tuesday, september 30th. 11:40 pm.
“what the hell are you doing?” ellie stands behind you while you scroll through abby’s instagram, which was annoyingly empty, to look for a clearer picture of her hand. “I’m trying to see if I’m right,” you huff, sifting through her three highlights and swiping through the few posts she had up. “ugh, four of these are from 2016; the rest don’t show her hand properly!”
ellie only sighs, her hands on her hips as you slump down into the couch, accepting defeat. “did you check her facebook?” she pinches the bridge of her nose, seemingly pissed at herself for feeding into your shenanigans. you pause, sitting up and grabbing your phone again. “I’m sorry, what is the purpose of this, y/n?” ellie leans forward to look at your phone, watching you scroll through abby’s facebook photos.
“I think the woman I ran into at the supermarket was abby’s wife.” you keep scrolling and stop at a specific picture of her and a woman at a bar. but it wasn’t the woman you saw at the store, at least you didn’t think it was. the woman in the store was brunette yet in the photo she was blonde. but anyone could just dye their hair. you went to swipe out the photo to keep searching until you saw a tagged name.
juliette brooke.
juliette. abby said her wife’s name was juliette. still, you were skeptical, but all doubt faded once the cover photo appeared. it was a professionally shot family picture of her, abby, and audrey. bingo. abby was standing behind her with her hand on her shoulder, while juliette’s hands rested in her lap. she and abby weren’t smiling, except for audrey. without her, the photo would seem quite dull. "what a happy family," ellie laughs dryly. "probably why she wants my wife so bad." you turn your head sharply to look at her. "ellie! stop it!” you say, zooming in on her hands and noticing her pale pink nails shining alongside the same diamond ring you saw in the store.
“they look like they're being held at gunpoint.” you study the photo for a few more seconds before swiping out and setting your phone aside. "easiest detective work of my life," you yawn. ellie looks down at you for a moment, and silence falls in the room as she does. you gaze up at her, unsure if she’s admiring you or choosing to stay silent.
“what’s wrong?” you ask, placing your hand behind your head. “I don’t want you to get too drunk when you go out with abby, okay?” you snort. however, she frowns and sighs instead, “I’m serious. I still don’t trust her, and after seeing how unhappy she looks…” you sit up and peck her lips, brushing a loose hair behind her ear. “ellie, one picture doesn’t define their entire relationship. don’t worry.”
ellie smiles slightly at your reassurance, but you can tell it’s still bothering her. “I won’t drink too much. I’ll make sure to call a cab.” you give her one more kiss on the lips, her pretty green eyes staring back at you as you pull away. “I love you,” you smile, “I love you.” ellie reciprocates the look. the room falls silent again, but only momentarily, “okay, now help me get up. my legs fell asleep.” she giggles and comes around the couch to pull you up so you two can get upstairs to call it a night.
sunday, october 5th. 9:15 pm.
“celia, come here!” you can hear ellie shout from upstairs. you were already dressed and sitting in the living room, fixing the straps on your heels as you waited for the uber to arrive. “celia, baby, it’s time for bed!” you shout from downstairs. it felt weird going out after such a long time. you always used to go out and party in your early twenties, but now that you’re a mom and married, it feels awkward. just because you’re older and have a family doesn’t mean you can’t have fun now, right? it’s just having a drink with a friend anyway. no biggie.
“woah,” you turn around and see ellie walking towards you to get a better look at your outfit. “stand up for me?” you giggle, then stand up as she reaches for your hand and spins you around. “goddamn...how far is the cab?” she asks, wrapping an arm around your waist. “five minutes away, why?” you reply with a sly smile. “tell them to hurry because if you stay any longer, I’ll have to—” celia interrupts, “can you read me a bedtime story?” you both turn to look at her at the bottom of the stairs, holding a dr. seuss book. “that’s your cue...” you say, giving her a quick kiss. “I won’t be home late. there’s food in the fridge, and don’t let her trick you into reading another book. I’ll see you later!” ellie sighs as she releases you, visibly disappointed that you’re leaving her looking so good.
☆
you find yourself downtown, where nearly every corner is lined with bustling bars or glowing neon signs pointing to strip joints. the air is thick with the scent of alcohol and cannabis, and the crowds spilling out of clubs make you realize how much you’ve been missing out on. as you step inside club karma, you awkwardly scan the dimly lit room for abby. you weave through groups of strangers to reach the bar, spotting an empty stool near the edge of the brown wooden counter and settle onto it, a sudden pang of anxiety hitting you. it could’ve just been your nerves about embarrassing yourself after a few too many drinks, but deep down, you knew it was much more than that. as you’re deep in thought, a voice snaps you right back into reality: "hey!" turning to your right, you see abby. she slides into the seat next to you. “you look...good. have you gotten a drink yet?" abby says, being careful with her words.
you didn’t realize it at first, but she seemed very different from when you first met. it wasn't just her appearance; it was something in her demeanor that had shifted. but that wasn’t what truly caught your attention. it was that her hair was down and out of its usual braid. abby’s cologne smelled seductive, as if she was deliberately trying to lure and trap you. maybe you pretended not to notice how toned and muscular she was, but now you couldn’t ignore it. her snug, short-sleeved shirt clung to her body, accentuating her built arms and shoulders. everything about her seemed more relaxed and free. “no, I haven’t gotten anything yet. I was actually waiting for you,” you said softly, turning to face her. “you look better with your hair down; it suits you more.” abby didn’t say anything but gave you a look—one you couldn’t decipher.
“anyway,” abby waves at one of the bartenders. "hey nicole, can I get a vodka cranberry and a mojito? my tab, please.” nicole nods in acknowledgment and starts making the drinks. abby shifts her focus back to you, your eyes already locked on her. “you remembered?” you prop your chin up on your palm, watching as she titters nervously, her face subtly reddening. “that’s what friends are for, right?” abby then redirects her attention to nicole, suddenly intrigued by her making a simple mojito. “so, abby...who’s this?” nicole asks while placing your drink in front of you. “she’s a friend. got really sick of being in the house again, and I haven’t been here in a while.” abby exhaled and takes a swig of her drink. “juliette out of town again?” your ears almost perk up at the name. does this still count as eavesdropping if you’re only inches away?
