Phenomenal spare wheel cover I walked past the other day
i'm getting the sense some of you are not actually forklift certified.
well damn . egg on my face
THE PLOT THICKENS @averagejoey2000 explain yourself
I can't believe this is how I'm finding out that I got a scam forklift cert.
I took the cargo ops class at school but my teacher explained that it doesn't give a certification and I'd only be okay for ship's crane and the school forklifts. she said I could take an online exam and get my cert. I paid 60 bucks.
I'm googling and I'm seeing a lot of resources saying that the online programs cover the classroom part of the exam but not the in person practical aspect.
29 CFR 1910.178 (l)(2)(ii)
but I did the in person practical shit at school.
the back of the card even had fancy numbers on it. I couldn't have known that this isn't the one. this website sounded more official than certifyme.net, and there wasn't one with a .gov address.
so, I emailed OSHA, and they said that so long as I live and work in California, there's no such thing as forklift certification. I have to be told how to do it every time I get the job.
Update: I took a certification class in shipboard Material Handling Equipment at my federal job. *now* I'm forklift certified, but only on ships and piers and only for this company, but also rated to forklift explosives and hazardous materials. Also I'm a woman now.
I’d honestly be scared as fuck if a bunch of basic shapes came floating towards me. Yellow Prism. Red Sphere? Fuck that.
Oh huh. This whole time I've been wondering how the fuck have I been so bad with money lately, I've never run out of grocery money in the middle of the month before, and this month's going to be teetering to pay off the credit from last month since I've been borrowing from the next month a little bit by the end weeks for a while.
So apparently it's not my spending habits, I just hadn't taken into account that since my income comes in as dollars and the worth of a dollar has taken a goddam nosedive, that's bitten a sizable chunk out of my ass.
Can somebody just kill that evil orange so we can all start scrambling towards some semblance of normalcy.
genuinely SO sick of that thing in media where a character doesn't want to have sex and it's treated like some kind of barrier to be overcome or problem to be fixed. Reading a book that treats it somewhat like that right now, and it genuinely made me question myself for a second, what the fuck. This is truly the first time I have ever had a thought along the lines of "what if my asexuality means I'm broken", and that was awful. Horrid. Fuck this.
This is a legitimate and damaging cultural shift for all involved parties and it needs to be addressed.
not letting children have age-appropriate amounts of privacy and autonomy stunts development and damages mental health in measurable and consequential ways. it also creates a child-rearing culture where parents are not expected or equipped or supported to prepare children for autonomy of any kind, which is a major contributor to problems young people AND their parents are currently facing and how hard their lives have become. there are ways for children to have both adequate freedom and adequate safety and if i had a ten year old with a GPS locator and always-on listening device strapped to him 24/7 i would throw him out the front door with his bicycle, a battery pack and a machete every morning starting the first day of summer vacation. and then i would be arrested, but everyone at family court would get sick of my bullshit immediately
people underestimate the amount of community oversight children had Back In the Day, too
my mother went to a middle school (mid-1960s) that required a train trip from her town. after school, she'd get off the train and go to the soda fountain near the station for a snack, then walk home
she always thought she did this alone, no supervision. it wasn't until adulthood that she learned the truth: the owner of the soda fountain knew her mother, and would call after she left to say that she was on her way home. Grandma trusted that other adults would look out for her child, while returning the favor if their children were ever in her orbit
it wasn't a constant hovering, but adults were keeping an eye on her in ways she didn't see. she got to experience that autonomy while still being watched over to an extent
see i think when a Final Girl kills a Slasher she should automatically inherit his mantle
the sequel should reveal that the previous movie's Final Girl is the sequel's Slasher. like a curse
wait. make it a metaphor extended allegory for transitioning
Was talking to my mom about pap smears and said “I don’t want to be penetrated” instead of “I don’t want to get the procedure”
She thought it was funny
This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.
Reblogging so you know which sites to totally avoid
Another inside tip from academia: Those papers in really expensive journals that are effectively inaccessible to anyone not in a university network? Depending on the discipline it’s very likely that same paper is on a “preprint” server somewhere, with no access restrictions.
