“Oi, Shinichi.. guess where I am right now?” Ran chirped cheerfully as she held her phone to her ear after hearing the males voice. “I’m at your place, i need to borrow a book. I’m also going to clean up a little bit while i’m here.” she smiled as she entered the what she called ‘the library room’. “I know you are not home right now but is there anything you want me to cook for you?”

If there were ever a reason to call someone out for overstepping your boundaries it would probably be something akin to entering your house while you were not present. However, with Ran--that wasn’t overstepping. The thing that sparked his curiosity the most in this conversation was which book she was borrowing--he was close to asking her himself, but dropped it in favor of some light teasing.

“Oi, oi. How can I guess if you’re just going to give me the answer?” The word ‘idiot’ fondly hanging from the tip of his tongue, unsaid. This time. Her cooking for him sounded both appealing and un. On one hand he needed to eat, on the other she would see his sparsely stocked groceries. “I can find food for myself, I’m almost home anyway and have an essay I need to start.”

It’s been a long day, but that’s how it’s always been--hasn’t it? Rest, peace, quietness...they all exist--in theory. The perpetual weight of what has yet to come is a dreary one, his shoulders were stretched too thin to carry that burden as he was. Would that ever go away...? This is yet another uncertain factor that bore a question he’d rather avoid an answer to.

Ah--crap, he’d spaced again, he really should be getting better at that. “Sorry about that!” A hand risen in apology, a wince long settled across his face as if to deepen the gesture. He’s pretty good at remembering how much space he takes up now, it’s something he was used to once. Yet, now, he will sometimes find himself assuming his pathway to be much more open--completely forgetting the length of his only sometimes sore limbs.

Oh, the illusionist is back, casually let himself in. Though... quite a bit shorter than usual. Looks fine otherwise, maybe a little annoyed for someone who looks like a child. ( Maybe he should have called or texted first, to not surprise the detective, but he's not in the best mood for rational ideas. )

A kid? A foreigner none the less...one of his parent’s friends...? Of course, he’s used to shenanigans by now, but still... It doesn’t look like they’re uncomfortable here... Maybe he’s trying to prove a point? Goaded in here by others for a test of courage? He’d thought that’d stopped once Subaru made himself more well known.

...He looks a bit like Gunter...? Probably the hair... Actually, with how he’s here, either he’s really comfortable anywhere(dangerous, be more aware of your surroundings, you’re young), or he’s been here a few times before. Possibly both. He probably should have put to rest the rumors of his manor being haunted a while ago, but... Well, the kid looked more like a loner, maybe he was using his place to get away from others--wait, the kid should have noticed the light, or shoes... Definitely one of his parents friends...? His deductive skills were weakening, still, there were more simple ways to get answers here...

Crouches down in front of the child. “...And? What exactly are you doing here?” A bit of soft hearted sarcasm behind his wording(skipping bothering to even ask for a name yet to get straight to the ‘you sure seem comfortable here’). At the same time, having more (albeit almost disbelieving) fun with the situation of the other breaking and entering so casually. Still, he for sure hadn’t given him that permission.

There's some light nuzzling against the detective's head, but only for a short moment before the illusionist relaxed again. And after a minute or so, he pulled Shinichi closer. Not fully asleep, but definitely not awake, either. Makes you wonder how he ever managed to comfortably sleep without a detective to cuddle.

Gives away his own state of wake by incriminating himself--a crook of his mouth perpetrating upwards. The other being especially affectionate at this moment, causing his features to soften in comfortable silence. To counter the thought, how has this one ever managed to sleep comfortably without an assassin to cuddle? One of the Earth’s greatest mysteries. One this detective’s not too keen on solving, but he is sure sleeping alone will never be as comfortable as it had been before he knew what he was missing.

The pain comes from almost nowhere, as heat scorches his entire being. Heart feeling like it was hot to the point of stopping, and he knew this feeling like how he knew the back of one of his favorite books. ( Knew he couldn’t keep quiet if it was like normal, but would bite his lips hard to distract from the sudden overbearing pain. )

Hold his, hand over his-- “GyaaaaaaAAAaAH!” Holding his chest to calm the compressions of his heart as another scream h u r l s out, unable to be contained even in his larger ( normal ) body. “AaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAH!”

