DemiVeemon -> ? -> Gabumon

DemiVeemon are playful and energic creatures, that generally don’t concern themselves with the perils of the surrounding world. But every now and then, a DemiVeemon finds itself forming a brotherly/sisterly/distant admiration bond with Garurumon. When that happens, DemiVeemon starts to take things a bit more seriously and begins to compare itself to the likes of Garurumon to see how far it needs to go to become a Garurumon itself. Usually DemiVeemon get the choice to follow Garurumon’s footsteps later after reaching the Rookie Level, where they as Veemon can Armor Digivolve into the Garurumon-like Raidramon.

Koboldomon is the Digital Fogrise induced stage in which DemiVeemon starts to resemble Garurumon’s pre-digivolution Gabumon physically. Koboldomon is very self-conscious and aims to digivolve as soon as possible, finding it’s current lagform too awkward looking. To do so, Koboldomon seeks the data Garurumon or it’s digivolutions leave behind, which can be a hard task to accomplish in the Lagform Domain where there are mostly just lagforms. As a result, Koboldomon ofter wanders outside Lagform Domain, even if doing so it exposes itself to lagform-despising bullies and other hardships.

Gabumon, that has digivolved from Koboldomon is even more cautious than the normal Gabumon, but also has gained enough experience to not allow this cautiousness to stunt itself. Gabumon, every now and then, returns to the Lagform Domain to share it’s Garurumon data with undigivolved Koboldomon to save them the trouble of wandering into more dangerous territories. Gabumon also teaches the Koboldomon (and DemiVeemon, aspiring to be Garurumon) how to properly use the Gabumon Line attacks and strategies.

While it’s not clear in which Digimon media the digivolution from DemiVeemon/Chibimon to Gabumon takes place, it can be found as an option in this site featuring Digimon Digidex.

DemiVeemon/Chibimon and Gabumon belong to the Digimon franchise while Koboldomon is a fan-made lagvolution.

These digifakes are part of my project that is about designing transitional stages between official digimon. These stages are named “lagforms” which is based on the reasoning that lag would cause Digimon to digivolve only gradually or only 50 % halfway. I decided to combine all the Digifakes I have made in this post, so I can focus on making new ones between the times I try sharing them.

Eftmon is a transitional lagform stage between the blob-like Chibomon and amphibious Betamon. It has sideways flattened tail and a semi-bouyant body. It feels mobile and agile in water, while on land all it can do is roll. Eftmon is docile and friendly, but will zap electric shocks and those who pick it up out of the water, since then it feels helpless and threatened.

Chidragomon is a transitional lagform stage between the blob-like Chibomon and the hopping, dragon child Demiveemon. Like Eftmon on land, Chidragomon mostly roll or waddle and are generally clumsy but well-meaning. Part of their clumsiness is attributed to their still developing sight. It also may roll around in sleep and starts show more interest about eating, often gnawing on inedible objects too.

Monosynapsimon is a transitional lagform stage between the blob-like Chibomon and the quite rough and tough dragon digimon Monodramon. Monosynapsimon is unable to rely on larger digimon for protection since they aren’t as charming as they were as Chibomon. Due to this Monosynapsimon gets all angsty, but also realizes that it has to train it’s combat skills all by itself.

Snowcrustmon is a transitional lagform stage between the blob-like Chibomon and the icy Snowagumon. It tries it best to maneuver itself through snow and will also ingest the snow if necessary, since due to it’s data, eating snow causes no harm to it. Warmth causes Snowcrustmon to become tired and drowsy. It likes following and mimicking stronger Snow-type Digimon.

Chibomon lagdigivolution tree is complete after time full of chores and distractions. Note, that I’m not ready yet to add in fullyhumanoid, overly-clothed and repetitive looking digimon (like color-swaps, thus for not it’s going to be mostly just digimon resembling lifeforms, simplistic robots, yokai or cartoonish semi-anthropomorphic ones.

Chibomon -> SnowAgumon

Chibomon that is supposed to evolve into SnowAgumon shows interest and will to play in snowy areas. It is only marginally affected by snow at all and sneezes not because it's gotten ill but because snowflakes tickled it's nose. Snow is also the preferable hiding spot for Chibomon. However, one thing is rather difficult for this variety of Chibomon, they cannot exactly move through snow quickly with their jumping and rolling. So, via the effect of Digital Fogrise they, instead of digivolving, start slowly developing limbs and their head tuft becomes are more stiffer tail.

Snowcrustmon uses it's limbs to move more quickly through the snow. It both digs and even eats the snow that is in front of it. In Snowcrustmon's body snow is quickly converted into data that merges with data that forms it's outer body. Snowcrustmon acts more independent than typical Chibomon and prefers sticking mostly only to snow-typed Digimon. If the weather starts getting to warm, Snowcrustmon gets tired and drowsy, it seeks shadows and will gladly migrate back to areas where snow remains for much longer. Eventually Snowcrustmon is capable of standing up as their tails shrink more and both palms and feet grow bigger.

SnowAgumon has been having it's fair share of goofing off while it was a Snowcrustmon so it is a bit more mature now. It is good at acting like an older sibling to younger snow Digimon. It has a tendency to scout the area for something that might be a threat and is automatically alarmed if it sees a fire or sand Digimon. SnowAgumon practices each day so that it's Little Blizzard would become more stronger without immediately having to evolve into a Champion level Digimon.

The digivolution of Chibomon into SnowAgumon is canon to Digimon Story: Sunburst & Moonlight.