“uh yeah...she just left again yesterday, actually. she’s been out of town a lot lately,” abby says, staring deeply into the cup as if she’s trying to make sense of something. you notice a shift in abby's demeanor at the mention of her wife—the way her shoulders tense momentarily and her voice drops into a melancholic tone. “y’know, abby, you never told me what your wife does for work,” you remark. “she’s an event planner,” she replies, then adds with a smirk, “although I’m starting to think she’s got a secret second job.” she laughs, trying to lighten to mood. nicole grins and chimes in, “I’m telling you, abby, that woman’s quite the trickster.” abby remains silent, taking another slow, deliberate sip from her cup. “enough with the wife talk. I came here to drink and not worry about her,” abby says, setting the cup down and looking at you.
“are you okay with whiskey?”
☆
after too many shots of whiskey and tequila, you and abby found yourselves absolutely hammered, laughing uncontrollably at everything around you. “for someone who claims to handle their liquor well, you're not doing a very good job at it!” you tease, resting your head lightly on her shoulder. the two of you were seated in an empty booth at the corner of the club, pink and purple lights flashing over both of you. “hey, don’t judge me—you were gone after like three shots," abby laughs along with you, finishing off another shot of whiskey. she gulps nervously before adding, “my wife would kill me if she saw how drunk I am right now,” her voice slightly slurred but coherent. “I think I ran into your wife the other day,” you say hesitantly, “I don't think she likes me very much.” abby clenches her jaw, falling awfully silent.
“after the failed play date, I finally mustered up the courage to tell her about you.” abby finally speaks up, “she got mad, went through my phone, and then she just...” she pauses, taking a deep breath before confiding, “I think my wife is cheating on me.” you lift your head from her shoulder, your eyes searching hers, “wait woah..what? do you have any proof?” you ask with genuine concern. she shakes her head slowly. “no, but her prolonged ‘work trips’ are making me suspicious. we haven't been happy for a long time, but I want to make it work for audrey’s sake.” she runs her fingers through her hair, setting the shot glass onto the battered wooden table with a clink. “fuck..” you can hear the unease in her voice as she abruptly stands up to make her way over to the bathroom at the far side of the club. you debate on following abby and eventually you got up to go comfort her.
you didn't anticipate the night unfolding like this, nor did you expect to get so drunk. you knew you weren’t supposed to drink that much, but you couldn’t help it. you were trying to keep up with abby and ended up biting off more than you could chew. all you knew was that right now, you needed to see that she had a friend in you. when you finally slipped into the bathroom, you found abby leaning on one of the sinks. “abby?” you call out, and she turns to look at you, her face etched with regret. “this whole drinking thing was...a mistake,” abby murmurs. you step closer, frowning despite your gentle tone. “don’t say that...we were having so much fun,” you reply, trying to comfort her. “you’re my friend, abby. you don’t need to be embarrassed.” she nodded quietly, a small smile flickering. “would’ve been better if we weren’t so drunk,” abby said with a laugh. you were laughing with her until you glanced up and really took her in.
abby was still leaned up against the sink, her tall, muscular frame making you question your self-respect in ways you never thought were possible. it felt wrong to be shamelessly checking her out, but god, she looked so good. the low, warm glow of the bathroom's dim lighting hit her face perfectly. it wasn’t just the light though. it was abby herself. by the time that you looked back up at her face, she was already staring at you, a certain grin spreading across her lips, as if she knew exactly what you were thinking.
“you’re staring,” abby moves closer to you, “your lipgloss is smudged, by the way. I’ll fix it.” she gently grabs your chin and slowly swipes her thumb over the side of your lip, her hand under your chin just a second too long. your eyes glance down at her lips, gulping hard at the tension that was building. your faces were just mere inches apart, and her hand had somehow found its way to your waist. you froze, feeling the conflict, knowing deep down that it was wrong—just as ellie had said all along. “abby, you’re drunk..” you put your hand on her chest to push her away. but she grabs your hand, her grip firm yet gentle. “so are you..but you’ve been staring at me the whole night.” she brings your hand up to her lips and presses a lingering kiss onto your knuckles. “I may be drunk, but I’m not crazy,” abby smirks at the look on your face, clearly amused by your hesitation. you couldn't do this to ellie though.
“I can't... this just isn't right,” you mutter, your voice filled with uncertainty, but abby remains undeterred, a subtle smile playing on her lips. “what she doesn't know won't hurt her,” she whispers, leaving a delicate trail of kisses from your knuckles up to your wrist. “your wife...you’d be just like her,” this causes abby to halt abruptly, her eyes narrowing slightly as she takes a sharp, measured breath before replying, “then we’d be equal.” abby seems to like your reluctance—either because she knows you'll give in or because she senses it's faux. you didn't stop her from kissing your hand nor did you move her hand away from your waist. “I don’t believe you…because you still have yet to move my hand off your waist..” she laughs, but you don't say anything. you could’ve pushed her off of you and walk out. you really could’ve..but what’s the fun in that?
you smile and abby snorts, “I knew it.” abby wasted no time in kissing you, sucking your bottom lip like she had been yearning for this. she quickly moved from your lips to your neck, her hand that was once on your waist moving all the way down to your hips, giving it a squeeze. “abby, someone is gonna walk in!” she gives you a big grin, “we better make this quick then, yeah?” and with that, you two switch places. abby had you pressed against the sink now, making you face the mirror as she bent you over. “your wife has no idea what to do with all of this..” she lands a heavy smack on your ass, making you jump. “fuck! abby!” you hiss, looking back at her with a frown. “you’ll forgive me in a minute.” abby lifts your dress up, scoffing in disbelief, “holy shit, look at how soaked you are..” she pulls your panties down, stooping down and spreading your lips before planting a few kisses on your clit. she gives your pussy a slow, deliberate lick, flicking her tongue over your clit as she swirls her tongue over your slick labia.
you tried to suppress your moans to avoid attracting attention to the bathroom, but it was almost impossible because abby ate pussy like a god. the sounds she was making while sloppily tongue fucking you was so vulgar, your hands gripping the sink while you struggled to hold yourself up. “legs already giving out? I haven’t even used my fingers yet.” she sneers, pushing two thick fingers into you without warning. “you took that soo easy..stay still for me.” she slowly slides her fingers in and out of you, groaning softly at how wet you are. it didn’t take long for abby to quicken her pace, which triggered a slew of curse words and moans leave your mouth, “oh fuck!yesyesyes!..” you felt yourself getting closer each time her fingers pumped in and out of you, “right there!” you moaned out, your brows furrowing completely. abby removes her fingers just as you say that, rubbing your clit and simultaneously swirling her tongue around your hole. “cmon pretty, cum for me..” she mumbles into your pussy, her voice making your eyes roll to the back of your head.
