So I had a Destiel idea, and I kinda wanna workshop it with someone, but idk who yet
I've been thinking about why, often in media, angels are depicted with wings and eyes, and why demons are all shadowy and sometimes have tentacle-like depictions
And then I came up with a theory that it's because we as humans have a clear view of the sky and above, but don't often know the depths of the ocean. And the unknown is what drives most fears
So when we think about goodness, we think about brightness and the openness of the skies; Birds. And when thinking of evil, we think of fear of the unknown, the depths, sea creatures, and never-ending darkness; deep-sea creatures.
So I then got the idea of an AU where Castiel is some kind of avian that watches over sailors. Kinda like sirens, but they don't eat people. They feed off of humans' energy, so it actually benefits them to protect sailors from storms, so long as they feed on their dreams
On the flipside, we got 'sea monsters' who are creatures that feed off of a different kind of energy. Whether these monsters make deals with sailors to sell their souls for deep-sea treasures, or straight up capsize boats, they feed off the fear of death and danger they inflict. And if they capture a human, they could turn said human into one of them
One faithful night, as Castiel watches over a ship that has just left the port, he is suddenly drawn towards the incredible dreams of a man on board. His dreams are unlike any other. Wild and dangerous, nightmarish evil. Full of adventure and vivid images of the unknown. What makes him unique is how he's able to control these dreams. His dream self is fighting, fearless, and unashamed. The adventure he goes through in his mind sees him fighting a deep-sea beast with his brother to defend the ship
And whiles Castiel watches his dream unfold, in the skies of his mind space, the harpoon Dean weilds turn away from the beast, and towards Castiel
Dean shoots. Direct hit through Castiel's chest. His wings fail him, flapping in panic at the sudden attention before he is pulled down to the deck of the ship and crashes with a wail, the harpoon having turned downwards to stab into the wood of the boat, pinning Castiel in place
He felt no pain, just astonishment, as the human towered over his form with a gun pointed at his head
"Who are you and how the hell did you get here?"
So basically, the idea is that Dean's dreams are actually his brother's premonition dreams that Dean can just jump into and control in hopes of changing or predicting their fates
And Castiel has just stumbled upon what could be considered in the mythical world as "infinite food."
let me know whatcha think