Chibomon to Monodramon

Chibomon have curious natures that causes them to often find themselves in unorthodox situations. They also have a tendency to form attachments to other Digimon. In some cases Chibomon can end up with more brutish Digimon which causes the impressionable Chibomon to develop possible digivolution capacity into the violent Monodramon. While ordinary digivolving process is able to change Chibomon's nature in an instant (though they don't make as violent Monodramon as those that digivolve from Hopmon), accidentaly ending up in Digital Fogrise changes that. Now their personality has time to change gradually. The lag-affected Chibomon attempt to get a rise from different Digimon which due to their still diminutive size tends to backfire. But Chibomon don't give up and eventually start lagvolving limbs, stronger tail, teeth and the headbutts they deliver cause them to develop small head armor, thus making Chibomon become Monosynapsimon.

Monosynapsimon still tend to form attachements to larger brutish Digimon but this relationship diminishes as since the Monosynapsimon are bigger and less endearing their guardians eventually chase them away. Being young Monosynapsimon don't understand that and tend to take it as a betrayal. However that is not enough to facilite their turn into Virus-attributes. Despite their natures, Monosynapsimon still recognize whether a Digimon is data, vaccine and virus. They practice and train every day and live by the motto to pay mean onto mean. Subtly, as they try standing on two legs and use their front legs as arms, the skin near their armpits start to stretch out and form into bat-like wings, signifying their potential as dragon digimon.

Monodramon that lagvolved from Monosynapsimon are more emotional than the standart Monodramon. They are still pretty violent, but can be incapacitated through ridicule and trickery which causes them lash out in a more disorganized pattern. Much like with normal Monodramon, lag-volved Monodragmon's upper horn is thought to be their weak spot and to some extent it is true - upper horn tends to be the one that gradually wears out a bit from the headbutts (specifically those practiced by those going through Monosynapsimon stage) and as such may cause Monodramon some pain which does make them a bit unfocused. That is also the reason why Monodramon tends to use more attacks such as Crack Bite and Beat Knuckle as those attacks don't involve physically using the head.

Chinomon -> Monodramon digivolution is canon in Digimon Story Moonlight / Sunburst.

Chicomon to Betamon lagvolution

Chibomon may, on some occurances, evolve into Betamon who is an amphibian Digimon. Since it's affected by the Digital Fogrise, that causes Chibomon to gradually turn into a newt-like In-training lagform called Yochimorimon (a young newt). Chibomon's head swirl begins to slowly move to it's back to give it a boost, but additionally absorbing data from real-life newts, the swirl becomes flatter and swishes sideways just like a amphibian tail. A transparent, gelatinous precursor of the Betamon's fin forms from what was once Chibomon's forehead. Chibomon’s body becomes partially filled with air and it can regulate how full it is. The Yochimorimon transformation is completed by the additional growth of small, slightly flattened legs which also resemble fins with nails. Yochimorimon's body leaves it a bit helpless on the land since its legs don't yet have much strength and stability out of water, leaving Yochimorimon balancing on it's stomach though it can still roll. From this point on, Yochimorimon's eyes will become more crimson, its tail will shorten and become more round and thicker and it's legs will develop stronger muscles. Personality-wise Yochimorimon is friendly and docile and can control it's curiosity unlike Chibomon. Its electric powers are still weak and it can just generate enough voltage to lightly tell someone not to hold it.

Chibomon, like many other Digimon, may happen to run into a weather condition called Digital Fogrise which afflicts their digivolutionary power with lag. It causes Chibomon to replace it's data gradually, eventually lag-digivolving into Chidragomon, a toddler lag-level Digimon. Chidragomon are round and have to deal with their round bodies a.s well as it's eyes adjusting to better sight. The keep falling down and, therefore, prefer rolling. Chidragomon preserves it's friendly personality but may accidentally burp on it's friends due to power inconvenience considering it's acidic bubble attack. It starts to display more attachment to behaviors like food and will try gnawing on inedible things. When it falls asleep it may roll around and occasionally end up in trouble. As they slowly lag-volve into Demiveemon they become leaner and are finally able to use their arms which were too stubby before and were useful just for preventing rolling at high speeds. Due to having to endure some problems while in their Toddler Level, Demiveemon lagvolved from Chidragomon are a bit more insecure and prefer staying close to their friends more often.

A rocky, laggy start.

Welcome to this seemingly ordinary blog. It’s about fan-made digimon forms, except they are not the forms fans of the series are used to. This blog is inspired by @inprogresspokemon and as such takes some elements from that particular tumblr blog.

As a starting note, the focus of this blog is the Digital Lagform Domain a place where digimon affected by strange weather called Lagrise Fog, reside. All these digimon have stuck having to gradually reassemble their data into the next digivolution which results in them gaining a middle form, a mix between ther previous and next digivolutions. Life is tough for Digimon stuck in lagforms, so they find it easier to reside in the Lagform Domain to prevent awkward interactions between them and normally digivolved Digimon.

Blog notes:

Humanoid and mostly human-like digimon lagforms will be avoided due to the possible NSFW effect which may arise in the transitions between sexualized human forms and beastly forms as well due to the fact the @cdbeetle43 cannot draw humans very well.

Also the submission will be mostly drawings of three having the middle “lagform“ and the forms it respectively digivolved from and into as well as info concerning the process.

With that the blog is launched and probably will grow more. The credit for this blog’s birth goes to @inprogresspokemon author who is aware that this particular blog exists. Their pokemon transition forms and the sheer effort put into them is truly amazing.