“ohmygod!” you yelp, releasing onto her tongue while your legs threaten to betray you. abby drew out your orgasm as much as she could, giving your slit a few more kisses and licks before standing up and helping you find your balance. “holy fuck..” you gasp, your head spinning as you clutch abby’s shoulder for support to stand. after you fixed your dress, you try to walk out of the bathroom, but abby, already wary from your stumble, gently steadies you, her eyes full of concern. “don't think you should be walking..” she whispers, swooping you up in one swift motion. when you two exited the bathroom, the club looked even more packed and you would’ve loved to stay if abby didn’t tell you to wrap it up.
abby walks back over to the bar, looking for nicole so the two of you can leave. “hey nikki, do you think you can call us a cab?” abby asks, glancing down at you, who looked like you were about to pass out from exhaustion. you had no idea what time it was, and you even lost count of how much you had to drink; however, your mind was elsewhere, thinking about the events that had just taken place in the bathroom. you weren't too bothered right now, more tired than anything. but if you were being honest, guilt was gnawing at you slowly, and you were gonna feel it harder the next morning.
monday, october 6th. 1:45 am.
abby carefully helps you out of the car, picks you up once again, and brings you to your doorstep. abby rings the doorbell, her face flushed red the moment ellie opens the door. “what the?- y/n, what the hell? how much did she drink?” ellie looks pissed, her mouth hanging open in disbelief at the sight of you. you could barely keep your eyes open, smiling lazily when you spot ellie. “okay, first of all, put my wife down! and second of all, what the fuck happened?” ellie was relieved that you were safe, but she was definitely not fond of the fact that abby was the one keeping you safe. to ellie, abby was a bad influence and trusting her was something she couldn't do. abby slowly brought you to your feet, handing ellie your belongings as she angrily stared her down. “too many shots, we drank the same amount so don't get the wrong idea.” abby sighed, understanding the frustration but not having the energy to deal with it right now.
“listen, I don't know what your deal is, but you need to back off of my wife,” ellie points an accusing finger at her, her jaw clenched and her brows furrowed. abby shakes her head. “relax. your wife is sweet, but all she’s really just a friend to me.” abby attempts reassure ellie but that only made her grit her teeth. “just because you and your wife aren't happy, doesn't mean that me and mine aren't. back off.” ellie grunts before leading you inside and slamming the door shut in abby’s face.
abby scoffs and walks back to the cab, getting in with a huff. “rough night?” the driver asks, glancing at her through the rear-view mirror as he slowly drives away. "yup," abby replies quietly, twisting the wedding ring around her finger. she begins to think about what ellie said, smirking slightly as she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a pair of black lace panties—your black lace panties. "rough night indeed," she smiles, shoving them back in her pocket as she leans back into the seat. ellie may have been right about one thing, but abby had already one-upped her without her even knowing.

It was the night of your anniversary when you met her. You were alone. Abby had made up some bullshit excuse as to why she forgot, how she’s so so so sorry, and she would make it up to you. To be honest, you didn't expect anything less from her. You figured Abby was either cheating on you for the past few years or just checked out of the relationship. And that was okay, as long as she came back home to you. As long as she was in your shared room at the end of the day, that was enough. But at some point, she’d stopped coming home to you. She’d be out until morning some nights, and you didn’t know what to feel. You tried to bring it up to Abby one day, but it only resulted in an argument you didn’t have the energy to endure. So you left it alone. You started to expect her home at an appropriate time less and less. While you wanted to leave and say fuck her you couldn’t. Because of your and Abby's status, you had to keep up appearances.
You wouldn't hear the end of it from your mom if you divorced her. Besides, Abby was the best thing that could ever happen to you. She’s the reason you landed that major role and fulfilled your dreams. So even if she comes home drunk off her ass with perfume that you know you’d never wear clinging to her like an annoying funky ass stench you dont question it. You ignore any blaring alarms ringing in your head. You continue being a good wife to the best of your abilities. You continue to keep up the picture-perfect appearance of your marriage.
The world believes it's the perfect relationship, and it will stay that way. You can't let anything crack the world's perception of you, you've worked too hard to be where you are now. Nothing will tarnish it.
But, everyone has their breaking point.
The night of your anniversary of a marriage doomed to crash and burn was the catalyst. You couldn't keep plastering that fake ass smile anymore. You couldn't keep acting like you weren't hurting. Like you weren't dying inside because of her. So you decided you needed to take back some of your agency. You thought it'd be the greatest idea to go out with your friends for a much-needed break from the failing marriage you were stuck in.
You went all out. Despite abby leaving you alone to go be with some fanned out bitch instead of you , you wouldn’t let that stop you from dusting out that dress that you knew would have all eyes on you. And you were right, no one could take their eyes off of you. It might've been because you were a celebrity, but you didn't care.
All you wanted to do was have a good time with your friends and forget about fucking Abby Anderson. Unfortunately, your friends didn't get the memo, you don't blame them though. Even they dont know about your problems. So when one of them asks “Why isnt Abby here with you? Isnt it your anniversary night?” you try your hardest not to snap at them. But your mood does drop tremendously, leaving you to respond with a half-hearted excuse of going to the bar to get more drinks. Trying to lift your mood after being reminded of your cheating ass wife, you ordered a vodka strong. You were stewing in your thoughts while you waited on your drink when you noticed her. She was staring. Hard. And like you know its because of your fame but something about the way she was looking drew you in immediately. You couldnt decipher what it was but it definitely got your attention and she noticed.
She raised her eyebrow at you with a smirk, her green eyes glinting in the flashing lights of the club as she looked you up and down. The way she held eye contact set you ablaze. She hadn't spoken a word, yet you knew she already had you right where she wanted you. “You know its rude to stare right?” you said after awhile of enduring her strong gaze on you. She did nothing but laugh at your remark, “I didnt know it was rude to appreciate a womans beauty..?” and that made you laugh. “Im sorry but that was so fucking corny” you wouldnt have guessed that was going to be the next words out of her mouth. “I know, that was so bad. Im usually better at this, but well..” she gestured at you with a small smile on her face. “I find that really hard to believe.. but I’ll let you make it.” you giggled in response. “Oh thank god. I thought i’d fucked everything up” she flicked her hand across her head in relief.
