thoughts on season 3

i would say that this season did the absolute best job of combining the showcasing of characters and relationships with and incredible plot line. the introductions of new characters didn’t feel forced and they all had purposes that helped advance the plot, but they had traits that made them real and not just tools for the furthering of the story. the plot line in terms of the monsters (and russians lol) was maybe the most interesting for me personally out of the three seasons because it worked so fluidly with the characters and with the way that the episodes were structured- it was exciting to see the connections made between the different plots. i hope that they continue to use the platform that they have with this show to teach lessons as well as keep it an interesting show. something that doesn’t happen often enough in television are moments such as when el and mike break up and max shows her how to be her own person, as well as the conversation that nancy and her mom have in the kitchen which explained the disadvantage nancy was at as a woman. the show does an fantastic job of teaching lessons, having an intricate plot and overall just being incredibly entertaining and i think that this season really brought all of that to even higher levels.

this is just my guess: but thanksgiving 2020 is probably when we can expect stranger things season 4

1. the past two seasons have come out on/around generally american holidays

2. it takes them around that many months to make each season

I just remember Millie & Noah saying/joking that they were pretty sure the camera crew couldn’t stand filming them together after the scene of El finding Will in the Void in S1 because they kept trying to make each other laugh almost the entire time when it was being filmed.

Yep. Both scenes Will is supposed to be knocked out and unconscious or barely alive so imagine Noah bursting out into laughter because Millie slyly made a stupid face 

And you know what, this is what I want for them in the show. lol. Intentionally and unintentionally making each other laugh because they need some joy in their lives

A Breakdown Of The Stranger Things 3 Trailer

In the opening scene where Dustin is following the toys that Eleven is moving, we can see the dynamic of the group- closer than they were in ST2 and Eleven being closer to all of them

From the Dinner and TV Dinner shots of Hopper and Joyce and the conversation where he’s says ‘this can still be your home’, we know that they will show a development of their relationship, but the direction is not known

With the scene where Mike says they’re not kids anymore, Dustin is alone and Will looking at the picture, we can see that there will be a strong emphasis on characters and relationships like the other seasons (as opposed an Upside Down storyline emphasis)

Nancy and Jonathan are still together

Max and Eleven are going to be seen together a lot this season (mall scene, the photo booth? where they’re wearing the hats, the fair picture )and that’s going to be interesting since we haven’t seen either interact with girls their age and Eleven started by hating Max

The protest signs, idk why but they’re having an anti-establishment and gentrification protest against the city for developing the mall downtown (signs say ‘support downtown’ and ‘recall the mall’)

In the fair scene where you see the man with the gun walking in the purple lights- they’re still not done with the lab’s manipulation is most likely what this means

In the scenes where Eleven goes to the black space in her mind (Upside Down), standing on the beach alone (with the red lights reminiscent of ST2), and drowning in the water- we see how they may push her away from the group and have her alone for a while like is S2 (but not for as long this time since we see so many scenes where she’s with them)

The scenes where the entire group goes down the escalators and runs out of the building shows that they’re all working together and reminds me of the end of ST1

Dustin and Steve’s relationship is going to continue to develop

All in all, if there’s one thing that we can agree on, ‘one summer can change everything’ is a stupid tag line

What she says: I’m fine

What she means: Dustin told Mike that he and Lucas were best friends and Mike refuted it adamantly - because the party were all best friends equally - and then backed it up by literally stepping off a cliff knowing full well he was gonna die just so the bullies wouldn’t hurt Dustin. He chose to die for Dustin. Not only is that part of the scene entirely underrated by the fandom and overshadowed by El saving him and the cute Group Hug, it’s so critical in showing how far Mike is willing to go to keep his friends safe.

let’s just think about this, in a few years the kids will be all grown, no more episode of stranger things, no more Dustin’s grrrr or lumax & mileven no fan accounts, no more posters, no more edits, no more stanning or shipping. In a few years we will have an occasional flashback soon enough the kids will be doing even more mature movies and tv shows, winning even more awards. In the end, we will see them on somewhere and say that’s that kid who inspired to pursue my dream or that that kid who supported me during the hardest time of my life.

Stranger Things is a part of our lives. We shouldn’t waste time wanting the next season to come, we should just enjoy what we have.
