I don't like the trope of humble origins or "it could have happened with anyone" not beacuse of the humble origins itself, but because writers never seen to stick to it, it's always revealed that they are super special, children of the monarch and only one who could save the universe everytime and always, it could have happened with anyone, except that they where actually chosen by a higher being and is destined to yada yada yada

yeah its hard to truly commit to that bit because at a certain point the story does need to answer the basic question of "well okay, if it could have been anyone why was it this one," and usually people want a more existentially satisfying answer than "they were in the right place at the right time." but if you want that, you either need to give them some unique skills and talents that set them apart, which means actually it couldn't have been anyone, or you give them bullshit destiny powers, which leads to the above problems
