Here’s an old aro meme from 2011, which was before the rise of the “Ace Discourse” around 2015 (which may have started out as backlash in response to The Trevor Project deciding to include asexual people around that time). This meme format uses an aardvark to represent aromantic people. At the time, axolotls were often used in similar memes to represent asexuals, so the aromantic aardvark was chosen as the aromantic equivalent of the asexual axolotl. Aardvarks were considered to be somewhat of a mascot for the aromantic community for some time, though they have become less popular as a symbol in recent years.

Toriel's Leitmotif Is Not Heartache and ASGORE Does Not Include His Ex's Leitmotif While Hers Does Not Have His: A Reference Post For Me Specifically

First point: What is Toriel's leitmotif? The song most directly and strictly associated with Toriel is her battle theme, Heartache , which does share a motif with ASGORE. However, this motif is only in these two tracks.

Toriel's leitmotif is actually Fallen Down: it's found there (when you first meet her), in Fallen Down (Reprise) when she returns, and in Bring It In, Guys! when it's showing her in the credits.

It also plays when Tenna mentions her in Chapter 3 of Deltarune (unfortunately this meme which adds december black knife at the end is the easiest clip I can find of this lol). I think this pretty solidly cements that it's her primary motif (cf. His Theme for Asriel and Vs. Susie for Susie).

Okay, so what is the Heartache/ASGORE motif then?

I'm willing to concede the point that its presence in ASGORE is obviously meant to signal to the player as a callback to Heartache, given that that is the order they occur in game, but I think thematically it's doing more than that.

There's a lot of parallels between the two fights, and I think tying them in with a common leitmotif cements that. Both are fights between the Dreemurr parents, king and queen, both use fire magic and have similar attacks.

But the thematic connection is that neither of them want to fight you: both of these are reluctant fights, done out of a sense of obligation. Neither of them has their heart in it (Toriel actively stops trying to damage you after a point, Asgore gets weaker after talking to him and/or having the Butterscotch Pie and is widely understood to be holding back and letting himself take the hits). Both of them avoid getting mercied and are trying to force you to fight them. This is what the Heartache motif represents.
