Flour Fiascos Main Characters
These are the main characters of Flour Fiascos: Maria, Abigail, and Ayesha. These women are all work at the bakery of Dulce Delights and go to the HBCU of Fairhaven University.
Name: Maria Elena Martinez-Montanez
Ethnicity: Afro-Cuban, African-American, & Black Seminole
Description: Maria assumes the role of the group's leader and serves as the primary protagonist. Her stressed and level-headed nature sets her apart from the rest of the cast. Maria, which could be caused by her OCD, highly values perfection and cleanliness. She checks for every little detail, worried someone might notice something that will discourage them from ever entering her bakery again. She’s also a big germaphobe, who feels grossed out by any unsanitary places, and whenever she touches something disgusting, she begins to disassociate from literal reality. Additionally, Maria stands out as the most intelligent member of the group, with her being a top student at her college, or really just in general, however, that doesn't mean she's the nerd character, she's just smart.
Additional Information: In terms of physical stature, Maria stands as the tallest among the main female characters, with a height of 5'7". Maria is not the greatest when it comes to picking the right partners in a relationship if you look at her track record, she’s a woman who gets into relationships often because she wants a man to be there for her emotionally and physically, but this often ends up with her getting with the bottom of the barrel men and regretting it much afterwards. Maria also develops a drinking problem throughout the series, but in the beginning, she starts off drinking soda and that's it.
Name: Abigail Danielle Amaury
Ethnicity: Afro-Haitian & African-American
Description: Abigail is a bubbly and upbeat individual who holds a positive view of people, believing that goodness resides within everyone's heart. However, her hyperactive, naive, and talkative nature sometimes leads her to overdo it, not knowing when to stop talking or being too nosy. Abigail tends to be also clumsy and disorganized, with her tripping over things or having the worst computer screen of all time with images and programs everywhere.
Now, one thing she’s good at is being a wiz in pop culture, with often making pop culture references during anything especially in her writing or in the car. Another bad thing about Abigail is her being a doormat, Abigail is too nice for some people and people can and will take advantage. For example, Harrison takes advantage of Abigail’s kind personality to further mess with the trio even more… However if pushed too far, Abigail can show anger and will strike back, but only on rare occasions.
Additional Information Abigail, unlike the other girls in the trio, doesn’t hate Harrison, now she still doesn’t like him, but she’s way more forgiving towards him compared to Maria and Ayesha. Abigail also isn’t the most faithful partner in a relationship. Just look at her relationship with Kepa and you’ll see what I mean.
Religion: Progressive Sunni
Description: Ayesha is an outspoken, short-tempered, and passionate woman who strongly advocates for progressive values. When expressing her opinions, she can sometimes come across as preachy or loud. Which sometimes annoys Maria and Abigail, who most of the time agree with her values, but just don’t want to hear them right now. She has a tendency to create rivalries with customers because of differing political views, but beyond politics, Ayesha is pretty shy and meek, with her exclusively being known around campus as, “The Activist Girl.”
She is socially awkward with people she doesn’t know and a lot of interests come from fiction and non-fiction books instead of movies and video games. Now, this is because she just prefers books over movies or documentaries, because of the amount of detail in them and how long they can go on for.
Additional Information: Aye is also a vegan, won’t eat or drink anything from an animal, out of the reason, for environmental reasons and animal rights. She also still identifies as a Muslim, specifically a progressive Sunni Muslim, and although, she follows most of the rooms. She breaks two taboos , being a lesbian and being in a relationship before marriage. Well one, because she follows a progressive form of Islam that allow same-sex attraction, but she heavily stresses her out with this as she hasn't come out to her family and doesn't want them to find out about her relationship with Abigail. And she is put at a crossroads between her faith and her girlfriend, with her being confused about her future with Abigail and if she wants to live her life as a lie or be ostracized forever because of her sexuality. Away from that heavy circumstance and back to books and food, before working at Dulce Delights, she worked with her friend, “Martha” at the SOCafe, a socialist-themed cafe spot.
