Meet the Midwesterners
Seriously, here in Texas, to get to the next major city is an hour by plane (which of course means absorbing 5 hours of your day because airports), 3-8 hours by car, or 5-12 hours by Amtrak. If Iâm going to be blowing so much daylight anyway, I might as well do it in the lowest-stress way possible. Train stations for the most part donât have TSA, trains have lovely huge seats in coach like youâd find in first class on a plane, thereâs actually good food on the train. Also, the tickets are cheap; I can go from Austin to Dallas for $25, which is less than gas. Iâve about decided to always try to take the train if I can.
Iâm in this post and please please please give us more trains.
TERFs really out here thinking that male privilege comes from like. The overwhelming aura of the penis and being told not to wear skirts as a kid, and not the fact that manhood is an in-group that trans women are absolutely stricken from.
Male privilege comes from men in power treating me with respect and, well, privilege. And sweetie, thatâs not something that happens once they catch the scent of tranny on me. I am not going to be hired before a cis woman. I am not going to be allowed to talk over men, god forbid cis women. I am not going to get a âboys will be boysâ if I hurt someone, because the minute I challenged my own manhood I turned in that âboyâ card.
Maybe I do act âmanlyâ sometimes. Letâs assume that for argument. The fact is, even if I did that, I do not have patriarchy backing me up; Iâm just a not-man not-woman that no one will defend if I step out of line.
Funny thing about this post is a couple of TERFs got their hands on it and apparently the best argument they can come up with is âYou fucking moron, work discrimination and sexual harassment isnât sexism, REAL sexism is seat belts and doorknob heights.â
To be clear, I am certain that they donât actually believe that sexual harassment doesnât matter but doorknob heights do, theyâre just consciously trying to define feminism in such a way as to exclude trans women which results in them focusing on either stuff that has specifically to do with vaginas (which to be clear our society has a ton of issues to do with ppl with vaginas, but thatâs only one facet of feminism) or grasping at straws to assign the highest importance to skeletal structure.
One of them in the notes even slipped up and blamed office thermometers on âxy skeletal structuresâ which is like. First of all that skeletal structure is associated with testosterone during puberty, second of all bone structure??? You genuinely believe it has to do with bone structure and not hormones and body fat distribution? They donât, of course, but they know thatâs something that trans women have in common with cis women so their ideology of âyou canât change biologyâ requires that they pretend it doesnt exist.
Itâs just so clear as to be comical that TERFs define what feminist issues they do and do not care about by whether or not they can be used to draw a line between them and trans women.
There are feminists who think that workplace discrimination and sexual harassment isnât sexism???Even if theyâre only counting cis women???O_o
Also, what do seatbelts have to do with anything???
I mean, Iâm sure they do care, unless you bring up that trans women have a bigger wage gap than cis women first then itâs not REAL sexism
âŠâŠâŠ..it took me like 5 minutes that everything after âcareâ is referencing the âyouâ as in the transphobes.
And an extra five that you meant theyâre like âwork discrimination and sexual harassment FOR TRANS WOMEN isnât sexismâ
Also, I still donât understand the seatbelt thing and vaguely canât register the doorknob explanation
seatbelt testing uses dummies mostly based on the average adult man, which can be an issue for people whose proportions are different enough from that. Doorknobs are also I guess placed to be convenient for people in the 5âČ9âČâ-6âČ1âČâ range, the idea that thatâs somehow a more pressing issue than transphobia is fucking laughable
On June 30th, 1973, Alberta Williams King was gunned down while she played the organ for the âLordâs Prayerâ at Ebenezer Baptist Church. As a Christian civil rights activist, she was assassinatedâŠjust like her son, Martin Luther King, Jr. But most people remember only one. Until a month ago, I was one of those people.
I never knew this!!!!
Wow is this true? đ
Very true. If you go to the church you can still see the bullet holes and everything.
Yep, I heard about this a few years ago and I was floored. I didnât want to believe it, but this is true.
i always use đand i am always hoping deep in my heart that one day i will send it to someone still on android 4 so it appears asÂ
For the record, this is apparently the result of someone misinterpreting the Unicode reference art without looking at the description sheet. Hereâs the reference art for this particular emoji:
Whomever interpreted this emoji for Android 4.4 apparently thought that this was a heart covered in beard stubble rather than shading dots.

to those who until now lived in blissful ignorance of the fact that misha collinsâ wife is the author of a book called âThe Threesome Handbook: A Practical Guide to Sleeping with Threeâ within which she mentions their experiences with a male friend named only as âDâ (speculated but not proven to be Darius Marder, director of 6 time oscar nominated movie The Sound of Metal): well, uh, guess you know now <3
once a girl reported me to an administrator at school bc i was breaking dresscode and she didnt like me. so i pushed her down the stairs. i just kept walking and i dont think she saw me and i never got caught. i know she got very seriously injured and they had to call an ambulance and she transferred schools bc she knew SOMEONE pushed her and she didnt feel safe. ive never regretted it. its been years since i graduated and im on mood stabilizers now, but sometimes when someone is testing my patience i calm myself down by thinking about how good it felt to snap once and how i cant do that again bc i would go to prison probably
i forget about this post every time and every time it crosses my dash im just smacked with it again
My redesign for the new sonic movie
I will be accepting constructive criticism.
How do I tell people that sometimes if you turn your shipping brain off you can interact with media better
Like I hate to say it but if you canât engage with any media without descending into full-on fandom-style shipping at the expense of the themes, characterization, non-romantic relationships, and general content of the work. You might need to take a step back from shipping and maybe fandom in general. (Also to the people in the notes of this post who are acting like I said shipping in general is terrible: What this post is saying is that if you interact with all media exclusively through a shipping lens you miss a lot of stuff. Iâm not saying donât ship things, Iâm saying use your critical thinking skills.)
âThereâs more to media than romantic relationshipsâ should not be a take which causes so much anger, and yet
ââPrince Phillipâs up there with good ol Maggie now!ââ
No one is better at being lame than lesbians. Mixing flannel and stripes? Lesbians can do it. Making your girlfriend a mixtape? It's cool when a lesbian does it. Anything that's traditionally lame becomes cool once a lesbian decides it's cool.
Lesbians are the Rihannas of lameness. If a lesbian says it's cool to move in with a girl on the third date then it's cool now.
didnât even realize it was a bot because this interaction is so human
