Kovu didn't know where to look first. He spent so many years looking longingly at Pride Rock. But now he was inside, and it was nothing like he'd imagined-- it was better. Fireplaces roared and warmed the stone castle, housing all the privileged royals and nobles of the Pridelands. Smells of all kinds wafted around the many rooms and corridors. He could smell foods he'd never even smelled before, let alone tasted.

"It's... large. And warm."

He couldn't think of anything else to say to Kiara.

Simba and his followers were gone from Pride Rock, but he was mentioned in whispers every day. Everyone wondered whether Simba would come back, leading an army to tear Scar from the throne.

Nuka said Simba would kill Kovu if he defeated Scar, since the little boy was Scar’s heir. The thought gave Kovu nightmares every night.  ( x )