And from then on you talked for what felt like hours which lead to learning her name was ellie and then somehow you ended up with her number being saved in your phone? You don’t know how it got to this point but you weren’t complaining especially not when it led to you and ellie texting all the time. It doesn’t matter if you were busy studying lines for your upcoming role or spending another day alone because abby had something come up at work.
At first, you were just glad to have another friend. You’d made it clear when you first met you’d had a wife and unlike her, you weren’t a cheater. You were loyal to the T and Ellie was fine with just being friends, but somewhere along the way platonic feelings turned into romantic and one day you woke up one morning laying next to her naked and sore. You freaked the fuck out.
This wasn’t right. What would Abby think if she found out you disrespected your vows? This wasn’t like you, you would never step out on your marriage, and yet you couldn’t help but want more and that scared you. So you did the only thing you thought was best, you told ellie that you couldn’t ever do that again. She was rightfully understanding but you could note some frustration in the way she responded to you. Ellie was the only person you spoke to about your marriage situation. She thought you deserved better and told you as much, but you always brushed her off and changed the subject.
After that night, you try your very best to put some distance between you and Ellie. You start texting less, declining anytime she tries to ask you to come over and talk. You put more focus into your work and making sure Abby would never find out about what happened. Alas, you couldn’t avoid Ellie forever and you finally agreed to go over to her apartment.
You knew this was probably a bad decision but despite trying to tell yourself otherwise, you missed her. You missed her touch, the way she made love to you wouldn’t leave your mind. Therefore it didn’t come as a surprise when it happened again. No matter how many times you told yourself on the way to her place you wouldn’t have a repeat of what happened last time, the second she opened the door you were on each other.
“i can’t believe you tried to stay away from me.” ellie said between kisses and you whimpered in response.

series masterlist! - previous chapter ➝ chapter three
“I just got off the phone with abby,” you sigh, walking into the kitchen where ellie was sorting through bills that came in the mail, her back pressed up against the counter. “and?” ellie says, her eyes glued to the paper in her hands. “and...we talked it out and I forgive her. listen, I really wanna make this friend thing work. for me and celia.” you lean against the wall and wait for ellie’s response. still, she does nothing but give you an unimpressed look.
“it seems like to me you’re doing more for yourself and just using celia as a pawn,” she mumbles as she quickly goes back to sifting through the mail. “are you serious? ellie, this is a married woman of five years for crying out loud, what is your deal?”
“my deal? my deal is the fact you aren't heeding my fucking warning, y/n.” she slams the mail onto the counter, making you jump slightly. “ellie for the last time, this is a married wom–” ellie’s words cut through your own, “you’re also a married woman!” ellie shouts, her voice echoing through the kitchen. the entire house falls silent for a moment.
you push yourself off the wall and turn to leave the kitchen, “hope you got everything out, ellie. don’t forget to pick celia up tomorrow. don’t have her waiting.” you mutter and walk away, her body frozen in place as she processes her actions.
ellie pulls into the parking lot and puts the car in park with a sigh. she places her hands on her thighs, overthinking all of her words and decisions that led up to this point. “everything’s fine,” she says, trying to soothe her nerves. ellie gets out of the car and stands in front of the school just as the bell rings and a handful of kids begin to rush out. as she's searching for celia to run out, she sees a tall figure in her peripheral. she turns to her right, and there she is.
abby.
ellie doesn't approach her immediately. she hesitates, feeling intimidated, and a surge of jealousy rushes through her. ellie takes a deep breath. building up the courage to confront this woman who wanted her wife. just as ellie turned towards abby’s direction, she heard a familiar voice call out to her. “mommy!” celia runs up to her, wrapping her arms around her. “hey, honey..uh, give me a second and stay here. mommy has to take care of something,” ellie says, completely fixed on abby, who wasn’t even aware of her presence yet.
before she can even take a step forward, celia suddenly runs towards abby. “miss abby! audrey!” she shouts cheerfully. ellie can feel her eye twitch. abby looks down and smiles at the brown eyed little girl running at her, “hey, celia, where’s your mom?” she scans the area for a minute, looking for your face, until she sees a familiar face. one that she’s seen in your house. ellie walks over, crossing her arms with a slight frown.
“I’m sorry about the whole situation with your wife. I really didn’t mean any harm.” abby rubs the back of her neck, her eyes avoiding ellie’s. “I‘ll back off if you want, I just don’t wanna cause any more problems..” she puts her hands up as if surrendering. ellie is now conflicted. she was supposed to be mad at this devilishly attractive woman for trying to steal her wife, but now, she realizes that she might be horribly wrong. “there’s no need for that. what happened was in the past, and I would like celia and audrey to continue their playdates.”
abby finally looks at her, her mouth opening to say something, yet a word fails to come out. “I’ll see you around, have a good day. come on, celia.” ellie puts a hand on celia’s shoulder and turns around, only stopping once they both reach the car.
ellie pulls off, giving abby one last wave as she does. ellie feels like absolute shit. how could she have been so wrong? is she just a jealous control freak? that abby woman has to be putting up an act. there’s no way she was the bad guy in this. ellie basically overthinks the entire way home, and the moment she pulls into the driveway, she sees you outside by the front door. she and celia get out of the car with very different expressions, but before you can even ask about hers, celia gets to you first. you lead celia inside with a smile and come back out a few minutes later to speak with ellie. “well, I met abby and I have to admit..she’s charming as hell.” she sighs, leaning against the car as she rolls her shoulders.
“I'm sorry. I was an asshole. forgive me?” you look at ellie with the same unimpressed look she gave you the day before and hold your hand out. “keys,” you say monotonously. ellie frowns at this, placing the keys into the palm of your hand. “we’ll talk later. I’m going to the store.” you go around to the driver's seat and pull off, leaving ellie standing in front of the garage door.
“this stupid store never has anything I want,” you mumble. you’ve been in the same aisle for 10 minutes looking for a specific brand, which seemed impossible to find. just as you're about to switch aisles, you bump into a woman. “oh! I’m so sorry!” you pick up the woman’s bag that fell from her hand and hand it back to her, feeling embarrassed by not watching where you were going. you spot the ring on her finger while doing so, something about it being oddly familiar. the woman doesn’t say anything back to you when you give her the bag back, but she does give you a judgmental once-over.
after another minute of silence and having an incredibly awkward staring contest, she finally speaks, “it’s okay..have the day you deserve.” she smiles condescendingly and walks off. “okay, wow.” you blow out your cheeks, shaking your head in annoyance. “a thank you would’ve sufficed.” you pick up the last few things you need and go to the front to pay.
