So I avoided the rape/non-con that is often present with Godstiel, as you said you wanted Dean to be concerned for Cas here and want to be with him. The following fics should all have that to some degree, but keep in mind that most Godstiel authors tend to portray a very twisted, dark Destiel.

Hey I'm looking for a fic that's a work in progress and its set in High School and Dean get's asked to join the football team and Cas is a bit of ass at first and has a boyfriend but Dean likes him anyway.

I've done some google searching, but I'm afraid that high school AUs are plentiful and a bit of a nightmare to narrow down. If you could answer the following questions for more detail, I'll do my best to help out a bit more.

Failure (to Cuddle) is Not an Option

All Castiel wants for Christmas is to cuddle, is that really too much to ask?

Admittedly, it does sound somewhat OOC and ridiculous for Cas to want to cuddle, but this fic is basically the most adorable Christmas fluff you will ever read. Once you suspend your disbelief a bit at the basic plot line (even so, scaramouche makes it plausible), this is pure, unadulterated, well-written fluff. It's short, sweet, and just awkward enough to make it cute and humorous, and with the holiday season fully upon us, it's perfect to cuddle up with. Dean and Cas are both very cute in their own ways here, and the light-hearted tone makes this a very fun, fluffy one-shot. Bible Study

Castiel gives Dean a late night lesson in scripture interpretation.

PWP with language kink and somewhat established relationship. Cute dialogue, somewhat humorous, and a realistic setting added nicely to the fic. As it's a PWP, there's not much to say here, but this is decently well-written, along with well-characterized (especially the dialogue), so if you're looking for destiel smut, this is worth a shot. The concept of fallen!Cas feeling insecure about his new lack of powers is a highly realistic one. I think the phrase "I can help" was, however, something of a crutch in this fic. I don't find it unlikely that Cas would use it repeatedly, however, at some point, it became overly repetitive and fit somewhat awkwardly into the fic. That aside, this fic does have some very nice qualities, mainly in Dean's characterization. His dialogue, especially, was completely spot on. The writing is nice, the plot, heartbreaking, but what really stands out is the very supernatural-esque atmosphere. It feels true to the show. This fic has an interesting concept that is highly relevant to the characters and show right now, however, undoubtedly, it could have been executed better.

Ocean Spray

Castiel changed Dean three days ago and, as a little treat to the new vampire, has taken Dean to the seaside to enjoy it as a vampire would.

This is a pretty shameless PWP, but it's written by highermagic, so read it anyway. Considering its pure smut, there's not much to be said here, except highermagic often writes an interesting dom/sub dynamic between Cas and Dean, featuring top!dom!cas and, obviously, bottom!sub!dean. Although I think that can draw away from the characterization, as its unlikely that Dean is really that submissive or that Castiel acts in that way, I really don't mind the OOC in this fic, but maybe that's just because I love sub!Dean. I'm also typically not a fun of vamp!AUs, but I like highermagics. There's definitely a slightly creepy element to it, as Dean and Cas's relationship seems somewhat based on conditioning, however, if that's a squick for you, it's not super prominent in the story, so it shouldn't be overly concerning. The writing and description were lovely, per usual, and the smut was beyond hot. If you're looking for a PWP, this is it. MATURE READERS for smut.

Flashes of Memory

Dean wakes up after his hellhound attack expecting to find himself in a pit of fire, but instead finding himself in the arms of a surprisingly attractive blue-eyed stranger.

As amnesia fics go, this one is actually surprisingly not that heartbreaking. It's impossible to completely dull the edge of one-half of your OTP not remembering that the other exists, much less remembering that they love that other half, however, this fic takes that sadness and angsts and pairs it wonderfully with some humor and some fluff. The characterization is quite realistic, but I think the Destiel is to be commended most. It's difficult at best to build an emotional connection in a fic like this, but this author succeeded impressively, and the tenderness between the two (especially on Castiel's part) is both touching and lovely. Not too plotty but not pure schmoop, this fic was a wonderful balance between sadness and sweetness. Note/Warning: Amnesia!Dean in case you didn't already realize. No worries; all asks/requests are welcome. What's making me sad/annoyed is that I'm sure I've read something like this before, if not exactly like this. However, after quite a lot of searching, I'm not seeing too much for it. I'd say this is the closest to what you're looking for (although not quite sure if raging hormones and fantasizing applies). Blind

The first time Castiel met Dean Winchester, he literally stumbled into him and the first words he heard were, “Hey, watch where you’re going, man.”