Bites his upper lip ( a coppery smell-- taste ), wasn’t being-- “Aaaaah--mpH--GYAAAAAHHHHH!” Why wasn’t it ending? He... he was still him, felt like he was going to burn out and die right there if it continued. The heat a lot more p a i n f u l than any internal shifting that might have been attempting ( failing ) to start. A noise of some kind, ears throbbing too much to make out what the noise was... Only one person it could be to be here that fast. 

The pressure, sporadic, intense buzzing of internal scalding calming, but the leftover burning had him feeling like he’d been cooked from the inside, the pain wasn’t exactly going away... “...Kaito...?” Mangled out, a strange sound. No, he was used to this pain--yet... Felt wrong to still be in the body of a highschooler, even if this has happened before.

Shoot, he wasn’t expecting the other boy to actually take him up on his offer. He knows Kudo Shinichi all too well from the newspaper and reports on television, but he doubts the detective would recognise him at all. 

Now he has to keep up a conversation with a celebrity. “E-er… it’s a card game I really enjoy called Duel Monsters. It’s getting really popular in Japan, but o-of course, please don’t feel obligated to play me,” he stammers, feeling more and more embarrassed with every word.

Duel monsters? He’s heard a bit about that, usually in passing, but... It definitely is popular among card games. “Isn’t that a deck building game?” He’s never gotten a duel monsters card in his life... And deck builders took a long time to build good decks for, considering they were ( usually ) card collection games. The fact that he’s asking him to play like this...meant he had more than one deck? Or...? If he did, he must really like the game...

If he liked the game enough to have enough cards for 2 decks, he probably had other friends to play it with... Was there a specific reason he wanted to play with him...? Either way, definitely didn’t mind entertaining the other. “I’ve never played, if you’re all right with putting up with a newcomer, I’d be happy to play you.” You know, once he learns the rules. Almost felt like patting the other’s head, if not for the action being abnormal and his hair being spikey. “I’ve been interested in seeing what it’s about ( aka, not an obligation ), so how do you play?”

“Eh?” Blinks at the smaller, taking in his appearance. The hair, make-up(?), cutesy yet overpowering natural meekness exuding from the other an utter contrast to his styled hair and ( adorably ) punkish clothes.

“A game...?” He honestly had no idea what kind of game the other might be intending for. “Sure. I’ll tell you if I start to feel pressured.” Had a feeling he might never feel pressured by such a soft(?) person. “What kind of game is it?”

“As I was saying, the culprit then used the false alibi to be at the place of the crime while it was being committed. The only one who could have done that is Kawauchi-san...Obviously I’m not talking about the victim Kawauchi, but rather his daughter...”  Oh yeah, it was a holiday today... 

“Now that I think about it, even if she had been caught, there’s a good excuse simply in the date for why she would have been visiting him despite her well known recent general avoidance...”

...He understood the motive, but... guesses it still didn’t really make sense to him. ( The pictures around his house, and in her phone, they’d have a loving relationship until her parents divorce was mentioned... And even after, they clearly still loved each other as father and daughter. She hadn’t known he’d wanted to give his assets to her mom, or this could have been entirely avoided... Now neither side would have anything, the dad was dead, the daughter a murderer, and the mom being charged as an accomplice. )

...He felt sick ( if you think about it, isn’t solving this case going against the whole family’s wishes? It’s not like they would hurt anyone else, and once it was uncovered, there would be nothing but regret. Yet, he continued his deduction anyway ). 

“The cat might have been the only witness, but there’s something unique about this cat as well. See, Natsu likes to eat grass, but she has an allergy. The culprit knew about this allergy, so it couldn’t have been either of the two who would merely meeting him as loan sharks. The culprit who killed him took off their shoes before even entering the house, something normal people wouldn’t even think of, especially when them being guests would be public knowledge.”

“Kawauchi-san is the only one who would have thought of the cat. And the reason for the spot of blood outside the front door was because she’d gotten some of the victim’s blood on her sock. She wouldn’t have had time to go back or discard and replace her shoes. Even if she’d managed to take off her socks, there should be a stain in her right shoe that perfectly matches the one on the front porch as evidence...”