☆
“I'm back!” you shout, kicking off your shoes and heading to the kitchen immediately. ellie rushes over from the living room to greet you, a dorkish smile on her face, “hey, bought you a little something,” ellie says as she pulls out a bouquet of roses from behind her back. “surprise! I'm sorry again, babe. I mean it. I’ll even take you to that super fancy italian restaurant to prove it.” you tilt your head and smile, “thank you, honey, these are beautiful, and I accept the offer. also, I'm getting drinks with abby on sunday.” ellie gulps harshly, swallowing her words and giving you a forced smile. “..wow that's..great babe! hope it goes well,” she places the flowers on the counter, her voice clearly hinting at agitation.
“oh yeah. there was this rude ass lady in the store who looked at me like I stole money from her. she seemed so familiar though, I don't know where I've seen her.” you freeze for a moment to dig deep in your brain and fish out an answer. yet, your mind was completely blank. “should've hit her with the basket.” ellie laughs, but you don't. “her ring.” a look of realization appears on your face. ellie gives you a look of confusion, “what about her ring?” ellie watches your face intently as you make eye contact with her.
If there was one thing Ellie promised to herself before starting college, it was that she would never fall in love with someone like you. She had no problem with you being a femme, far from that, but it was just everything about what you stood for.
She had dealt with her fair share of sorority and fraternity members in her 2 years on campus, frequently invited to their parties to sell overpriced weed to drunk frat dudes and avoiding the poorly hidden judgemental stares of the picture perfect future leaders of society. She had heard what they whispered in passing, what they did behind closed doors and in the dark hallways of those grand houses, and she swore she'd never be back inside them unless it was necessary.
And then, as cliche as it was, she finally met you. It was almost like fate had kept you from her until this moment, meeting eyes for the first time while you were attending a speed recruiting table for your sorority. For some reason, you looked at her, dressed in a pair of old sweatpants and her 'only walking around the house or a quick run to the store' SpongeBob and Patrick Crocs, and decided she was a fantastic potential candidate.
You call her over, and with your eyes watching her and your smile wide as she slowly walks over, how on Earth could she say no? Every second she's noticing something new about you thats bound to get her in trouble - your soft pink sweatsuit, the small glint of an initial necklace resting on your chest, the jingling of the charm bracelet on your wrist. And when she steps up to the edge of the table she catches a brief whiff of the yummiest perfume she's ever smelled in her life.
You're talking to her, ignoring the polite yet incredulous looks of your sorority sisters as you hand her an information packet about your chapter and then offer her a damn bowl of candy. She's on auto pilot as she takes out a wrapped candy, ignoring how her heart skips a beat when you remark that you have the same favorite, and briefly reads over the pastel pink pastel pamphlet with your sorority's name printed across the top.
'Alpha Omega Kappa', literally spelling out A -OK. She could almost snort at the stupidity, but judging by the slight pout on your lips she realizes she did so out loud. Woops. If your sorority sisters were hiding their dirty looks earlier they certainly weren't now.
"What is it? Is the shade of pink weird? I wanted to go with a rosier pink for readability but my sister Tiffany thought blush would be prettier-"
"No, no, it's not that," Ellie stammers, managing to get over the small moment of embarrassment over stuttering when she notices the slight relief wash over your features. "Its...nice. Pretty font."
"Aww, thank you! Y'know you should come to our house party later on this week, I think youd enjoy it!"
Ellie is remembering that promise she made to herself years ago that she wouldn't be caught up in a situation that could jeopardize her money, her heart, and potentially her sanity. But when she tells you that she'll think about your offer before walking away you throw a little wave at her as she leaves, and for a second she swears that it's bordering on flirtatious, that your eyes look her up and down, SpongeBob cross and all, and smile at what you see.

series masterlist! - chapter one ➝ chapter two!
your life was perfect — absolutely perfect. you had a lovely wife, a beautiful baby girl, a white picket fence, and a large family home. you were a stay-at-home mom working from home, and your wife, ellie, was the main breadwinner. your six-year-old daughter, celia, was with you most of the time, and when she wasn't, she was at school, which meant you were alone. you had zero friends, and the ones you did have were out of state.
it felt like you were nobody outside of being a wife and mom. so, you started interacting more with people in your neighborhood and even planned to get celia into extracurricular activities so you could bond with other parents. after some time, making friends felt pointless, so you just stuck to your regular schedule: cook, clean, take care of celia, and tend to ellie’s needs when she got home. It didn't bother you to be taking care of the two most important people in your life, but it would've been amazing to have another person, especially a parent, to relate to about those things.
one day, as you're picking celia up from school, she runs up to you while holding another little girl's hand. “hi sweetie! who’s this?” you ask, kneeling to look at the little blonde girl before you. “this is audrey! audrey wants to know if she can come over and play house with me!” celia says cheerfully, with a huge smile that displays her two missing front teeth.
you place a comforting hand on celia’s shoulder before giving her a slight frown. “I’m sorry, honey, but I can’t just take audrey with us. I don’t think her parents would be too happy with that. maybe another time?” celia immediately tries to convince you, even starting the alligator tears to make you give in. before you can say anything else, a tall woman steps behind audrey. “there you are, I’ve been looking for you. is this your friend?” you stand up and stare at the charming woman in front of you.
her hair was braided messily, and despite being dressed so casually, she looked like she came out of a magazine. she puts her hand on audrey’s head and gives you a warm smile. “celia’s mom? I’m abby. It's nice to meet you.” she stretches her hand out to shake yours. “oh, yes, hi!” you go in to shake her hand, noticing the ring on her finger as you do so.
this could be your chance. making a new mom friend who isn't only married but also has a daughter around the same age as yours? have your prayers finally been answered?
“I’m y/n. are you from around here?” you question eagerly, but abby doesn’t seem fazed by this. “yeah, we are. we moved around here when audrey was born.”
celia turns towards abby and gives her these big pleading eyes. “miss abby, can audrey please come over to my house?” you clear your throat at this, but abby gives you a reassuring look. “maybe not today..but if your mom is okay with it, this weekend would be great!” she looks back at you, and your spirit basically jumps for joy. “yes, of course, I'll um..give you my number and we can arrange things!” you pull your phone out and quickly exchange numbers with abby. “I’ll text you.” you smile at her and pick celia up, placing her on your hip. “I’ll be waiting,” she smiles back at you, and you both part ways.
