The Domestic Galliraptors of Dracovita

Domestic Galliraptors are one of the other recognizable domestic animals of Dracovita, in a similar vein to the Domestic Tribulls they are much more widespread than their earthen counterpart, the domestic jungle fowl, which are a rarity in the modern era of Dracovita for similar reasons as domestic cattle. Domestic Galliraptors are generally reared for their eggs, meat, feathers and in some regions cockfighting, some communities also rearing them as alarm animals to alert denizens to the presence of predators.

Unlike Domestic Tribulls the origins of Domestic Galliraptors are very well known, originating as a collaborative effort between Xeno Corp and other organizations to provide a much hardier livestock option during a time of great agricultural collapse due to rampant disease spread, along with a much more robust and resilient immune system they are more palatable for some of the more alien races of Dracovita. In the modern era of Dracovita Domestic Galliraptors can be found almost anywhere in some form, whether it be feral populations that have spread via intentional release by communities or people or uncontrollable means such as Blue Portal activity, or the many different breeds that are found in settlements, villages, farms and cities, both as livestock or as pets.

While having similar cuts of meat to chickens and other fowl, galliraptors have additional cuts in the form of the tail meat, making them very popular with those carnivorous denizens of Dracovita. During great festivals and celebrations fried galliraptor tails are usually one of the options you'll see alongside other fried and battered snacks and meals, generally enjoyed more by those with constantly growing dentition as they can be rather bony, but fried galliraptor tails made from thicker tailed breeds such as Bobbed Fantails and Bearded Fattails are usually provided for those that want something meatier.

Star Boxhen The most common breed of Galliraptor, one bred for both meat, eggs and the protection they bring to ones other flocks of small livestock. In a similar manner to the once common chicken these animals are highly personable and hardy, as well as putting up a fight when confronted by similar sized predators, some especially bold Galliraptor roosters have been known to pick fights with larger animals which has on occasion saved some farmers flocks from being seriously attacked.

Naked Boxhen A breed originally created as meat animals, but have fallen out of favour in comparison to regular Star Boxhens, while the lack of feathers makes them easier to process the feathers do have value as an item of use, mainly in craft and attire. Naked Boxhens despite this are very popular as odd pets, their wrinkly and pink appearance often making them the subject of discussion, the lack of feathering however comes with drawbacks as they are much more prone to harm from the environment such as the elements, predation and parasites.

Vulture Boxhen A variation of the Star Boxhen originally bred for ease of processing, they're primarily an ornamental breed now a days, usually kept by those that breed Boxhens as pets as Vulture Boxhens are usually crossed with Naked Boxhens.

Threaded Boxhen A variation of the Star Boxhen originally bred for their meat, they're primarily an ornamental breed now a days known for the long, exaggerated tail feathers that stream behind them. It's said that the Threaded Boxhens origins started with a Star Boxhen that was kept as a pet by a hatmaker, as they used its long exaggerated tail feathers to decorate fancy hats and suits.

Grenadier Boxhen A variation of the Star Boxhen originally bred for their clutch sizes, they're primarily an ornamental breed now a days known for the large plume of feathers on their heads.

Island Thiefhen Originating from domestic Galliraptors that have escaped captivity or been abandoned, they've managed to establish themselves in the environment and have become feral. The Island Thiefhen, as the name suggests, is generally found on islands that were once inhabited by people. Some farmers often seek out and will even put up offers for wild Island Thiefhen roosters as they tend to be more bold and fight harder against potential threats to their flocks compared to domestic Galliraptor roosters.

Splendid Yelper Originating from domestic Galliraptors that have escaped captivity or been abandoned, they've managed to establish themselves in the environment and have become feral. Splendid Yelpers are usually sighted in old growth jungles, typically lingering in the ruins of villages and towns, many jungle dwelling groups are quite fond of these animals for their strikingly coloured combs.

Pygmy Bellfowl Originating from domestic Galliraptors that have escaped captivity or been abandoned, they've managed to establish themselves in the environment and have become feral. The smallest of all Galliraptors, both feral and domestic, originally thought to be a completely unrelated animal before genetic testing revealed them to be Galliraptors. It's unknown how they ended up so small or in the environments they are often found in, unlike other feral Galliraptors that have known histories that led to them becoming feral Pygmy Bellfowl tend to just show up in random areas, the only theory regarding their drastic physical change and spread that holds weight is distribution via Blue Portals, as Pygmy Bellfowl are most common in Blue Portal hotspots. Aside from their mysterious origins Pygmy Bellfowl are very popular in some regions, often functioning as living alarms to warn communities of the presence of large predators.

