (search for “ex-[group name]” or “[group name] abuse” to find relevant online pages)

I don’t understand why cis people fail to see all the little ways we affirm our gender every day and fail to extrapolate how much more intense it is for trans people.

Humans Are Weird

So there has been a bit of “what if humans were the weird ones?” going around tumblr at the moment and Earth Day got me thinking. Earth is a wonky place, the axis tilts, the orbit wobbles, and the ground spews molten rock for goodness sakes. What if what makes humans weird is just our capacity to survive? What if all the other life bearing planets are these mild, Mediterranean climates with no seasons, no tectonic plates, and no intense weather? 

What if several species (including humans) land on a world and the humans are all “SCORE! Earth like world! Let’s get exploring before we get out competed!” And the planet starts offing the other aliens right and left, electric storms, hypothermia, tornadoes and the humans are just … there… counting seconds between flashes, having snowball fights, and just surviving.

Being from Alaska, this was sort of how I felt going to college in the lower 48′s and learned that no one else had been put through a literal survival camp as a regular part of their school curriculum, including but not limited to:

1. Learning to recognize all forms of animal tracks in the wild so you can avoid bears and moose and search out rabbits and other small animals to eat.

2. Extensive swimming and climbing on glacial pieces with competitions to see who could last the longest, followed by a group sit in the sauna so we wouldn’t get hypothermia (no, not kidding, I really did this many times as a kid!)

3. How to navigate using the stars to get back to civilization.

4. How to select the right type of moss from the trees to start a fire with damp wood (because, y’know, you’re in a field of snow. Nothing is dry.)

5. How to carve out a small igloo-like space to sleep in the snow to preserve body heat and reduce the windchill so you won’t freeze to death in the arctic.

Eventually, it occurs to someone that humans are the perfect terraforming shock troops, as it were. They think it’s fun to be sent to horrible planets! They’re really good at surviving and then taming them! All you have to do is sit back and wait until the planet is habitable, and then move there yourself! It’s genius.

It only takes one try before the reality of the situation sets in: human definitions of ‘taming’ and ‘habitable’ are woefully incomplete.

“Why did you not eliminate the venomous plant life?” Grahssk’ti moans, clutching one limb.

“Those?” The human laughs. “Why bother? They’re not that bad. And they eat the mosquitoes.”

Grahssk’ti shudders. The ‘mosquitoes’ are… not to be mentioned. Just one swarm of them caused a landing shuttle to crash three planetary daylights ago.

“And the acid storms? Why did you not warn us of them?”

“I mean, they’re annoying,” the human says, shrugging, “but we figured the cool sunsets made up for it.”

Grahssk’ti flails helplessly. “What about the ten-meter tall Fanged Death Bringers? They can eliminate an entire settlement in under an hour!”

“They’re so cute!” the human says, brightening. “Have you met mine? Her name is Spot!”

Humans are told of some planet or region of space that is considered “completely and utterly inhospitable - it would be folly to try and settle there.”

Without fail, a decent number make it a point to settle there because “Fuck You That’s Why.” It doesn’t matter how uneconomical it is, how difficult the conditions are, how utterly ridiculous it may seem, there will be at least one human who will attempt to do it only because someone else regardless of species says it is improbable or WORSE impossible. 

“This moon is still forming as such it is primarily soft - by that I mean most of the magma is close to the surface and-” ‘OH BADASS you mean its like Mustafar right!?!?!?! I’m totally going to build a castle there.’ “What. I mean. There is NO fertile ground there whatsoever. No ecosystem. Getting an IUD inserted, especially when you've never given birth, is absolutely excruciating. It only takes a few minutes, but it feels like forever. I don't recall my GYN using any softening/pain relief things on my cervix, but if that's an option, for the love of all that's holy I want any IUD user to have it.

some advice about dishes for those who weren’t taught:

make sure to wring your sponge out when you’re done using it!! If you leave it full of water it will get stinky

do not use metal utensils on nonstick surfaces! if you do, the nonstick will start to flake off into your food and the now-exposed metal underneath with begin to rust

I know it’s fun to feel like a blacksmith, but don’t rinse your hot pan under cold water to make it crackle and steam! The sudden change in temperature can cause it to warp, which may lead to uneven cooking later on

you don’t need that much dish soap

seriously just fill a basin (I usually use the largest pot/bowl/cup of whatever dishes I’m washing) with hot water and a PEPPERCORN sized drop of soap, and use that soapy water for the rest of your dishes, and then clean the basin last. You’ll save a lot more soap + water that way instead of dispensing soap directly onto a sponge every single time