“babe, i’m home!” ellie calls out to you from the front door. you go downstairs to greet her, smiling ear to ear. “there’s my lady. how was your day? where’s babygirl?” she wraps a hand around your waist, “put her to sleep a while ago since it’s a school night. oh! and I made a friend today.” you chirped.
ellie’s brow raises, and she lets go of your waist to hang up her coat. “a new friend, huh? why don't you go ahead and tell me about this new friend while we eat dinner?” she gives you a quick peck on the lips and starts heading towards the kitchen. still, your smile falters, “wait, baby, I’m sorry.. I didn’t cook tonight.” she looks back at you with a smirk, “I know. I got your text. I bought takeout.” she motions at the bag in her hand that you somehow missed before.
you follow her into the kitchen, where she’s already plating the food. taking a seat at the table, you blow her a kiss as a thank you while she hands you a plate.
“sooo…who’s this friend?” ellie looks up at you with a half smile. “well, her name is abby, her daughter goes to school with celia. she’s married as well. saw the ring on her finger when I shook her hand. she’s kind of charming, too. like she looks like she could be a model or something.” ellie listens to your rambling, adding in little ‘okays’ and ‘reallys’ every once in a while. you stop and squint at her, “hey. what’s wrong?” ellie shrugs and takes another bite out of her food. “I don't know..you just seem smitten by her. you think she's attractive.” you sigh, now realizing why she was so quiet. “don’t be like that. I’m not attracted to her, but she is objectively attractive.”
“maybe I should watch out for her, she might steal my wife,” ellie jokes. you shake your head, a small smile playing on your lips. “oh, stop it. I’m just saying if you ever pick up celia and see a tall buff woman with blonde braided hair-” ellie cuts in, “who’s also objectively attractive.” you roll your eyes and grab her hand resting on the table.
“baby, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.” she raises your hand to her lips and kisses your knuckles, “I know. you're just so beautiful, I can’t help it.” you smile wider at her words, “you're cute when you're jealous.” you tease, “yeah yeah. now show me your tits.” your smile falls immediately. you pick up your own empty plate. “you always have to ruin it..” you pull your hand away and get up with a laugh. “also,” you place your plate in the sink, turning back around to look at ellie, “she’s coming over this weekend so celia and her daughter can have a playdate,” you add before escaping upstairs to your shared bedroom. “oh what the hell! you always add the important shit last!”
“coming!” you shout from celia’s room, running downstairs, and opening the front door. “hey you two!” you smile at the both of them, moving to the side to let them in. “celia’s just upstairs, audrey. you can go up and- oh, there she goes!” you laugh as audrey runs upstairs to celia. “should I take my shoes off?” abby points towards them, but you shake your head. “I don’t wanna make it a big deal since audrey already ran up with hers on, it’s fine honestly.” you smile awkwardly, “can I get you anything? tea, water, juice?” you name a list of drinks but abby only smiles at you. “no i’m okay,” she pauses, as if she was studying you, “are you nervous?” you laugh, feeling a bit embarrassed by being put on the spot.
“honestly yeah..I’ve never done the whole playdate thing before.” abby nods, smiling even more at your honesty. “hey let’s go to the living room so we aren’t just standing here, yeah?” while you’re leading her over to the living room, she starts taking in your home properly. pictures of you and ellie hanging on the wall, some of celia, quotes of affirmations, and other miscellaneous items. “you have a really nice house, by the way. is this your wife?” she points at the frame of you, ellie, and celia.
you sit down on the couch and instinctively smile widely at the mention of your family, nodding giddily in response. “I wish you two could’ve met today, but that office job is like her second home.” abby sits down next to you, her eyes focused entirely on you. “I get that. my wife, juliette is a really hard worker. she’s almost always on the other side of town. it’s basically just me and audrey.” abby’s eyes glance down at your hand, staring at the ring on your finger. “how long have you been married?” she looks back up at you, “three years. you?” abby hums and leans back into the couch. “five, but we dated for two. I met her in a bar on my 21st. she bought me a drink.” you smirk and raise a brow at her, “you drink?” she scoffs playfully, “are you kidding me? of course I do. I hold my liquor quite well if I do say so myself.” she says smugly, laughing along with you.
“y’know…if you're ever free, we could maybe grab some together?” she offers, playing with the ring around her finger. yet, her eyes never leave yours. “that would be nice. I haven't had a moment for myself in a long time.” abby’s lips part slightly, as if she was gonna say something but was holding back. “what?” you laugh awkwardly again, “nothing it's just,” she hesitates, “did you..did you tell your wife about me?” you look at her with a confused look.
“yes, why? was I not supposed to?” she clears her throat and sits up, “no, no, I meant like...she doesn’t get jealous that you’re alone with another woman?” you tilt your head, seemingly taken aback by her questions. “I'm- uh..wow. no? she knows about you and this. by this I mean the playdate.” you sigh deeply, thinking about what to say next. “did you tell your wife about me?” her eyes widen slightly at the question, and you place your face into your hands. “oh my god, abby this feels so weird! what is going on?” you start feeling the embarrassment wash over you.
all you wanted was for your daughter to have a playdate and for you to get a chance at finally bonding with another parent. “okay, wait, look, calm down! my wife is just...she can be a bit much, and I didn't wanna tell her that I was going to a random woman’s house!” she says defensively, but you’re already overthinking everything.
“please, y/n you gotta understand. she works out of town and I don't wanna give her the wrong idea. I just want audrey to have a friend.” she sighs as she realizes how bad everything looks now. “I’m sorry I just..I think we should cut the playdate short. maybe another time but this is just too much for me right now.” you stand up from the couch and go upstairs while abby follows close behind you.
“hey girls, time to say bye. audrey has to go now, celia.” you give the girls a half smile, but they don't return the same look. “but mommm, we were in the middle of feeding elsa pizza!” celia whines, “you can feed elsa pizza another time, sweetie. come on, audrey.” audrey walks over to abby while waving bye at celia, leaving her alone in the room as you lead the other two downstairs. “I'm sorry.” abby whispers to you as you all reach the front door. “this was great and all, but the next time we have a playdate. you need to tell your wife.” you whisper back to her firmly, “bye, honey, it was really nice having you here!” you smile at audrey and give abby one last glare before shutting the door. “fuck my life..” you huff, mentally face-palming yourself.