Krulhen Originating from domestic Galliraptors that have escaped captivity or been abandoned, they've managed to establish themselves in the environment and have become feral. These are the largest of the feral Galliraptors and are found in arid and desert regions, usually at abandoned campsites, but are also kept in desert towns and communities where the environment is too harsh for most Galliraptor breeds.

Wiiza A medium sized ornamental breed, originating as animals to show ones status in desert harpy communities, they quickly became iconic animals to the lizardfolk kingdom in the greater Twistwoods, seen as royal animals and kept in the yards of the palace alongside other exotic beasts. The Wiiza's most recognizable feature is the plume of feathers on their heads as well as the extensive feathering that goes down the legs.

Star Akson A small sized meat breed, "Akson" is the term used for many of the small Galliraptor breeds and is named after the one that solidified the trait, Gib Akson, the Star part of the name is quite simple, like the Star Boxhen, it originates from the City of Starfall. The breed is popular for two main reasons, their small size means you can keep more animals in one area compared to larger breeds of Galliraptor, and their faster growth rates.

Bearded Akson A small sized laying breed that's also quite popular as an ornamental animal. Bearded Aksons have origins in cooler climates, the secondary array of feathers on the base of the tail is a mutation mainly seen in this breed, but some breeders have managed to incorporate this trait into their own Galliraptor lineages via crossbreeding. This breed is notable for producing "Akson Stones", small solid lumps of shell, typically differentiated by eggs because of how malformed they tend to be in comparison, some people collect these Akson Stones for jewellery or to powder them, they're quite popular as dietary supplements in those denizens with constantly growing dentition.

Unic Akson A small sized laying breed, they're very skittish animals as they originate from woodland elf communities, it's said that they're the result of crossing imported Star Aksons with Pygmy Bellfowl to achieve a much more genetically diverse animal with stronger survival instincts, both important traits as there are many predators in the woodlands that'd gladly snatch them up. Aside from the horn-like crests and more unique colours the other well known trait of the breed is the pale lavender coloured eggs they lay.

Tora's Sighter A large sized breed bred for fighting and as a guard animal, originating from a mixed community of harpies and satyrs, with the breed named after the Stormbird harpy that resides with them. This extremely rare breed was bred to function as living alarms and lookouts, with fights between rooster Sighters being a big part of the communities yearly celebrations.

Cotarn A medium sized breed bred for ornamental reasons, compared to the other Galliraptor breeds Cotarns tend to be considered a bit more frail, which can be an issue if one tries to keep them in the same manner as other breeds, but with a bit more care and consideration regarding how they're kept they tend to live longer than other breeds.

Primus Game A medium sized breed bred mainly for meat and fighting, this breed originates from Galliraptors found by Wild Rangers on Terra Primus, originally displaced by Blue Portals, they were much more lithe compared to other breeds and it showed in pecking order skirmishes between individuals. Generally considered to be "re-domesticated", the modern Primus Game is still a very lithe and agile animal, often the go to Galliraptor breed for those that lived in more isolated regions as Primus Game have much stronger survival instincts compared to other breeds.

Dune Broiler A large sized breed bred for meat, these Galliraptors originate from those sheltered desert cities and are known for their growth rates, while not as fast as a Star Akson are comparable to the smaller breed. They're often described as being very ornery, known to mock charge things they feel threatened by, usually this is children that try to chase them.

Eden Boxhen A large sized breed bred for laying and meat, they originate from the City of Eden and is how they get their name. Eden Boxhens are very well known for the eggs they lay, being large and coming in a wide range of colours, the meat is also described as being sweet, tender and rich, but this comes more from their diet as it tends to consist of various fruits and insects, something that is only possible because of what the City of Eden is like.

Bobbed Fantail A small sized breed bred mainly for ornamental purposes and meat, this breed originates from the lizardfolk kingdom in the greater Twistwoods. Known for their very short, round tails and the fan of feathers that adorns it, this is another breed with royal associations, although they're more common in the modern era as odd looking show animals. Despite not being bred for laying the eggs of this breed are rather well known for their yellow colour, often sold by some vendors as "golden eggs".

Threadtail Robevi A large sized breed bred mainly for fighting and a very rare breed that is highly prized for its traits, its said they originate from mountain communities that reside in the Gods Hands formations and have ties to the Bearded Akson breed as they both share the plume of feathers at the base of their tails. Fights between Threadtail Robevi roosters are often a major part in celebrations in those communities, mainly as a way to gauge how long the growing season will last or how long until the bloom ends since many associate this breed with the God of the Forager. While fatal injuries are rare in these fights, when they do occur the deceased animal is offered as a gift to the God of the Hunter.

