I've been rereading Curse Words to do a final edit before going to print and I don't recall my foreshadowing being this mean.
Also that tooth castle was fucked up. Why did I write that.
I put this about a quarter of the way into book 3, presumably while cackling evilly as lightning struck in the background. Uncalled for, honestly.
#your foreshadowing was SUPER FUCKUNG EVIL#i'm definitely going to reread it as soon as i can get the ebook#do u think u'll ever do paper copies???#also the tooth castle?? was never explained?? that i remember???? lmao
There are paper copies.
little discussed piece of transmasc history is that one of the previous oldest living pair of conjoined twins (who died in 2024) was a trans man! his name was George Schappell & he came out in 2007; unfortunately his family had him deadnamed and misgendered in their obituary, which is part of why he deserves to be talked about more.
he had a career as a country artist, traveled around the US performing, and won an award! his sister considered herself a big fan of his and enjoyed his concerts. he also had spina bifida & used a mobility aids pushed by his sister. PinkNews recently posted this short quoting George on his transition & shows a clip of them talking about respecting one another's autonomy and privacy.
here's some pics of him & his sister Lori:
they died at age 62, which is tragically young but far beyond the life expectancy they were given at birth of only one year. they shared 30% of their brains and were the first known example of a pair of conjoined twins with different genders.
Doctors at my job euthanized a chicken for a client.
Client loved chicken very much and had it sent off for cremation.
We get ashes back and notify client to come pick up.
Client comes to front desk and states they are here for their rotisserie chicken.
I go back to the doctor office and tell the doctor that euthanized the chicken because I think it'll make her laugh. Rotisserie chicken becomes new office meme.
who up training their woke dog to bite children
Damn, they're on to me.
“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”
— Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)
Never fight a guy in a wheelchair in close quarters. Once you're within arm's reach, you're in his melee range, and once he grabs a hold of you, you are FUCKED.
What if we're both in wheelchairs?
You just scoot up your chairs real close to each other and
and what if I told you guys that virtually everyone you ever meet will turn out to be really interesting if you give them a chance
some real miserable fucks in the notes I fear
I'm not even saying you have to talk to every single person you meet. and you're certainly not going to LIKE all of them. but every person does have a rich interior life and complex feelings and unique worldview. sorry.
hey man how's it going
sorry for getting self righteous about uuuuh my belief in the innate wonder of human life and connection I guess
hey man how's it going
wow. made it less than three months in
this is truly one of the most tumblr posts i've ever seen. i know chronically online people exist in all corners of the internet but i feel like this is the only place where someone could say something as uncontroversial as "you will find out that people have personalities when you talk to them" and get responses like "oh so you're making the ABLEIST assertion that i should FORCE MYSELF to push past my SOCIAL ANXIETY to talk to BIGOTS????" amazing work, guys
The Trump administration admits to testing conversion therapy on trans prisoners and implies its policy of forcibly detransitioning trans me

when i say ‘include transmasculine people in your feminism’ i’m not saying ‘feminism is for everyone!’ i’m saying that feminism fundamentally is about misogyny and patriarchy and trans men experience both misogyny and transphobia, which is itself a product of patriarchy, and so should be included in feminism
As a society, we need to go back to understanding that strangers on the internet are, you know, strangers. I feel lately that I'm seeing a rise in 'An author I love blocked me because they took my comment the wrong way' posts on the ao3 subreddit, and then the comment is them calling the author a fucking bitch or something like that.
Don't do this. Tone doesn't translate well in text, and if you don't have a rapport with that author, they are not going to interpret, 'You're a fucking bitch' as, 'Author I hate you for being so talented and making me feel so keenly.' They're going to interpret it as you being an asshole. You can shit talk with your friends because you have an established relationship with them and can distinguish between playful banter and genuine anger. You do not have this with a stranger, no matter how much you like their fics. You will have a much more pleasant time in fandom and not get cockblocked from interacting with your favorite writers if you remember this.
#I don't often see comments like these when I'm reading a fic but there have been a few that made me raise an eyebrow#I don't know if I would block over someone calling me a bitch on a fic I wrote but I'd probs try to gently tell them it's not right#coz honestly I feel like this is an issue with younger age groups who are new to reading fics and might not understand fandom culture#or at least I hope it's younger people who simply don't know better 😬#otherwise... yikes
This isn't some esoteric niche aspect of fandom culture, strangers at the potluck also do not like being called a fucking bitch.
People in the comments like "you just need to add a /pos tone indicator to your comment!": strangers at the potluck do not like being told "You're a bitch!" with a smile and a thumbs up.
Celestial Oak I painted this over a month ago and totally forgot to post it lol
I love the idea of each acorn containing it's very own universe 🌌 I've also been designing some acorn lanterns, photos coming soon!
autism tests are so funny. I'm extremely literal most of the time, but people don't tell me that generally, so I'm inclined to answer disagree. because I'm taking the statement too literally
^not my post but same sentiment
Love character relationships that can only be described as "whatever the fuck these two have going on"
I just stumbled upon an Instagram reel that said something like "I'm probably trans but I'm too much of a misandrist to accept it" with thousands of likes (including a couple of irl friends of mine who know that I'm a trans man...) but sure the queer community doesn't have a problem with men and masculinity and the radfem rhetoric that's been allowed to prosper in queer and feminist spaces these past years is not harmful to trans men at all (/s)
