Holy shit this episode was crazy! Morty losing his empathy means he’s losing the main reason he keeps coming back after fights. Def the next time things go to shit Morty’s going to bail and I’m so excited for Rick to finally deal with the consequences of being an asshole. And I wonder how he’ll get Morty back with his empathy gone like will Rick actually have to start benefiting Morty in some way?? I’ve been waiting for years to see the tables turn and have Rick be the one chasing Morty who’s ditching him and I’m so glad it’s finally here. Poor Morty definitely deserves a nice long break from being his family’s (mostly Rick’s) emotional punching bag.

Also I wonder how much losing his empathy has changed Morty? Like obviously he was a lot more comfortable killing a bunch of aliens but how far does that extend? Does he still want to do good in general or is he more apathetic now? And at the end where he didn’t enjoy the Pokémon cards is he like devoid of other feelings too or just empathy?

Ahhhhh this episode had so many implications I’m very excited to see how things pan out in the last two episodes!

The new episode was sooo good. Idk why it was just so whimsical. Kinda gave Disney’s the sword and the stone vibes. And Morty becoming a plant and lowk a god-like figure to all the other prisoners was so fascinating. I feel like this episode more so than others really showcased how powerful Morty is when he’s not stuck in Rick’s shadow. And I can’t believe they let him be the first to break out even though he got killed right after.

So far this season has been full of bangers, the writers have really balanced the heavy parts of Rick and Morty’s relationship fracturing with the fun sci-fi adventure elements well. Excited to see the season finale when everything comes to a head but I’m really enjoying the ride there too.

Sooooo after watching the first 2 eps of RaM season 9 I definitely think this is leading up to a Morty independence arc/RaM break-up arc. Right?? Hopefully they both come out better on the other end of it; Rick finds a new purpose (and starts respecting Morty more) and Morty gets a good self esteem boost and finds his footing outside of Rick. I do think it’ll get so much worse before it gets better tho 😭

Just watched episode 4 things are def going downhill 😵‍💫 I lwk hope that when Morty does leave/run away he actually stays away for more than like 2 episodes. New prediction is he leaves in finale and season 10 is his solo era (/rick groveling era). Like that wld be sooooo good. Bonus points if he joins up with like evil Morty or some other Rick-adjacent replacement. Ready to watch Rick SUFFER bc of his own actions in relation to Morty.

Also do y’all think Rick will get sober bc Morty leaves him? Like it seems there’s a lot of focus on his alcoholism this season.

Idk on one hand I really hope they’re dynamic changes so Morty can be happy and get the treatment he deserves but on the other hand I find their toxic (borderline-incestuous) codependency so fascinating. Like the past few seasons were good but they didn’t have as many solo adventures with just the two of them and I hope them getting healthier doesn’t mean they go back to barely doing anything together.

I try to stay out of the fandom beef but I saw a tweet that Dean would choose Cas over Sam and I fear that some of you don't watch scenes that Cas isn't in. Dean literally tells Sam there's nothing that he would put in front of Sam and he is SPECIFICALLY responding to Sam thinking Dean would choose Cas or Benny over him.

You know I didn’t think about it until today, but the craziest fucking thing about the finale, out of all the plot holes and inconsistencies and bad writing, is that we never got a Jane/El funeral, we never saw anyone (other than Mike kinda) grieve. Like it’s absolutely fucking mental to kill off one of your main characters and there’s not a single funeral/group mourning scene. Wdym we didn’t get the party absolutely breaking down? Or at least visiting her grave with flowers after graduation??? All we got was half hearted kiss and a bit of survivor’s guilt from her gay boyfriend that’s literally so devastating. Like this can’t be it…

Had a dream last night that I was told by one of the cast members (can’t remember who tho) that there in fact is a secret ninth episode and it was coming out either tonight or on Friday (and yes byler canon and everyone else gets a good ending too). The Suffers bad writing has got me so down bad for conformitygate that it’s infected my dreams jfc… I’m going crazy y’all 🫩 I can’t keep holding out hope this is insane

I’m sure they’ll tell us in the real finale but what sorta jobs do you think the party would get in the future?

Dustin would be a professor or researcher, likely of theoretical physics. He’s totally the type to get in fights with fellow researchers when they question his wormhole “theories”.

Mike and Will I think would make graphic novels together. Mike on the story, Will on the drawings obvs. And they’d probably make very queer-coded characters.

Lucas, I feel like would be a therapist. He’s really good at reading people and he’s always trying to help his friends figure out their problems (and is often successful with his advice). Also I think a lot of people glaze over how much everything that’s happened has affected him (even before all the Max stuff) and his friends so I feel like he’d probably work with children and maybe specialize in PTSD.

Max I could see becoming a social worker or investigator for CPS, I think she’d definitely want to save kids from abusive homes. I think social worker would be to help kids who’ve already escaped. But investigator would be good for helping kids who are still stuck like she was.

El I think would be a first responders, most likely a firefighter. In real disaster zones I think she’d use her powers to clear debris while no-one’s watching and maybe resuscitate victims if she hones the power she used on Max? Also added bonus she would always be able to wear her helmet when they’re being filmed on TV so the military wouldn’t be able to identify people.

And then in the 2010’s they’d all start making a DnD podcast together, El would not be on it but she’d be like editor or something. Also they’d all live in the same city, maybe even in the same neighborhood, there’s no way they all just go off and live separately after all they’ve been through together.

Jimmy asked for one word to describe “The Rightside Up” and Caleb said this. Is this in reference to Vecna? This interview was like 3 weeks ago so before ep 8 aired and I feel like the main crew wasn’t at their most powerful in that episode, at least not more so than they have been in the past. Vecna however showed up with MANY new powers. He definitely more powerful than he had been in the past even though he allegedly lost in the end.