Robevi A large sized breed bred for meat and fighting, another breed that originates from the City of Eden and is usually kept alongside Eden Boxhens. This uncommon breed is notable as its one of the largest Galliraptor varieties by weight, often disputes and dominance fights between Robevi roosters are something that get a lot of attention because of their size. To some they've become a symbol of strength.

Bearded Fattail A small sized breed bred for eggs and meat, while similar to the Bearded Akson breed the difference between them becomes very notable when you look at their tails, as the name implies this breed has rather thick, meaty tails when compared to the rest of their body. It's rather common to see Galliraptor tails amongst other fried and battered food at fairs and large events, if they're short and squat they tend to be Bearded Fattail or Bobbed Fantail tails, if they're long and skinny they're usually the tails of some sort of Boxhen, but this varies by region and which Galliraptor breeds are the most common in said region.

The Domestic Bildrabeest of Dracovita

Large domestic relatives of the wherble, Bildrabeests are primarily kept as beasts of burden, livestock guardians and occasionally for meat. Being not very fast, agile or powerful animals, they make up for it by being durable, sturdy and bold with large muscular legs, adorned with thick sheets of cartilage and fat forming protective hard to pierce hides. Domestic Bildrabeests are very personable animals and tend to bond with the ranchers and farmers that keep them, being described as very lax towards people and other animals they live alongside, although some describe them as being a bit boisterous and rowdy, in comparison wild Bildrabeests are high strung and wary of all other animals, having been seen charging and lashing out at both carnivores and herbivores.

A lot of Tribull ranchers and farmers keep Bildrabeests in their herds, especially in regions with higher predator presence, just the presence of two or three Domestic Bildrabeests can embolden a normally easy to spook herd, turning what would've been a mindless stampede into a wall of defensive horns, something a lot of predators in Dracovita are spooked by or cautious of, even the Bigjaws and some of the larger predatory dragons have been seen failing to unnerve a herd thanks to the presence of Bildrabeests.

Their loyalty when bonded with a handler is also what makes them very popular, many a rancher and farmer has been saved by a Bildrabeest. Their bleating and nudging being a behaviour they exhibit towards their own young and those they are bonded with, usually done when something has them alert and cautious, such as the very subtle body language of agitated bull Tribulls about to lock horns.

As beasts of burden Bildrabeests are usually used as on the go storage for feeds or animal product, and sometimes are used as nanny animals by some farmers that rear animals such as Bolters, protecting especially young animals from small predators.

Thickhide A large breed of domestic Bildrabeest kept as livestock guardians and beasts of burden, with some communities rearing them for meat or for their hides. All Bildrabeests breeds are rather personable animals, with Thickhides being known for their ease of working with compared to other breeds, this however does leave them slightly vulnerable to predation from large predators such as Bigjaws or some of the larger bolder dragon species.

Some ranchers and beast masters that work with large herbivorous species often have Thickhide Bildrabeests as one of their bonded animals, mainly due to how the Thickhide breed is much easier to find and acquire compared to other Bildrabeest breeds.

Ridgeback A large breed of domestic Bildrabeest bred specifically to be livestock guardians, known for their temperamental and ornery natures that makes them very bold, and very good at driving off predators, even large ones such as Bigjaws when in sizeable groups. However most Ridgeback Bildrabeests make for poor draft animals, often not tolerating having packs or heavy coats placed on their backs, despite this they are still a popular choice as they're described as very loyal yet independent animals.

Some beast masters that breed Ridgeback Bildrabeests rent out their older breeding herds to farmers and ranchers that can't afford to keep Bildrabeests in their own livestock herds, often calling this service "bouncer herds".

Dasher A medium breed of domestic Bildrabeest that is much leaner, quicker and more agile than other breeds, primarily kept as livestock guardians of more flighty fast moving animals such as Ptarauks and Bolters. Their size and build makes them relatively poor livestock guardians when confronted by large predators, but most large predators fail at whats more important, sneaking up on and catching a herd when Dasher Bildrabeest are present. Some farmers keep them in herds with other Bildrabeest breeds, Dashers functioning as alarm or spotter animals while the other Bildrabeests function as the muscle, although this does sometimes mean some crossbreeding happens.

Dasher Bildrabeest are described as nervous animals and usually do poorly when kept by themselves, so most ranchers that keep this breed have them in larger groups compared to other Bildrabeest breeds. Because of this most ranchers that have this rather uncommon breed usually have their own unique Dasher lineages, with the appearance of their coats varying between different farms.