Note: This fic is actually untitled. I simply put Blind as the title to make it clear to readers that this fic features blind!Cas. Normally blind!Cas really isn't my thing, although it seems to be a popular trope within the fandom. I felt, however, that this author did a really wonderful job with it. There was something very sweet about this fic, and the love and comfort between Dean and Castiel lent a truly lovely atmosphere to it. The fic takes reality into account. It's not unrealistically schmoopy (although it's undeniably cute), because it has those little awkward moments that are simply a fact of life. That accuracy allowed for the fic to really come alive, despite the different subject material. That precision also followed through in characterization, with both Dean and Castiel acting sweet and loving here. Cas was adorable with his slight insecurity, and everything was spot-on. This may be a short, fluffy, one-shot, but there's something deeper in the Destiel here that makes it more than worth reading. To Call Your Own

The most important rule to remember is that all property of the Adler Estate will behave in accordance with the First Amendment of the North American Union and will follow the Governing Body’s Statute of Slavery to the letter of the law. Being a slave doesn't suit Dean but it's nothing he can't handle until someone familiar takes him out of Alistair's cruel hands and into his own. Suddenly Dean finds himself at war with what he wants, struggling to reconcile the man he knew with the one he calls "master" and fighting to remember who he is and what he's ultimately set out to do.

This AU was built wonderfully, with a unique set-up for a somewhat common trope, not to mention the master-slave relationship is always interesting to explore. Slave!Dean was well-characterized, what with his rebellious instincts and protective nature. I think, however, that Castiel's character could have been better. The swings in his character, although somewhat explained, felt rather abrupt, as did the Destiel. A former relationship complicated matters, but although it added to the depth of the Destiel, there was definitely a lack of connection or at least emotion between the two. This fic could have benefited from a more detailed plot line and story arc, as the universe is unique and well-developed, but the story much less so. Much of the action was skipped over, leading to a somewhat abrupt ending. Otherwise, however, kudos to the author for an interesting AU and some well-done Dean characterization. This fic had potential for a lot more that it didn't quite live up to, however, it was still well-executed and a compelling fic. Something Unexpected

As you can probably guess, this fic features a pretty big age difference. For those of you who like that kink, but don't like the illegal part of it, never fear; in this fic, the author makes sure everything's legal, so you can enjoy the kinks without feeling weirded out or guilty. Besides that, I found this fic cute, if a little out of character at first. In the beginning, Dean and Castiel feel a bit shallow as characters; Dean is cocky, Castiel is reserved (but is interested in Dean, clearly), but there's nothing more, really. Later, the two definitely become more fleshed out. Even if I didn't entirely agree with some of the characterization decisions, most of the fic was so adorable, I found I didn't really care, and it's not as if the characterization was necessarily bad. An author who actually managed to pull off a common but unlikely trope in quite a realistic manner, CloudyJenn delivers a wonderful mix of fluff, smut, and just a bit of awkwardness and angst to balance it all out. The Boomerang Effect

While working a case with the Winchesters, Castiel has a meeting with a monster who awakens something inside him – something Dean is in need of, too.

