As of playing the new G&B update for a few days, I have my thoughts the update and I will be ranking the Maps and the items in the game and give my opinions about it. (I'm not a pro doing this but I like to say what I think about it)
Moss Ironworks is the latest objective map in G&B and it's a good one. In this map, We finally have Sweden again after being stuck in 1 map which is Leipzig and regiments that speaks another language in the Nation Denmark which are the Norwegians and their job is to reach to the Ironworks, Located across the river and to forge swivel guns while fighting the undead cannibals and escaping via raft by the river since the bridge that was suppose to get you out collapsed.
Completing the map in one life gives you the "Forged In Fire" Achievement
There is also another achievement where you need to die via the recoil of the canon before destroying the gate called "Counter-Battery fire"
Lastly, we finally have another NPC which is the
Moss Ironworker
AN NPC THAT DIDN'T DIE WHEN RESCUE ARRIVES (I'm not including Crawford and Wellington since their fate is either unknown or it depends on the player's actions) and that he's also the one operating the raft for us to escape.
My complaints about this map is the chandelier section because too many shamblers and special infected spawn there, making it difficult to get the chandelier, so I suggest to leaving a few men behind to grab the chandelier later.
The other complaint I have is the forging of the Swivel gun since forging them is a requirement or else the objective won't progress. Sad it isn't optional since the Ironworker says "they don't need raw materials anymore" but hey, we get bonus francs if some players decide to forge the swivel guns and grab them for bonus francs.
Bonus: WE HAVE THE JUTLAND REFERENCE VIA THE CHURCH.
2. Trafalgar house (Holdout)- 9/10
Trafalgar house is the 3rd holdout map in G&B. You play as the British army and your Job is to defend the Manor at Trafalgar park where the cannibals will randomly attack a random zone in the Manor (Note: at wave 1 they always attack the main wing) and Sappers and Lancers are a must in this map since you can barricade the door ways and windows. You're Goal is to survive until wave 6
The Main First Floor- This is where all of you will spawn and respawn after every wave, it has all the things you need, supplies and canon ammunition and a playable Piano on the right.
This Part is a MUST to defend because this is where most of the cannibals will appear via the window.
The Kitchen- This is actually one of my favorite part of the house since it they only come out on the left side of the window and 2 rooms from the right, it's very easy to manage and a nice reference to 28 days later.
South wing- I like this zone, since they only come through the Center window, Although there will be zombies coming from secret room (the secret room is in on the left via the doorknob). This is a very easy zone for people who main seaman.
North Wing- Screw the North Wing, This zone is hard out of all of the other zones since they come from the North, East, and South creating 3 chokepoints on different parts of the North wing.
Just pray to god you don't have to defend the north wing at wave 6, that place is god damn hell if you have to defend this zone at wave 6 since they pulling up all the stops.
After Surviving 6 waves a huge horde of Runners will appear but Luckily Help arrived just in time to save you
(Idk why they like Burning the Officer)
After that the maps done.
This map is one of the shortest holdout maps in G&B (if your team is good) since if you have some sappers, pikemen, and seamen, you're good.
Surviving all 6 rounds will give you the achievement "Dead of Night"
There is also another achievement called "Everyman's Duty" where you have to survive the entire map of Trafalgar house without losing a point (Don't worry, dying will still give you the achievement as long as you don't lose a single zone
Gaining this badge will give you 2 free cosmetics called "Survivor's shave"
and the "Wiltshire Gentleman"
This is my favorite holdout map out of the 3 and probably compensation after the cancellation of Jutland Defense (That map was first shown on the Roscoff playtest in 2024 and went through many redesigns until it got canned due to not making sense) and it is also a good reference to 2 zombie media which are 28 days later and No more room in hell. The 28 days later reference is the house itself where it's the soldier's base throughout the movie
The No more room in hell reference are the survival maps where the survivors have to survive 10 waves and defending the safe zones before rescue arrives. I like the Trafalgar house map since the rooms have details inside of them and the house is really big making me want to explore the map more and a satisfying ending to the map where people actually came back for them after the hell the soldier's have been through. I also like to think that the start of the holdout of Trafalgar house starts a 12 am and ends at 6 am like it's a night shift from FNAF.
Trafalgar House (Endless)- 2/10
This map is not really good as an endless map since finding the horde is like playing hide and seek. It also has barely any space to evade them.
Oh and they be doing this in some servers I'm in.
It's good as a holdout map but not an endless map in my opinion. I see this map as either an AU where no one came back for them or a prequel to the events of the holdout mode.
Flask of Hospitality- 7/10
Cost: 35 Francs
The Flask of Hospitality is the latest consumable utility for the Surgeon class giving your teammates the following
- Regenerates 25% of their health back
- Boost the walk speed by 15%
-Melee swing speed increased by 10%
- Damage resistance to Shambler by 15%
- Damage resistance to Zapper by 10%
- Damage resistance to bomber explosion by 5%
(Note: The damage resistance can be stacked/paired with the overwhelming courage buff)
It's a really good utility to give your teammates who are still in the green to green-yellow health state, it gives them small health boost. I'd like to compare the Flask of Hospitality to the Pain pills from Left 4 Dead 2 where it gives the survivors a temporary health boost.
This section is for the minor things added to the game and what are my thoughts about them and I'm not covering all of them since damn, that is alot. (This part will not have any pictures because apparently I reached the max limit of photos)
>Zombie Idle Animations- A great addition to add in the game and it makes them do something while a player isn't nearby them and not just standing around doing nothing, they're like the infected from Left 4 Dead 2 and the bonus is that they won't attack unless you either:
- Fire a gun
- Be near them
- Kill an infected
>Tar bottle on the hand mortar- A good addition for the hand mortar and it can now be equivalent to a shotgun with Incendiary rounds where it burns and slowly ticks down the Infecteds health overtime and can help let your teammates kill the infected easily.
>Grenade Buff- This buff makes the grenade more useful for crowd control since it's blast radius and damage have now been increased. It finally makes the grenade more useful for crowd control.
>Seaman throwable increase- The seaman can carry 5 grenades/tar bottles now and I love it since it now emphasizes that the seaman is a crowd control class due to it carrying 2 more throwables than the other classes.
>Regiments- There are new regiments now for France, Denmark, Prussia, and Sweden, some of which are free and they also revamped the Danish Regiments, I may not afford the regiment packs but I love the look of the Navy regiment from Denmark, they look drippy as hell (and a cool hat).
In the End the new G&B update is a good one, love the 2 new maps (Except for Trafalgar House Endless) and the utility items and hopefully in the next update we get the Catacombes of Paris Remake since it was teased a very long time ago. See you next time when I make another G&B Review, Bye and Enjoy the update :)