“I’m home!” ellie shouts from the front door as usual, but she gets no response. ellie walks into the living room and sees you on the couch all alone. “hey, babe?..you okay?” she walks around the couch and sits next to you, scanning your face worriedly. “hey, honey.. it-it’s nothing really.” you wave her off. still, she doesn’t back down. “no, hey, talk to me, baby. what’s wrong?” she grabs your hands, making you turn to look at her. “I just..I just thought things would go differently. abby came over and we did the whole playdate thing, but only for about 20 minutes.” you explain to her, feeling overwhelmed again. “it’s okay, calm down, what happened?” you take a deep breath and finally start to explain to ellie what happened, telling her how abby didn’t explain to her wife that you two even arranged anything and everything else in between.
as you’re explaining, you get so emotional over being conflicted about handling the situation that you don’t realize how different ellie’s face looks now. you finally take time to look at her. your brows furrow in confusion, “why do you look like that?” she stares at you momentarily before speaking again, “she wants you.” ellie says blankly, “what? no ellie stop. seriously.” you shake your head, but ellie persists, “I’m serious this time, y/n. she wants you. who doesn’t tell their wife that they’re having a playdate with another mom?” her voice starts getting a bit louder and you shush her, “oh my god stop, celia is sleeping. look, you need to stop. abby and her wife have been married for five years; there’s no way she wants me.”
“y/n, you're so naive..that entire situation should be enough proof for you,” she murmured sternly. “I thought you were here to comfort me, not call me naive and whatever this is,” you scoff, rolling your eyes in annoyance. “I know that she's into you, and I'm gonna prove it to you.” ellie stands up from the couch, letting your hands go. “and how do you plan on doing that, ellie?” you cross your arms as you look up at her.
“I’m gonna pick celia up next week. I'm gonna talk to her and prove to you that she's into you.” ellie stares at you with evident frustration in her face. “fine. but when you realize that she isn't, I expect an apology and a goddamn field of flowers,” you grumble. ellie doesn't say anything to this, her nose flaring slightly as she walks away from you. you sigh deeply, watching ellie storm upstairs. you shake your head and pinch the bridge of your nose, feeling a headache creeping up on you. “this is gonna be the longest week ever, and it hasn't even started yet,” you whisper.

you sit down on the couch and you instinctively smile widely at the mention of your family, nodding giddily in response. “I wish you two could’ve met today, but that office job is like her second family.” abby sits down next to you, her eyes focused entirely on you.
“okay wait look calm down! my wife is just..she can be a bit much and I didn't wanna tell her that I was going to a random woman’s house!” she says defensively, but you’re already overthinking everything.
“it’s okay, calm down, what happened?” you take a deep breath and finally start to explain to ellie what happened, telling her how abby didn’t explain to her wife that you two even arranged anything and everything else in between.
as you’re explaining, you get so emotional over being conflicted about handling the situation that you don’t realize how different ellie’s face looks now. you finally take time to look at her. your brows furrow in confusion, “why do you look like that?” she stares at you momentarily before speaking again, “she wants you.” ellie says blankly, “what? no ellie stop. seriously.” you shake your head, but ellie persists, “I’m serious this time, y/n. she wants you. who doesn’t tell their wife that they’re having a playdate with another mom?” her voice starts getting a bit louder and you shush her, “oh my god stop, celia is sleeping. look you need to stop. abby and her wife have been married for five years; there’s no way she wants me.”
“this is gonna be the longest week, and it hasn't even started yet,” you whisper.

a/n: hi guys, it’s been awhile! I literally haven’t been active in SO long, so this is officially going to be my coming back post. I’ve been working on this for some time and I hope you guys like it. I also would like to thank my best friend, @desertteagles for helping me with the plot and the characters! ( she’s so sweet guys. 🥲 ) also I DO NOT CONDONE ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN THIS STORY!!! this is all fictional.
Synopsis- your brothers back from college and he brings his best friend since childhood back with him. you’ve realized you have a crush on her and sworn you wouldn’t act on it, fearing your brothers disapproval. ellie also has been harboring feelings for you but promised to not make a move per your brothers request.. especially since ellie’s kind of a player.
warnings- no smut this time </3 but little angst ig…, uhhhh idk i think that’s it.. was gonna make this a oneshot (that’s why the punctuation is sorta kinda good) but i decided NAWT to so here !
a/n well um… hi guys ! i’ve been gone for a year my bad chat 😞
U nfortunately, today was the fucking day. Now, usually, you’re happy whenever your brother decides to visit home, but this time he’s bringing an unwanted (very wanted) guest that you’ve been kind of avoiding, in order to not run your big ass mouth.
Ellie was annoying as fuck. That didn’t stop you from developing a crush on her, though, and you hated yourself for it. It was just... she’s so pretty with her stupid green eyes and veiny hands, and her pretty hair that’s always in that fuckass bun, and her... “Wait, what the fuck. Stop thinking about her, oh my god,” you groaned, putting your face in your hands. Unsurprisingly, you could never seem to keep her from getting stuck in your mind. It was a never-ending cycle of “I don’t even like her; she just has a nice face,” to “Why the fuck am I lying? I want her so bad,” battling it out in your head ever since you realized there might be something more than just annoyance toward her because she was your brother's best friend. Which also opens a whole new can of worms that you really don’t have the mental capacity to deal with.
You see, your brother is very, very, very overprotective. It was so bad that you couldn’t even bring up liking celebrities around him, which was absurd, so you had to tell him to back off (he never really did). Ellie, being the player that she is, definitely tried to get your brother's blessing to pursue you back in high school, but he naturally shot her down with a vicious and explicitly detailed description of how he’d kill her and hide the body if she ever tried anything with you, which effectively scared her from even looking at you for a while. Obviously, that didn’t last long because she became this annoying nuisance of a human being, and it ground your gears until she finally left for college with your brother, giving you a much-needed break.
the break didn’t last long because for some odd reason you thought it was the greatest fucking idea to stalk her social media. Granted, you did it out of hate (it wasn’t hate) so it’s really not your fault that seeing her posts made you start looking at her in a different light. But now she was back. And this time, you have this added knowledge that she’s hot as fuck and you don’t really think you will be able to function around her.