I'll be honest; tentacle!fics and dark!fics aren't really my thing. I found this one intriguing and for the most part well-written, even if it was a bit too dark/disturbing for my taste. The set-up for this fic was certainly unique; the way the Destiel happened is never something I would have expected. That's not to say it was unrealistic or unlikely, simply surprising. Dean and Castiel ended up having sex for all the wrong reasons, and it really added to the darker aspect of this fic, all the while creating a connection that wasn't quite emotional; instead, it was base, raw, and brutal. Everything in this fic ends up combining to create a very, very intense atmosphere. There were definitely some moments that felt out of character, however, allowances can be made considering both Castiel and Dean go through traumatic events prior to/during this fic, which could cause changes to their typical manners. Think Destiel with more than a dash of disturbing; I still enjoyed this, which says something, because normally a fic like this would tip the scales too far to the "disturbing" side for me. Even if it was still a bit much, I think a person who typically enjoys darker fics would find this one very good, as it maintains that heavier tone, but keeps everything realistic and true to character and Destiel. This Moment Will Keep

Dean and Cas spend Christmas morning in bed.

This is pure, unadulterated fluff that's so sweet you'll need a dentist afterwards. That's not to say that's a bad thing; although there's not much to say here, because it's just a fluffy one-shot, the understanding between Castiel and Dean was sweet. Really cute, domestic scenarios added up to make an unbelievably adorable fic that was actually surprisingly realistic and in character. Not All the Way Through

The first time, Dean is gentle.

I know I've been reccing a lot of bittersweet, bleak, angsty end!verse type fics recently, but it's all I have time to read right now. My apologies, and I'll get some more variety on this blog in a few days (once the weekend starts). That being said, I'm also a complete sucker for end!verse, despite it being so angsty. This fic is probably my favorite end-verse fic that I've ever read. One unique thing about it is that it actually shows the transition from normal Dean and Cas to their end!verse characters, a heartbreaking change that, at least in this fic, was covered realistically and smoothly. Their changes in character were shockingly realistic, and the sheer accuracy of their descent into their worst-selves made everything that much more painful. Of course, to accurately portray this change in character, the characterization overall had to be spot-on. The author here had no problem with that; broken in different ways, Castiel's and Dean's worst versions of themselves were perfect. Dean's lack of emotion and borderline brutality (not even so borderline) clearly masked a hidden inner turmoil, while Castiel's descent into the vices of humanity was an easily believable fall. The way the relationship between the two quickly becomes so frayed and twisted is a sad contrast to the happiness briefly shown between the two in the beginning of the story, during better days. Mirroring the characters themselves, this fic goes from happy to heartbreaking in a couple paragraphs. Bittersweet, bleak, and poignant, this fic brings angst that just makes your heart-break to a whole new level. MATURE READERS for smut and some very slight dub-con. At the Bottom

You claimed Cas in Hell and corrupted him on Earth and dragged him from Heaven and guarded him in Purgatory, and apparently even God himself won’t dispute the strength of your bond.

This fic is in second person, something I very rarely appreciate. I think that it worked here, in that it wasn't distracting, but it's not as though it necessarily added anything that 3rd person couldn't achieve. That being said, this fic had some very stunning characterization. The scene being portrayed here was more than a little heartbreaking, and Dean's reaction to it was accurate. There was a lot of depth to the Destiel in this, despite the shortness of the fic. Kudos to the author for great imagery, not to mention interesting concepts concerning Dean, Castiel, and grace. I Got a Bad Case of Lovin' You

 Dean can't help but hide a smirk as he waltzes into the doctor's office. This particular wing of the hospital is for mixed patients – there are humans as well as Angels in the ward today, and he gets his fair share of curious eyes when he walks in and sits down in one of the ugly blue plastic chairs. He closes his eyes, smiling to himself when he hears a few Angels sniff the air curiously.

Unf. That's all I can really say about this one. It's an utter PWP, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. The dominant/submissive angels idea was interesting, and I liked how it was incorporated into the story, but also didn't overwhelm it. The very slight jealousy/pining/possessiveness was very sweet, and I can easily confirm that everything about this was very hot. Dominant!Cas is something I don't see as often as Dom!Dean, so it was interesting to see it here, however, I think that lead to certain breaks in character (unlikely statements and pet names, etc). On the other hand, it is a PWP, so it's not as though it matters too much. Otherwise, kudos for excessive wing!kink and angel!Dean and unf, again. MATURE READERS for smut.
