Puberty is not optional. Taking GNRh agonists will not pause it. Taking cross-sex hormones after will not cause you to go through the puberty of the opposite sex. Males might stand a better chance of "passing" as a female but the consequences for your overall health are dire, particularly for your bones. To people who defend porn by bringing up home-made consensual masturbation videos/amateur couple videos and that sort of thing: there are videos like that of me (and me with another woman) circulating on the internet that were stollen from me and are now being sold without my consent. Many many camgirls have their private video sessions illegally recorded and sold. Not to mention all the “couple” videos where the girls were told it was just for personal use, and then their boyfriends post them online. Just bc it was consensually filmed doesn’t mean it was consensually shared.

Not to mention you will never know if it was even consensually filmed in the first place since many men record women without their consent both in the bedroom and online. And if they did consent, you have no idea what kind of factors very likely influenced and coerced the “consent” for it to be filmed, such as pressure from their boyfriends/husbands or women who were forced to in abusive relationships or women who did it out of economic desperation. This goes for cam girls, amateur porn, and women who are not in the sex industry who have made homemade videos. 

Plus you have to take into consideration how porn culture, objectification, misogyny, and capitalism all play a huge role in all of this and how women and girls are groomed into thinking these things are expected of them in relationships. The prevalence of porn absolutely plays a huge part in coercing women to feel like they have to make videos with their male partners. I was personally pressured into making videos with an emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend who made me feel like if I did not make videos with him he would cheat or be “forced” to look at porn even though he knew I didn’t want him consuming porn (of course, even though I made these videos with him, he still constantly looked at porn anyway and it was a large part of what ruined our relationship).

These videos were sold online as a cam girl and the sex depicted in them was uncomfortable, fake, painful, and humiliating (mainly because of the fact that there was constantly a fucking camera in the bedroom with us) and the only reason I ever sold them was because they were the only means of making ends meet at the time, which certainly does not fall under the parameters of enthusiastic/genuine consent. Having to do that seriously fucked me up and the fact that those videos are still out there (both in possession of my ex and online) really destroys me. This isn’t even touching on all of the recordings of me as a cam girl that are out there that were captured and distributed without my supposed “consent.” When you look at it from these perspectives there is really no way to justify it at all.

And if we know that at least some of these videos are actually exploitive/rape, how can anyone watch them, knowing they may at any time be participating in this exploitation. It’s a very good point that even if the person in the video did agree to the sex act, the filming and the posting; they still have the right to withdraw consent to the video being viewed at any point. Watching a sexual video of someone who has not specifically agreed to you personally seeing it is a violation in and of itself

This post was really thought-provoking to me because the more I analyzed it, the less it computed. That was really exciting to me because it made me realize how much radical feminism rewires your brain when you're confronted with this kind of superficial drivel.

The fact that it seemed totally nonsensical conveys several very important things about where I'm at mentally:

1. That "femininity" is almost a non-concept to me at this point. It is just a label for a performance that I don't even participate in anymore and which has no connection to my womanhood. To suggest that I ought to strive for it, when it's just a specific style of self-expression, would seem just as arbitrary as suggesting that I should attempt to resemble and behave like a stuffy 17th century magistrate with a powdered wig if I want to be a real woman. What exactly is it about any performance, clothing or accessories that is intrinsically tied in with my femaleness, and why should I strive for it? Once you're outside of it, you see how there was never a connection between the two.

2. That even if this person were female, I could never feel that I were "threatened" somehow by how they look compared with me, because I don't place any value on beauty anymore and it has nothing to do with my value or theirs. What would I be competing for? The approval of males (or females) who are so shallow that they judge my worth on my appearance? At this point I couldn't conceive of caring about the opinion of such persons.

3. That feeling superior for wearing the heaviest and most meticulously applied mask is the same as saying "I have the lowest self-esteem here and am thus superior to all the women I work with who are comfortable enough with themselves to wear less/go without." When I was younger I used to feel embarrassed if my makeup was too light, but now that I see makeup as a crutch and a mask, it wouldn't occur to me that I ought to feel inferior next to someone who utilizes it - because it would be far better if they didn't in the first place. It would be like an alcoholic making fun of me for not having the "skill" of pounding a 12-pack of beer like they can, when I've long since given up drinking. I wouldn't be impressed.

Radical feminism puts you in a totally different mental sphere where you simply don't analyze things the way you used to, and where the things people value don't seem to make sense. Before, when I accepted concepts about what was expected of me as a woman, I didn't question anything. Now, I find myself asking, "But why would I want to do that? Why should I care about any of this? Who am I meant to be impressing by doing xyz, and why should I care what they think? What exactly is wrong with me that I should have to torture and hide myself to fix it?"

Rather than automatically obeying each expectation, I'm automatically 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 each expectation. This is what radical feminism does, and once you begin, you're never able to go back.