You paced around your room, hands in your hair, agonizing over what the fuck to wear ever since you learned Ellie was visiting with your brother today. It was like some kind of cosmic joke — the universe giving you just enough time to forget how much you liked her before slamming her right back into your life.
You could hear the muffled sound of your brother’s laugh from downstairs. Your stomach twisted, nerves kicking in. You peeked out of your bedroom window and, sure enough, there was Ellie, leaning against the car, hands shoved in her pockets, that fuckass bun sitting low on her head. She was talking to your brother, but you barely registered him — all you could focus on was her smirk, the way her eyes squinted when she laughed, how the light from the sun caught on her freckles. Now that made you make a face, “ew why the fuck am i thinking like a poet.”
“Gotdammit,” you muttered to yourself. “Get it the fuck together.”
Your heart was racing, but you couldn't tell if it was from excitement or dread. Maybe both…. definitely both.
A sharp knock on your door yanked you out of your thoughts, and before you could even answer, your brother barged in. “Hey, Ellie’s here,” he said, grinning like an idiot. “Come down and say hi, don’t be weird.”
You raised an eyebrow. “I’m not the weird one, you are. and plus i have to finish getting ready! i’ll be down in a second, get out!”
He rolled his eyes. “Just be normal for like five minutes, when you come down okay? I know you guys have this weird rivalry or whatever the fuck but its been like a year so please.”
“fine, but if she starts her shit don’t say anything.” you mumbled, closing the door behind him and leaning against it. “fuck me.” you sighed and turned to finish getting ready.
—
As soon as you hit the bottom step, Ellie’s eyes locked on yours. That familiar spark of mischief shined in her gaze. She tilted her head slightly, grinning in that infuriatingly, cocky way that always made your knees a littttle weak.
“Hey,” she said, her voice soft but teasing, as if she already knew the effect she had on you. Which she couldn’t know… right? Right.
You swallowed hard, trying to act unfazed. “Ellie.”
Her grin widened, and for a split second, you could’ve sworn she looked you up and down. Almost like she was checking you out. weird. “Long time no see,” she said, stepping forward and pulling you into a quick, unexpected hug.
Your brain short-circuited for a moment, and when she let go, you were left standing there, blinking like an idiot, your skin buzzing from where her hands had briefly touched your back.
“It’s barely been a year. but yeah, long time,” you managed, trying desperately to sound casual but instead sounding like a dying cat.
—
The next couple of hours were spent catching up and you watching ellie and your brother play Call of duty.. or was it fortnite? you can’t really remember. all you can seem to focus on is how ellie’s hands look around the controller and how good they’d look around your ne- “hey. are you.. okay?” you jumped a little at being pulled from your thoughts by ellie and slowly realized how long you were staring at her hands. “oh um yea.. totally,” you chuckled nervously and turned your attention back to the TV trying to ignore Ellie's burning gaze on the side of your face. Like usual, your brother was oblivious to anything but that damn game, trash talking like crazy, while you kept sneaking looks at Ellie after that embarrassing ass moment. She didn’t seem to mind though; in fact, she seemed to enjoy catching you staring. Every time you glanced her way, she was already looking, a knowing smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
At one point, you found yourself in the kitchen, you were hungry as fuck and being a third wheel didn’t exactly curb your hunger. Unfortunately, Ellie walked in not too long after you, her presence immediately making the room feel smaller.
“So,” she said, dragging the o and leaning against the counter with that same smirk. “You’ve been avoiding me.”
You froze, almost crushing a chip that was making its way into your mouth in your hand. “What!? No, I haven’t. You're actually delusional, I don't know.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Rightttt. I'm totally delusional.”
You turned to look at her, grabbing another chip out of the bag to eat before pausing and saying, “Okay, maybe I have. But it’s not purposefully !”
Ellie took a step closer, and you had to force yourself to keep breathing. “Oh really?”
“Yes really! I have literally no reason to avoid you. Don’t be dumb. i’ve just been busy with getting my esthetician license.. ” You bit your lip, trying and failing to seem calm. God, this was the exact situation you were trying to avoid. You wanted to tell her off, make her stop questioning you, but honestly… you kinda missed her (you’d never admit this out loud) and it was nice talking to her. Not to mention looking at her lips while she talked was one of your favorite pastimes.
Ellie took another step forward, so close now that you could smell her — that familiar mix of leather and something earthy. It was distracting as hell, and you loved hated it. You took a deep breath, trying to calm the pounding in your chest.
“Busy with your esthetician license, huh?” Ellie’s voice was low, almost mocking, as if she knew how much of a lie that sounded like, even if it was mostly true. “that’s hilarious because you seemed to have plenty of time to stare at my hands earlier.”
Your face burned instantly. “I wasn’t staring,” you blurted, probably a little too fast.
Ellie’s smirk widened, her eyes flicking down to your hands fidgeting with the chip bag. “Sure you weren’t.” She was enjoying this way too much, but instead of leaving you to drown in embarrassment, she stepped even closer, her gaze suddenly more intense, less mocking. “You know, I don’t typically care if you stare.”
Your brain completely short-circuited. Was she for real? You swallowed hard, your heart hammering in your chest as you decided it’s now or never and maybe it’s time to give her a taste of her own medicine.
You leaned in, your eyes locked on hers, and for a moment, the playful tension between you both shifted into something else — something heavier. “is that right?” you whispered, your voice barely above a murmur as you tucked a loose strand behind her ear with a smirk.
Ellie’s breath hitched and you saw a blush spread across her face like crazy. She was not expecting you to reciprocate her teasing. In fact, she thought you would get too flustered to even think. You giggled at her stunned face, body still alight with nerves and your mind screaming did i really just do that??? The room felt impossibly small, and you couldn’t focus on anything but how close she was. You could feel the heat radiating off her skin, the way her gaze flickered down to your lips for just a second before snapping back to your eyes.
“I—” you started, but before you could even finish, your brother’s voice cut through the tension like a knife, causing you to jump back from Ellie in surprise.
“Ellie, you better be keeping your hands to yourself…” he called from the living room, his tone half-joking but you could tell he wasn’t.
Ellie groaned in annoyance at the interruption. She raised her hand as if to hold yours but faltered at your confused expression, and dropped it with a sigh “Yeah, yeah,” she muttered, her voice quieter now, as she turned toward the living room. “Jesus Christ.”