Like if you want to read basically any physics, math, or CS paper, arXiv.org will have you covered, because everyone uploads their papers there before submitting to a journal (and generally updates it after peer review). I know all of my papers are on there. This is such common practice that journals have it baked into their licensing agreements that authors retain the right to upload their work to these places.
So the next time you get hit with that paywall, you may not even need sci-hub, just click the arxiv link on google scholar instead.
if for some reason none of this works, the old “send a email nicely asking for the paper to the author” is always a good trick. remember most scientists hate the commercialisation of scientific knowledge
Don’t mind me, just gotta share this with my bf so that he knows what websites to avoid
Many authors of papers are on ResearchGate! You can ask for papers there, if they don’t just post a copy to download. If they’re associated with a college, you can usually find their email addresses in the department directory, also.
Always reblog.
Another creature for my keyring
Every time there's a little man who wants to be racist or homophobic or transphobic around me, I repost even MORE BIPOC/trans/gay art
~oooohhh noooo~
I happen to be ~very~ cripplingly homophobic.
I hope you don't repost ~any more~ art!

let’s be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
I’ll never understand why anthropomorphic animal cartoons like Robin Hood and Zootopia will go to the trouble of creating character designs that are meant to be understood as “attractive” or even “sexy” to the human audience but explicitly avoid showing interspecies romances between anthropomorphic animals. Why is THAT weird but, like, trying to make rabbits recognizably sexy-coded to humans isn’t?
Sometimes, sure, but why was Maid Marian a fox in Robin Hood? There wasn’t anything particularly “foxlike” about her personality, and it would make more sense for her to be a lion. They made her a fox only because Robin was a fox and making her something else would be “weird”, but I don’t think the wolf cop or the chicken maid or the lion prince were actually meant to represent race.
The best inter species couple is Kermit and Miss Piggy as the Cratchits in A Muppet Christmas Carol, because all their sons are frogs and all their daughters are pigs, as God clearly intended.
there are only two genders: frog and pig
I’ve pointed out to my friends that the fact that Kermit and Miss Piggy’s kids are like that means either
1) they reproduce asexually and the children are clones of each parent OR
2) Kermit and Miss Piggy are members of the same sexually dimorphic species, hence the split between their male and female children
yes I have spent too long running about potential muppet biology
oh god
Third option, when they want kids they get some fabric and make one, and hope a Hand inhabits it
Do you think there’s a ritual for inviting An Inhabiting Hand to possess the empty husk of your muppet baby?
Just wanted to show u guys that in Muppets Most Wanted, Piggy fantasizes about her and Kermit having babies and this is what they look like
So do with that what you will
Recall that in The Great Muppet Caper, Kermit and Fozzie are brothers. And this was their dad (right):
Thank you for specifying, which one of the two individuals in the picture was the dad haha
I, for one, think Shrek handled interspecies coupling the best. By this I am of course talking about the Dronkeys.
In season 3 of BoJack Horseman, we learn Diane (middle) has been impregnated by Mr. Peanutbutter (left). The fetuses are confirmed to be puppies.
This is the worst addition to this post
I am reminded of Treasure Planet.
In which Captain Amelia (left), an extra terrestrial anthropomorphic cat, had hybrid babies with Doctor Doppler (middle), an extra terrestrial anthropomorphic dog, whom also gave birth to the babies
I always thought that in muppet movies like muppet Christmas Carol the characters are played by the muppets (so kermit is acting and playing the role of Bob rather than being him) so the kids in that film would just be other acting muppets right?
Or is that just something my brain made up?
Last time I saw this post (YESTERDAY) it stopped at the second Eggman

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
anyone in this thread smoke weed
In Leo the Lion (2005) a lion and elephant have the most cursed hybrid children and I think yall should see them
(also Matt Mercer voices the villain, Maximus Elefante and I think that’s very important)
I think that what they are talking about is perfectly clear.