Wiwi A small breed of domestic Bildrabeest bred specifically for ornamental reasons. This breed is rather rare, being a dwarf breed with a very placid and peaceful temperament makes them not particularly good livestock guardians or beasts of burden, rather they're mainly kept by a few ranchers as animals of prestige as the breed originates from Snow Witch covens in polar regions, so to have Wiwi Bildrabeests on ones land is generally a sign of good relations with the Snow Witches. They're visually odd animals as they've been selectively bred to resemble their much smaller and wild relative, the Wherble, and while there are many coat variations that exist, for a Wiwi to meet the breed standard and be considered a purebred (in Snow Witch communities at least) the body form and coat must visually resemble that of a Wherble, this includes whether or not the horn growth on a Wiwi is small and flattened or not.

Outside of Snow Witch communities those few that keep Wiwi Bildrabeests often have separate purebred and mixed herds, as the striking colouration that is normally restricted to the face, fins and sometimes chest regions in other Bildrabeest breeds is very widespread on Wiwi's. One such coat variation that exists in Wiwi's that originates from outside of Snow Witch communities is referred to as "Deep Topaz" and is used for Wiwi's that have coats with large amounts of blue colouration, those Wiwi Bildrabeests with more full coverings of this blue are considered to be high grade, with the ideal "Deep Topaz" for some ranchers being a nearly entirely blue animal, although this has yet to be achieved.

Shorrump A medium breed of domestic Bildrabeest bred mainly for meat and hides, but are also used as alarm animals and beasts of burden. Shorrump Bildrabeests are one of the few Bildrabeest breeds reared for meat and are usually kept in large herds compared to other breeds. The most popular cuts of these animals tend to be the tails and fins, the fins are very popular for stews and soups but are also often dried into a hard jerky that's very popular with those sapients with ever-growing teeth, while the tails are often used for centerpiece dishes, the cavities left from removing the bones being large enough to hold many different spices and stuffings of the cooks choice.

One of the traits that this breed has is the enlarged nasal cavity, making their calls very loud and far reaching, which has earned them a spot in the herds of some ranchers as alarm animals, and some farmers have Shorrumps as beasts of burden, mainly to help them move around large feed containers for smaller types of livestock, this breed is quite popular among those farmers that rear honey straight-backs or galliraptors as they tend to be described as more careful and wary around the smaller animals.

The Domestic Tribulls of Dracovita

Domestic Tribulls, one of the most familiar forms of livestock in Dracovita, and one that is the most widespread as their more earthen counterpart, domestic cattle, aren't exactly the most edible to a lot of the more alien races of Dracovita, its also best to ignore how most cattle are either extinct or nearly extinct.

The origin of the Domestic Tribull isn't exactly known, but the existence of "wild" species that are related to Domestic Tribulls indicates that they very likely originate from Golden Spawn experimentation sites, making it a bit clear that they are purposed organisms. The name "Tribull" has fairly simple origins, they have three legs and resemble bovines, this common name is of human origin, but is very commonly used since most groups don't have a name or word for Tribulls.

The meat of Domestic Tribulls is strange to say the least, being blue in colouration, even in Tribulls that don't have blue coat colours. Depending on the cuts the texture is comparable to that of cattle, with similar taste, although diet, breed and lifestyle changes the flavour profile drastically. Often they're also kept as pets by some, especially the Centrix, the giant dragonfolk are very fond of the smallest of Tribull breeds, the smallest of the small, the Runters.

Milking Tribulls is a very different process to that of bovines, as Tribulls have an organ called the "Milksponge". The Milksponge is present in both sexes, so its not uncommon to see bull Tribulls being suckled on by one or two calves, usually ones he sired. The process of milking a Milksponge begins by placing the appropriate vessel beneath the Tribull and placing your hands on the outside of the organ, then you move your hands, trying to get them to meet together in the middle, once in the middle you repeat the process, starting outside and moving to meet in the middle.

Bluebell A large sized breed primarily bred for dairy, they're the most common breed of Tribull and usually what most Dracovitans think of when they think of the animal, so much so that they're the icon of Tri-star meats which is the largest producer of meat and dairy products in Dracovita. As a breed Bluebells are best suited for open grassland habitat and farmers that have the land for it often choose these animals as their breed of choice, their large size deterring most small and medium predatory animals and their method of grazing avoids heavy ground damage.

