“November night. Brief note to self: Time to take myself in hand. To build into myself, to give myself backbone, however much I fail.”
— Sylvia Plath, from a journal entry featured in “The Unabridged Journals”
Whatever. There's still art and music and dancing and singing and bad jokes from your friends and movies that make you cry and your favourite coffee shop and tasty little treats and cats and dogs and rabbits and birds and christmas lights and fun outfits and rain upon flowers and beautiful sunsets and finding shapes in clouds and love and sex and friendship and joy and magic and humanity and kindness and you. Tell your friends you love them more often, be good to each other, take it day by day.

Inspired by the ID card portrait of Toni/Kathe T, one of the first to receive a “transvestite passport” in 1928 in Weimar Republic (before the rise of the nazi party)
These passports were issued by early sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld to those who we might consider trans or gnc today, to keep them safe from police due to being discriminated against by public indecency laws of the time
Weimar Republic itself had some huge advances in the understanding of sexuality and gender identity, and even had the first trans magazine published, however in the early 1930s most of these ID certificates along with gay, lesbian and trans literature and photographs were burned by nazi soldiers and lost, however Toni’s certificate survived and here is our rendition
I’ve simplified a lot of information here so If you want to learn more about the ID cards and Toni here is a great archival resource https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/trans-id-passes-weimar-germany-marcus-hirschfeld
