In an era where aesthetics and labels are put at such high value, we seem to have forgotten how multifaceted we are as humans and how much of a blessing that is. We all have more than one version of ourselves, we are all a unique creation molded by an innumerable amount of people, emotions, experiences, and so much more.
I am the joyful warmth of the sun and the lizard that basks in it's heat, I am the quiet serenity of the moon and the moth it guides, and I am the transition of dusk and dawn as cycles end while others begin.
I am the trees grounded in layers of soil and the animals which feast upon its fruit, I am the heavens solitary and mysterious which moves in its own time, and I am the clouds that lay in between which paints a new picture every day.
Some people nowadays think that claiming so many different aspects of myself means I'm performative, when really I'm in tune to all that I've learned about myself, the world around me, and all the layers of who I am of throughout the experiences of my life and beyond. Don't let people cherry pick and decide for you what one version of yourself you should only be.
This reminds me of the gods and divinity in general, we truly are walking spirits, bundles of experiences wrapped in a physical sensory packed body, experiencing ourselves.
using violence to liberate people from sweatshops, unsafe mines, and grinding poverty isn't the same as using violence to impose those things on people. the idea that violence is morally repugnant regardless of context is a belief that every oppressor throughout history would love for the oppressed to hold
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.

You do not need visualization skills to do energy work, perform magick, be a witch, or anything in between.
Rituals, spirit work, spells, divination, and so on have been practiced through so many other means than just visualization since practically the dawn of humanity. There are four other mundane and psychic senses than just eyesight and clairvoyance that you can utilize.
Raise and direct your energy via movement, your breath, and music. Meditate through automatic writing/drawing, or focus on how energy feels in different locations. Hone your intuition by asking for and noticing observable signs or listening to the voices of spirits and discerning them from your own inner voice.
Visualization is just one of many tools you can potentially use. Not have to.
"Visualize" is, I feel, such a misleading term that most authors are actually using to prompt people to "imagine strongly" or to "call into their mind". And it creates a lot of unnecessary confusion and frustration for those who don't have a visually oriented mind. An experience can be mentally called in in more ways than just strict mental imagery. Imagining experiences through sounds, smells tactile sensation or ever narration can be just as effective means of directing focus.
it exists to divide the working class. All labour is skilled labour. Yes including that one. Yes, including that one too.
Do you know what's unskilled labour? Owning capital. There's no labour involved, thus requires no skill. And you can tell because people can be born into owning capital.
As much as it can make me and so many others feel very overwhelmed...
Physical cleaning is so underrated in witchcraft.
I feel like most of the time when witches talk about cleaning, they're primarily talking about energetic cleaning. Even when physical cleaning is involved it's "use the broomstick to sweep away the bad energy," "open your windows," and "recipe for a cleansing room spray," and so on, but nothing terribly thorough.
I just spent three and a half hours cleaning my room, no magick other than my spirit guides' candle lit to help keep me locked in with some video essays rolling in the background. Several surfaces and items have been dusted for the first time in months, I filled two garbage bags with trash and two more with donations, and rearranged all my drawers and shelves.
And no recent magickal cleansing method has made me feel so relaxed and at ease in so long.
I honestly wasn't expecting it! Usually deep cleaning makes me feel quite exhausted, but this is more of a satisfactory exhaustion. Like a physical weight I never knew was there has been lifted off my chest. Now I'm rewarding myself with a nice bath using the bath bomb that my boyfriend made for me!
All in all, thorough physical cleaning is extremely important for everyone's mental and spiritual wellbeing. It doesn't have to be all at once like what I did, it just has to be done in general. And don't be afraid to ask for help from a friend or family member if you need it!
The physical too is a spirit that is often overlooked. Is raising energy in spellwork not focusing so intently and dedicating time, and energy to it? Physical cleaning is amazing because you are doing all the things needed in raising energy, you are focusing, you are moving, you are sometimes singing, you are altering your physical environment, is that not magical? Maybe I romanticize life too much, but is that not so cool how the physical can shift your mood just as much as spiritual can?
Forgive my ramblings please, there is not a coherent thought that does not intertwine with another in my mind.
Something I think about often is this "the physical body is also a spirit and not enough people want to acknowledge that. spirit work isn't just about the intangible" by a tumblr user by the name of vitterdotter
The Earth is covered in corpses. We breathe the air the dead exude, eat the food they nourished with their decay, pour their remains into our cars, wear them and sleep on them. And then we call them scary without even noticing that they are present in every single thing of our lives. We live because of the dead.
Hello, everyone! I've been considering making YouTube videos that are short guides on beginning worship with specific deities (one video = one deity). I've been throwing around the idea of making a YouTube channel for a long while now, but I'm curious if anyone would actually watch/appreciate these videos. I'd likely produce other topics as well, but this would be a start. Please let me know your thoughts!
Would you watch simple guides videos about beginning worship of a specific deity?
Hey, don't be afraid of things that challenge your faith. Seriously, don't.
Either they'll give you a new perspective on things, or you'll become more secure and confident in your current beliefs. But avoiding the hard questions leaves you in an echo chamber with half-baked ideas and an insecurity in yourself. Step out of your comfort zone so you have room to grow.
The sea is a temple. The woods are a temple. Your own bedroom is a temple. The world is imbued with the spiritual. Worship is an act, not a place, and it can happen spontaneously, in reaction to the beauty of a moment.
I love the casual substitution of "gods" instead of "god" in colloquial sayings. "oh my gods" "gods, my feet hurt" etc etc. like yeah deconstruct the societal standard of monotheism with me. let's party