Feral A medium sized breed that is the result of what happens when Domestic Tribulls escape into the wilderness and start living on their own, the pressures of predators, limited resources and the ability to breed freely with no management often leads to them reverting to this form. Feral Tribulls are also achieved from crossing "incompatible" breeds with one another, such as Ainya's Dulls or Cliffdancers with most other breeds. Some ranchers and farmers prefer Feral Tribulls over other domestic breeds due to their ability to handle more natural conditions and respond to predators more effectively.

Skipton A large sized breed primarily bred for meat, but are often also used as beasts of burden. Skiptons are prized for their strength as draft animals, and in regards to their meat the hump and neck cuts are especially popular. Many ranchers that work in regions with many predatory animals often will have mixed herds of Bluebell and Skipton Tribulls, maximizing meat and dairy production while also having livestock that's less likely to fall to predation from wild animals.

Swellneck A small sized breed mainly bred for dairy but has origins as fighting animals, they're very easy to accidentally provoke so they're usually kept by those that can manage aggressive animals. Often with Swellnecks this aggression is also turned onto other animals, usually other herbivores that are taking up the best grazing zones or predators that fail to ambush them or show caution around them. These traits do make them popular as livestock guardians with some ranchers, generally those that keep herds of small breeds have one or two Swellneck bulls in there to protect the herd against similar sized predators, they also function as living alarm systems as their alert and warning calls are loud and far reaching.

Dragon-dragger An extra-large sized breed, Dragon-draggers are the largest and rarest of the Tribull breeds, usually seen in villages that heavily rely on hunting and are bred mainly as beasts of burden, although the milk and meat never goes to waste in these communities. The name Dragon-dragger comes from what they're mainly used for, dragging deceased dragons and other large game back to villages for processing.

Runter A miniature sized breed that is mainly bred for ornamental reasons, generally they have very low milk output so they're not good for dairy, something about their extremely small size makes their meat rather unpleasant texture-wise compared to other Tribull breeds. Despite their extremely small size and lack of use as livestock they're very popular as pets, especially with the largest of the dragonfolk, the Centrix, many Centrix specialize in breeding and rearing runters, with some old Centrix having their own Runter strains. Many Centrix that take up the hobby of breeding and keeping Runter Tribulls have specially made tailor fitted coats that are fitted with multiple pouches, usually for carrying their most prized Runters.

Fraytail A medium sized breed that is favoured as a general all purpose animal, great for dairy, meat or for display as their breed origins has ties with Runters and the many cosmetic genes they carry. They are also often treated as pets by some communities because of their very passive demeanor, although this makes them very vulnerable to predation.

----

King Dwarf A small breed originating from mountain communities, these Tribulls are primarily raised for their meat. Like Swellnecks the King Dwarf is known for their aggression when provoked, a trait that was bred for and encouraged because of the predators that often reside within the mountain environments of Dracovita. When farmers of these Tribulls come together to mix their herds or trade livestock its often a cause for great gathering, as the ensuing spars and battles between individuals to establish their herd order is a spectacle that is enjoyed by many of those mountainfolk that rear these animals.

Blissie A medium breed that originates from Blissful Dune communities (and is how they earn their name). These are hardy animals that are bred and raised in harsh climates, being an all purpose breed that are raised as beasts of burden, dairy or meat animals. Unlike other Tribull breeds the digestive tracts of Blissies are able to extract and hold onto more water from the many succulents and cacti that fill the Blissful Dunes, a very useful trait to have in an environment where fresh water is a rarity.

Ainya's Dull A medium breed generally reared for meat. This Tribull breed has an interesting set of traits associated with it, mainly the 2 dewlaps they possess, whatever gene causes this trait seemingly also effects colouration, as the black coat colouration in Ainya's Dulls is present in all coat variations of the breed, and those that lack the black colouration end up being in poor health. Some ranchers that raise this Tribull breed have tried to cross them with other breeds, but the resulting offspring tend to resemble Feral Tribulls.

Cliffdancer A small breed that originates from mountain communities, primarily the "God's Hand" mountain formations that appear in certain regions of Dracovita, Cliffdancers as a breed are hybrids that were made from crossing Feral Tribulls with one of their wild relatives, the Primus Dancers. As a breed they are reared for dairy and meat, generally very calm animals when around those they trust but can be very skittish when approached by those they don't know, and are very well known for scaling cliff faces and large trees in their pursuit of minerals such as salts or fresh foliage growths and fruit. They tend to cohabit very poorly with other Tribull breeds as they have inherited the nippiness of Primus Dancers, and have been noted to nip at and bite the tails and ears of other Tribull breeds, a behaviour mainly noticed in the males of the breed as their fighting style involves a lot more biting than the typical jousting and headbutting of other Tribull breeds.
